I imagine it's intentionally slow to help balance autoloader tanks as a general rule, but they need to realise it doesn't make sense for this tank
The reason I like the Chi Ri II so much is because it feels like a premium tank that was allowed in the tech tree. It's a glass canon for sure, but for someone like me that almost always gets the first shot off on my opponent it works excellently. And if there's multiple opponents you have 3 quick but deadly shots to deal with them all. The only thing left to be desired besides the armor is a faster replenishment for the first stage ammo. Good video Spook!

Funniest part about the Chi-Ri II’s armor… the Japanese would’ve considered it a “heavy” tank/assault tank had it gone full scale production, especially considering when they saw German Tiger I’s, they went “Bunker on tracks spooky”
Maybe the reason it takes him so long to replenish the ready rack is because the auto loading system is made exclusively from sharp edges and fragile parts.

I COULD be wrong, but my experience with the Chi-Ri-II and its inconsistent loading speed is that it doesn't HAVE to wait for the autoloader to be pre-loaded. If you empty the auto-loader, then the loader starts putting in the work. This reduces the loading time to a more typical speed (and is affected by losing the loader) but the upside is you don't HAVE to wait for the first-order ammo rack to be replenished in order to load and fire a round like most of the French tanks. The reason losing your loader has an effect is because your auto-loader was empty and your loader was the one loading the gun and would do so until you stopped firing long enough for him to replenish the auto-loader.
The Chi-Ri uses an assisted loader system. The mechanism lines the round up with the breech, but the loader still has to ram it in. That’s why if the loader dies or is injured, reloading slows down.
Could you try the Valentine X sometime? It's got fantastic pen with a fast reload and great (if wonky) armor while being faster than most the slow af British vehicles Would love to see ya spotlight it since it's usually in a place that people skip in the tech tree

I think you should have a go of the pvkv2, it has 14 degrees of gun depression with a 8x-15.9x zoom. Its a good sniper with a really powerful round for its br. Also for some reason the first 18 rounds of ammo go into the hull which is separated from the turret by an armored floor, so you can survive a surprising ammount of hits to the turret.

My first shot didn't go so well, as it was just below the barrel. And after reloading quickly, the second shot killed his barrel. And I just got closer to it and shot its MG port. I am really thankful that the reload really saved me
That Japanese long 75mm cannon is magical, but that's literally the only advantage this thing has. Only reason it's a higher BR than the Chi-To is the reload speed of the small ready rack, and I definitely think that should be canceled out by the size and speed of the vehicle, not to mention the abysmal armor. Put this thing at 4.7, then that lineup would be even more fantastic.
I for one absolutely love this thing. Probably my second favorite tank in this br area (the first one being tiger e). The gun is like a Sherman 76 but better in every way and being able to get 3 kills in 10 seconds with well-placed shots (if you don't get gaijined) feels great. Also with the 37 you can bait clueless people to peek bc they think you shot. The mobility isn't even that bad tbh. It is big but good positioning can make up for it. It's my highest k/d tank to play and the Japanese 5.0 lineup with the 2 chi-to's is one of my favorites with the amount of firepower it offers
id like to see a video on premium nerfs (or as some say, P2W nerfs) like the Tryzniec Firefly, Tiger II Sla. 16, T-44-122 and Panzer II H (among others), where various stats other than BR were changed, such as almost tripling the Panzer H reload, or removing the Tryzniec's extra mobility (which was based of the A57 Multibank which several fireflies had), etc. Not IS6 levels, but these random nerfs or changes to old premiums that at times seem intended to devalue them and encourage purchasing of new, higher priced premiums. This could even be expanded into aircraft, such as when the Chaika 20mm got the huge recoil change making it wildly inaccurate, or when the Do-335 got hit hard with the compression hammer and for a time couldnt dive past 500 km/h.
Seeing gameplay of the Ram II would be pretty nice cause personally i think it's a slept on tank in WT, especially with 88mm of slopped frontal armor, i've had M10s bounce off of my frontal plate many of times
Hey Spookston could you play the AMX-10RC and/or the BMP-1? I don't think many people have covered the AMX-10RC and would love to see your thoughts on it with some historical stuff thrown in.
This thing used to be better with the old autoloader mechanic where it was treated as a magazine rather then a ready rack. Being able to pump out 3 shots with a 2 second lag between them and then reload all 3 rounds at once was much more fun then waiting for the ready rack reloading with how slow it is.
I know i already suggested you the Bkan 1C, but can you play the french Somua SM too please? It's one of my favorite tanks and it's very fun. (yes ik fun in war thunder doesn't exist)
the Chi-Ri single-handedly stopped my very fast grind in Japan I got up to in a couple of days, and as soon as I got to it, my grind just... stopped. I hate it.
I wouldn't be surprised if Gaijin just put a universal ready rack reload rate (That was a mouthful). Even though it would be as east as changing the variable value, that's obviously too hard.
Honestly it's one of the few tanks that had its reload rate missed with the most. First RR I remember was roughly around 5-7 seconds and then autoloader came in with a default reload rates. They treated the chi-ri ll tray loader like one and gave it a nice 3 second reload rate. The next came the First storage mechanic and now it is still 3 seconds but if you use all 3 rounds. It's a horrific (roughly) 14 second reload from storage to into the breach.
Funny thing is despite being king tiger sized and at the time having rust brown camo on I've still gotten team killed by a German in sim using the Chi Ri because he "thought I was a T-34"
You probably won't see this but if you do spookston I want to thank you for making such calming and intriguing videos, you have helped me improve my ability to play war thunder and help me sleep at night. I have tinnitus so listening to your videos has been a life saver. Keep up the great work ♥️
Spookston, what do you think about adding O-I or O-I experimental to the game? The O-I could have a 150mm or 100mm ap gun with two 75mm secondary turrets and a machinegun turret in the back. It also has 160mm of armor frontally angled at 45 degrees on the lower plate and 16 degrees on the other plate. The turret is also the same thickness, angled at 30 degrees. The back has the same thickness as the front. The O-I exp would most likely get a 75mm and it has a (probably) 47mm secondary turret, one machinegun turret in the front and one in the back. It would have 120mm frontal armor with the same angling as on the O-I.
SU-152 would be a fun one next, now that it's been moved to 4.0 it no longer sees tigers and Panther Ds so the only heavy armor you need to worry about is the proto-panther and churchills. neither of which pose much of a challenge.
4:30 i know you're the tank expert and i am not but i think that it's not an automatic loader but rather just a manual quick loading device operated by the loader.

