  • I made a winter hike to one of the most unique and remote cabin in Northern Norway. The old lighthouse keeper cabin Lyngstuva is located at the far end of the Lyngen Alps. This place is far away from any roads or houses, you will be all by your own. The cabin has no electricity or water connection.
    It was build in 1922 to store the lamp oil for the lighthouse. In 1993 two guys from Berlin came and started to refurbish the almost broken-down cabin. You can stay in this cabin so long as you want without any costs.

    Soon you can find a detailed description about the cabin and how to get there on our webpage.

    Good stuff...actually tried to hike to this lighthouse today but had to turn back due to the very windy and wet conditions, not good along the shore path with small children! Pretty muddy and slippery...Got close enough to snap a photo of the lighthouse though, hope to try again sometime. Great video! 👍

    I really enjoyed the video, I liked the history party, I like when you give mention dates 1993, and what the cabin used for. And when it was built.
    Also, OMG the candles, the scenes you made it at nights with the lights of candles. This sure make the place very cozy , the cooking part…the morning breakfast, (even though it was 1 second) xD
    You really made my mood soo happy.
    Again, thank you greatly for this kind of videos, please keep up your fantastic work.

    Superb find. The lighthouse is clearly too small to live in. Do you know where the lighthouse keeper would have travelled from each day and how far would that have been? Looking forward to the completed dog sled story.

    • @northandbeyond
      @northandbeyond  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha yeah its surely too small for full time living but for up to a couple of months would be doable... The biggest setback would be fresh water availability, one would have to bring that from a stream on a regular basis... As i said this was originally the oil storage shed. There is a small village nearby where we started the trek to the lighthouse. its about 7-8km away the lighthouse keeper would have been living there and hiked the trail each day. Ahhh the Dog sled.... Im very excited about this.. its 98% complete now...

    this is great !! enjoyed the history lesson too. The wind must be horrendous on a bad day; can't imagine people living in the region permanently. I missed the name of the people who historically lived there; can you let me know please? looking forward to your dog sledging ....

      The indigenous people of the the north up here are called Sami, they were in the whole area of northern Norway, Finland, Sweden and the the North west of Russia. There are the coastal Sami and the Reindeer Sami. ... The wind in a storm is horrendous the cabin is actually bolted to the rocks.
