When my daughter was in graduate school and settling into her apartment for the duration I helped get organize her kitchen. She had a very large and wide drawer next to her gas stove which I discovered was the perfect spot for her spices. I lined the drawer and organized the spices by color and use. She loved that they were right next to the stove, it made cooking a little easier 🙂
I organize my spices by category according to how I cook. My brain knows. Every day items (like garlic /onion powder), herbs, custom blends, sweet and baking stuff... Your pantry is beautiful and your videos are always educational and satisfying!
I resonate with your logic on almost everything. The spices, for me, would have to be alphabetized. But that’s my thing. It made me happy that you did the rainbow because it made you happy. I do my closet by rainbow within the long sleeve, short sleeve, sleeveless categories. I am loving seeing your new videos pop up because I just KNOW something good is coming. 😍😂

I am new to your channel, I think seeing everything in order it is so pleasing to the eye. For me it makes me grounded and I can focus more when you have an organization system for yourself. We love having the toaster and microwave in the pantry! It clears up so much counter space! I organize my spices by type of food. Mexican, Italian, baking, etc. I don't have nearly as many spices as you though!
That's an interesting idea. I like the baking part. But first coffee said she puts some baking things in bins so all can come out at once. I need to see if any of that can work for me with dry items and spices.
For my spice collection I use lazy susans and organise by oriental, Asian and European spices. My microwave is in the pantry as well, as we don’t use it that often.

Looks amazing! I don’t have that large of a pantry but I can definitely benefit from you ideas. I do use the OXO containers and some baskets and risers, but there is always room for improvement. Your energy in your third trimester is incredible.

The pantry looks very nice and very user friendly. After 30+years of marriage my husband and I will still kiss good bye but usually with an added reminder not to have too much fun at Home Depot. lol. Put a serving plater under your toaster. If you leave it in the pantry, it will contain the crumbs. If you decide to move the toaster in and out, it will be easier. My serving plater is a rectangle and fits perfectly, I think you could find something perfect for your space. Worth it!
Your pantry looks great with the containers you already owned. I have a couple of suggestions. 1. Use your "back stock" first. The dry goods you have in airtight containers is going to stay fresh a lot longer than what's in the bag with a chip clip holding it closed. 2. Olive oil should be kept in a dark bottle. There is a reason it's always sold in a green bottle ( or huge amounts in a metal container lol) I so impressed that you are already doing your organizing such a short time after moving!
Great idea! Since the pantry is the dark the olive oil usually isn't an issue but for those keeping it out on their countertops thats a really good point!!

Lovely pantry! I organize my spices by type so I have my primarily baking spices together and my cooking spices together. Cooking spices/herbs are organized into used a lot vs. used sometimes categories. I have a round lazy suzan with sides and dividers and so each divided section can hold a category.
My daughter has a Cricut and she uses her transfer tape a couple of times before it looses its adhesive. With the new house it might be nice to get a few uses with all of the labeling.
So organized and beautiful! Do you think you would consider the kitchen aid on your kitchen counter? I found I use mine so much more not having to lug it out every time. Of course, I am pretty old so carrying that think around is a difficult chore.

For my spices I organize by category in separate bins. For example, Italian, French, Mexican, and Japanese spices, etc. as I cook a lot of different ethnic foods. I have a special section for all of my peppers and salts as well.

I always freeze my new flour bags for a couple days to ensure if any weevil eggs are in the bag that they die. I know it’s gross but the likelihood is there.

I love organizing and I’m always looking for better ways to organize. I like the idea of using what you have on hand first, then deciding how you want a space to look. I’m also a big labeler. I’m not as consistent as you are as I use 3x5” index cards that I cut in half (1 1/2 x 2 1/2) and then using aTomBow marker, write the item name. I then place a wide piece of tape over the back of the label so that the when placed inside a clear container, the name faces out. Love the after of this pantry! For the spices, what do you mean by Rainbow Colors?
Totally, no need to go out and buy things unnecessarily! Hey that is a great way to do it! I just mean that I organized the spices by color in order of they "typical rainbow"

I got larger containers than I see on most youtube vids because I wanted something where it's super easy to get measuring spoons in and out without making a mess. Mine are also square. I love having the larger openings and would recommend to others.
Hello Sophie, I love how you have organized your pantry can I ask if your home is brand new if not did you have to clean it or were there a team of cleaners that cleaned it before you moved in? I have just got my new house but it is filthy I have been there all day today just cleaning the kitchen it was thick in grease yuck!
Thanks so much! The seller actually had it professionally cleaned (how lucky for us!), although I am still finding some places I need to do a bit of cleaning myself. If you are already moving in it may be too late to get the professional deep clean with everything empty but I would at least try to clean as you go. So wipe down cabinets etc before you load them up.
One more small criticism, I'm always skeptical of organizational videos done on spaces that haven't been used before. I'm always rearranging things when I live with spaces and determining how things will work. (omg you mentioned that at the beginning!) I do alphabetical for spices. I have a small media cabinet I put them on as well as some pretty things like le creuset mini cocottes, fiesta cream and sugar, le creuset ramekins and creme brulee dishes.
Haha I am the same way, things just move around with organizing and that's okay! I typically try to start with what products I already own if possible to avoid spending money on solutions that might not work. Of course there are exceptions but most of the things I use to organize you will see I repurpose all over the house! So if it doesn't end up working in one spot I can usually find another place it helps out
I just found your chanel and omg I'm obsessed. I found my happy place 😄. I love tidying up, organizing and decluttering (cleaning not so much). It's so rewarding, but often I have a hard time finding motivation to get startet or staying on top of things with two little kids (6mo and almost 3y) and quite a messy husband. He never puts things back in their place so I'm definitely going to start labeling, maybe it helps 😂 One question, where do you keep the original boxes/bottles after you re-fill yours and there is still something left? Room-wise or do you have one big closet for it? All the best for this new phase in your life. Thank you so much! I do have one bin at the bottom of the pantry for backstock and items that have a bit of leftover in them. I never want to get to the point where I have more than that bin. to me that starts to defeat the purpose of decanting when you have so much backstock and extra products!
When you have little bits of food that don’t fit in container, do you try and use that up first? I try to do that. Turned out beautiful 😍. Alpha order for me!
A nice pantry! And I like labels but I think I would like mine black on the plastic containers because stuff like flour and sugar is already white and I would not be able to see the letters then if the letters are also white. And you are right, labeling things is just necessary. I just live alone but I have boxes and stuff in my flat that I sometimes think 'what is in there?' So, I guess I will need to label some more after I've decluttered. ( The space underneath the kitchen sink is a nightmare right now 😑😂)