Id like to see an IPM1 video at 11.3 :)
YES ANOTHER VIDEO
NA-TO fitting the theme of depressing japanese tanks its such a cool and interesting vehicle and i wanna watch a montage of you dying to cas
Man we got the full range of Spook's emotions this video lmao.
This thing used to be better with the old autoloader mechanic where it was treated as a magazine rather then a ready rack. Being able to pump out 3 shots with a 2 second lag between them and then reload all 3 rounds at once was much more fun then waiting for the ready rack reloading with how slow it is.
I love this tank aesthetically but jesus its rought to play just a large light tank. Even aa is a massive threat when you are in the Chi RI
When the steel are not real so you have to bloat the size of your "superweapon" to make it looks like it has more armor
I know i already suggested you the Bkan 1C, but can you play the french Somua SM too please? It's one of my favorite tanks and it's very fun. (yes ik fun in war thunder doesn't exist)
Spookston really out here loosing his McMarbles just for us. I applaud you sir
the Chi-Ri single-handedly stopped my very fast grind in Japan
I got up to in a couple of days, and as soon as I got to it, my grind just... stopped. I hate it.
Feel like you’ve had too much fun. Maybe a firefly solid shot experience can help with that 🙃
Let's play a drinking game. Take a shot whenever Spookston says "okay".
I wouldn't be surprised if Gaijin just put a universal ready rack reload rate (That was a mouthful). Even though it would be as east as changing the variable value, that's obviously too hard.
I get: big tank
You receive: paper armor
- chi ri
This whole video is just the peak war thunder experience.
This whole video is basically explaining how it feels to play war thunder
Honestly it's one of the few tanks that had its reload rate missed with the most.
First RR I remember was roughly around 5-7 seconds and then autoloader came in with a default reload rates. They treated the chi-ri ll tray loader like one and gave it a nice 3 second reload rate. The next came the First storage mechanic and now it is still 3 seconds but if you use all 3 rounds. It's a horrific (roughly) 14 second reload from storage to into the breach.
Dude gets more kills than all the 9.7 premium players.
"Still not great..."
That's our Spookston.
Most of Japan feels overtiered. The Zeros keep going up in br because people can't learn to not turn fight them. Now everything can outperform them.
Japanese Mediums [long gun]: Are comparable to Panzer IV [long gun]
Gaijin: Same BR as Sherman Firefly for You
FINALLY, the sumo fighter himself.
Funny thing is despite being king tiger sized and at the time having rust brown camo on I've still gotten team killed by a German in sim using the Chi Ri because he "thought I was a T-34"
I swear, with these reactions, I wanna see you play a horror game one day
3:55 person he killls name is Lucky ... I can't tell. It should be unlucky after totally screwing that shot up and nailing a already dead tank
Thank you bro I been waiting long time to see you
Coming back to Chi ri 2 after the ready rack replenish has been buffed across the board
Need to complement this with The Incredibly Sad Heavy Tank(s) next. Churchill time.
In the last video you had an alright and OK counter now can we have a please counter.😅
4:10 only war thunder has this kind of comedic timing :D
The reload rate on the Chi-Ri when your ready rack is depleted is the same as the other 75mm guns if I'm not mistaken
i would love a video on the last of a dying breed of heavies, the IS-4M
You probably won't see this but if you do spookston I want to thank you for making such calming and intriguing videos, you have helped me improve my ability to play war thunder and help me sleep at night. I have tinnitus so listening to your videos has been a life saver. Keep up the great work ♥️
I don't think we've ever gotten a video on the t92 at least not that i can see
It's absurdly unrealistic how long it takes to replenish the autoloader, the crew literally just has to pick a shell up an lay it on the tray
Come on Spook, where’s my British Striker video! I have been waiting for 2 months 💀
4:30 i know you're the tank expert and i am not but i think that it's not an automatic loader but rather just a manual quick loading device operated by the loader.
Maybe he should have reversed at them to use the engine as shield to protect the crew.
Watching this, the first thing I thought of was: 'It's just a better 76 at a lower BR!'
