+Roelf van der Merwe Normally, I'm not a colored gold guy, and yellow appeals to me less than rose, but this combination just works. While the new 228206 is a monster, I'm kinda glad that this example was the first of the new Day-Dates to cross my desk. Sometimes, we find that we enjoy the unexpected and daring even more than our customary choices. Best, Tim
I tried the 40mm on today to get a "feel" on my wrist....and your description of an evolved DDII is spot on!.... With regards to comfort, it is on par with my GMT and Yacht Master (both on jubilee bracelets)....I am now going to make my purchase in Everose instead of another DDII. Thanks for your detailed review.
I agree man I tried it on today myself and it is very comfortable and I love the size of the 40 mm as opposed to the 41 mm. Very small difference but it's much more proportional IMO. This is definitely one I will be picking up in the future.
That is a wonderful watch! And the thing with the new bracelets is such a great improvement! The old Rolex President, Jubilee and Oyster bracelets got so loose by time...
My wrist size is 8", and I love ...no .. LOVE the Day-Date II .... I need one in Everose to round out my collection (18K yellow, and Platinum) .... Thanks for the review of the new 40mm .... very helpful!
+classic kool My pleasure, and welcome to our channel! This watch is the clear choice for a larger wrist in the current Day-Date lineup, and I think it wears just as large as the Day-Date 2 while offering the aesthetic refinements that Rolex probably should have incorporated on the 2008 DD2 when it launched. If the original Day-Date 2 was an experimental "big President," the Day-Date 40 feels like the finished product. Best, Tim
I wish you would zoom out a bit when doing the on wrist shot to give some more perspective on the size. Other than that love all your videos always learn a lot thank you
+jenniferjanef Good point! The platinum Day-Date II was the proof-of-concept for this system, and now it's being extended through the broader Rolex lineup. Best, Tim
Hi! - This watch sold a long time ago. We don't have one in stock currently. In the future, you can find availability and pricing here: www.thewatchbox.com/shop/Rolex-Day-Date-228238.html
Rolex Day Date 40 should only be purchased in yellow gold. Black dial is nice, but silver dial with Roman numbers is the best dial for this watch. You should buy this watch in Europe, and always ask for minimum 20% discount + VAT back if you are not European. I got from one retailer 27% off and VAT back (I paid around 19,000 EUR brand new). You shouldn't be paying more than $22,000 for this watch brand new today. Note, this watch gets very easily scratched. I bought mine in 2015, but sold it few months ago and I have exchanged it for Patek 5167A and got 6000 EUR. This is the best Rolex watch, but it never gets close to Patek. But when I make more money, I will be buying this watch again. NEVER EVER buy this watch with champagne dial. It looks cheap and ugly. Take care.

+1000lightyrs It's funny that you mention this. Around the office, I've often joked about Googling the current market prices of my redundant organs when a serious timepiece arrives on my desk. Best, Tim
My next buy at first you think that its too showy and only something for mafia type shadowy characters. you know characters that want to show off and have no style and no class. the classy hipster guys with their understated watches will look down on you and say "what a prick, no class", but lets just look at the situation: -you can get a president for 7-12k? -a pp nautilus will cost about 30-40k? about 130 grams of gold vs 0 grams of gold... and now tell me who is the show off and looks like a total prick and lets not forget, this watch looks amazing in these colours and you basically pay the gold price even more bang per buck with the diamonds
Your so ignorant this watch is more than 40k you ice it out you lose all its value watches are for gentlemen and real men watches aren’t meant for diamonds and all that bullshit rappers be putting in they shit
I think the black dial really goes well with the gold colour of this watch

If you could pick any watch on the planet to keep forever, but you’re not allowed to sell it, what do you pick? For me it’s this.
15,000th subscriber!!!
I'd love a comparison to the AP Royal oak Rosegold with blue dial and yr thoughts against eachother
Rolex 218206 already has been using silicon tube since 2008.

+watchuwantinc Do you know if it was used in the white gold GMT pepsi?
do new 118238's have this system too?
how much is ths watch?
Rowland Nkweyagae about $22,000 full retail, around $10,900 pre owned
You can find a new president for $10,900 pre owned? Can you find me a link I will buy it right now!!!
I paid 34000 Euro for this watch with 10 diamonds on the dial
This watch would look great with bold gold full roman numbers. The roman dials made now look weird with half roman and half stick.
Is it true and proven that onyx dials are very fragile and can break ?
How much is this, would appreciate if someone replies.

Is the honey comb dial visible only certain lighting conditions ? I was not able to see the honey comb pattern on the dial clearly :(

i thought it was 36mm at first
Team 41mm
Is it real gold
Get better lighting for videos :)
The day section is a little off center. The right side the the day drops lower than the left side.
what's the price of this watch?
Ooh

Yes, you can!
Would you take a kidney as a partial payment? :-( At least I can dream of one day owning one of these.

really insane these pieces and the day complication is probably the most useful.
To big.
Ice it out broke boii

Very mean n no culture. Just plain greedy.
Very nice fake, notice how the second hand doesnt move until he moved his watch. Swiss made fake
ray pierce 1. That's what automatic movements do. 2. There is no such thing as Swiss made replicas. They're ALL made in China.
You're insane.
pretty sure it was a joke...