We just finished a kitchen remodel and have a pull out, five shelf pantry between the double oven ( I have the same one you do!) and fridge. Any tips on how to best organize one of those?
Is pantry w/doors in the corner common? It seems like a much better use of space than some awful cabinetry that can exist in corners. I actually forget how difficult corner storage can be until I watch yt videos. My kitchen now is kind of an L space on two perpendicular walls, but there is a door going outside separating the two, so we don't have corner cabinets.

this is a great tip. I use some kind of baking pan with raised sides. Somehow it fits the toaster perfectly. I think I already had it.

I put spices that I use most often in front, then work my way back, I also put all the different salts together, peppers together, etc.

I love organizing and I’m always looking for better ways to organize. I like the idea of using what you have on hand first, then deciding how you want a space to look. I’m also a big labeler. I’m not as consistent as you are as I use 3x5” index cards that I cut in half (1 1/2 x 2 1/2) and then using aTomBow marker, write the item name. I then place a wide piece of tape over the back of the label so that the when placed inside a clear container, the name faces out. Love the after of this pantry! For the spices, what do you mean by Rainbow Colors?
Totally, no need to go out and buy things unnecessarily! Hey that is a great way to do it! I just mean that I organized the spices by color in order of they "typical rainbow"
The pantry looks great. I really need to get uniform spice jars. My herbs and spices are in alphabetical order but different size and type containers. Thank you for the inspiration. 😘
I got larger containers than I see on most youtube vids because I wanted something where it's super easy to get measuring spoons in and out without making a mess. Mine are also square.
I love having the larger openings and would recommend to others.
Uniform anything makes SUCH a difference in the overall look of a space!

Hello Sophie, I love how you have organized your pantry can I ask if your home is brand new if not did you have to clean it or were there a team of cleaners that cleaned it before you moved in? I have just got my new house but it is filthy I have been there all day today just cleaning the kitchen it was thick in grease yuck!
Thanks so much! The seller actually had it professionally cleaned (how lucky for us!), although I am still finding some places I need to do a bit of cleaning myself. If you are already moving in it may be too late to get the professional deep clean with everything empty but I would at least try to clean as you go. So wipe down cabinets etc before you load them up.

One more small criticism, I'm always skeptical of organizational videos done on spaces that haven't been used before. I'm always rearranging things when I live with spaces and determining how things will work. (omg you mentioned that at the beginning!)
I do alphabetical for spices. I have a small media cabinet I put them
on as well as some pretty things like le creuset mini cocottes, fiesta cream and sugar, le creuset ramekins and creme brulee dishes.
Haha I am the same way, things just move around with organizing and that's okay! I typically try to start with what products I already own if possible to avoid spending money on solutions that might not work. Of course there are exceptions but most of the things I use to organize you will see I repurpose all over the house! So if it doesn't end up working in one spot I can usually find another place it helps out

I love tidying up, organizing and decluttering (cleaning not so much). It's so rewarding, but often I have a hard time finding motivation to get startet or staying on top of things with two little kids (6mo and almost 3y) and quite a messy husband. He never puts things back in their place so I'm definitely going to start labeling, maybe it helps 😂
One question, where do you keep the original boxes/bottles after you re-fill yours and there is still something left? Room-wise or do you have one big closet for it?

Thank you so much! I do have one bin at the bottom of the pantry for backstock and items that have a bit of leftover in them. I never want to get to the point where I have more than that bin. to me that starts to defeat the purpose of decanting when you have so much backstock and extra products!
When you have little bits of food that don’t fit in container, do you try and use that up first? I try to do that. Turned out beautiful 😍. Alpha order for me!
I do too! The less backstock the better! I hate keeping just a little bit extra so I'm with you!

A nice pantry! And I like labels but I think I would like mine black on the plastic containers because stuff like flour and sugar is already white and I would not be able to see the letters then if the letters are also white. And you are right, labeling things is just necessary. I just live alone but I have boxes and stuff in my flat that I sometimes think 'what is in there?' So, I guess I will need to label some more after I've decluttered. ( The space underneath the kitchen sink is a nightmare right now 😑😂)
I used to have black and switched to white, I love both but have recently been enjoying how subtle the white looks!

We just finished a kitchen remodel and have a pull out, five shelf pantry between the double oven ( I have the same one you do!) and fridge. Any tips on how to best organize one of those?
Deep drawer bins are awesome for pull out shelves. I love the iDesign ones - look for the Linus deep drawer bins
Is pantry w/doors in the corner common? It seems like a much better use of space than some awful cabinetry that can exist in corners. I actually forget how difficult corner storage can be until I watch yt videos. My kitchen now is kind of an L space on two perpendicular walls, but there is a door going outside separating the two, so we don't have corner cabinets.
I have seen a fair amount of kitchens with pantries in the corner. That is such a great point, it does avoid those pesky corner cabinets!
