Once Abaddon becomes the 5th Chaos God everyone not part of Chaos, including the Emperor, is screwed!
He could have won if the Emperor was a real God like he is now or he embraces chaos which is worst.
Well Dan Abnett wrote the 3 final books before Horus is dead, he probably wants Loken to be the one that helps the Emperor kill Horus. So Sanguinius broken body saw by him probably finally harden Loken’s resolve that Horus cannot be save at all even with the Emperor’s help and must die.
Maybe with Sanguinius not around Loken will be delusional and thinks Horus can still be saved and will not fight him and got knock out allowing the Emperor to pretend to be him later to trick Horus and finally kill him.
4:06 Uhm Majorkill? I think this piece of art may be AI generated. Look at the eyes, those things are wacky! Also the left arm is freakishly smaller than the other.
Oh also thanks for the video!
Ive a serious unrelated question, ive not been able to get an answer to from anyone knowlegeble about setting and its really bothering me, so please read to the end;
is toilet paper considered an essential war production, whitin imperium, due to its existance making huge diference for how much power nurgle gets from materium, or does imperium not provide toilet paper, as they want to keep existance of chaos as Secret as possible to regular citicen and enforced law to use toilet paper, would raise questions that would inevetably bring nurgle into public consiosness and increese his cult precence, or is toilet paper and its production mechanics kept secret, whitin cells beneth imperial palace, for when similar way to destroy other chaos gods is discovered, so they all could be wiped out whitin a week?
Just like Leman, the writers removed the damage he did to Horus from the story. Leman in the original left a wound on Horus' soul that the Emperor was able to exploit while his Legion beat Chaos senseless, in the current timeline Leman was the sole reason Horus got this strong and his entire Legion was less than useless. Sanguinius in the original managed to make a hole in Horus and allow the Emperor to find the wound Leman left and Ollanius was the reason the Emperor stopped hilding back. None of that is in the current lore. Too many Chaos worshippers in the writers room.
Most of the lore was told from word of mouth by a heavily propagandized in-universe society. Of course history was heavily embellished and kept vague to make their mytic heroes look much better than they actually were especially after 10000 years.
@@ghostofsparta757 and that somehow justifies making a shit story?
@@Voxcast07 In what way?
As I often say, someone in the Writing Team must have had the most massive Hateboner for Leman Russ that ever existed, every single decision the Wolfking makes is the worst in the Situation, every Piece of Lore where he was in the right was retonned to make him look bad, he has no badass Moments, everything he does makes the Situation worse and every Battle he takes is a loss or a pyrric Victory at best.
@@ghostofsparta757average heretical coping, face the wall.
Something important to remember is that, as you said, Sanguinius believed he was fated to die fighting Horus, and he was in the end, but that fate enabled him to do many of the absolutely insane feats that saved the Imperium. So while Sanguinius died and lost the battle, he really did win the war for the Loyalists and that means something.
They talk about it a lot in the Siege, all the Blood Angels going like yo what the fuck are you doing dad, you’re flying right through their anti-air! He was just chilling, stretching his wings.
I really like this take, as much as I have a few problems with some of the lore points the general story went.
Sanguinius was fated to die hopelessly in his fight for Horus. That was his fate. Instead of accepting it, he turned it into the loyalists favour: His death would not me meaningless. The certainty of that death became hope for Sanguinius. It gave him the strength needed to hold the siege for such a long time. The strength he needed to simultaneously best Ka'banda, Angron and seal the Eternity Gate after maximizing the loyalist lives saved by it.
Sanguinius never lost to Horus, he lost to the Champion of Chaos Incarnate. And he changed his fate: his death was not meaningless
Horus: "Oh, you're approaching me? So instead of running away, you come to me?"
Sanguinius: "I can't beat the shit out of you without getting closer!"
Horus: "Then come as close as you like!"
Jojo moment 😂
Literally 😂
Horus took cranked Warp Roids and beat one of the best members of the setting to death as if Sangy was his ex that took his PS5. Big E's crashout on Horus and just wiping him from existence was understandable.
Horus getting wiped got retconned lol
Not in the new canon. And don't worry, they'll both be back in like 20 years when the GeeDubs shareholders realize they want gold plated yachts from their model sales lol
If the writers want it to be extra spicy, they bring back Sangy as Chaos corrupted and Horus will be redeemed
Sanguinius: *perishes*
Man-Emperor of Mankind: "MY BABY BOY!!!"
Ollannius Pius: "Big E, no!"
Man-Emperor of Mankind: "BIG E, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!" *fires a powerful golden blast at Horus with a massive explosion*
Nice TFS reference
Hahaha, oh man, you just reminded me. That Cell moment lives rent free in my head.
Big E goes super saiyan ultra instinct after seeing his dead angel son and begins to summon the biggest most powerful spirit bomb ever.
Horus begins to make amends and bring his brother back while he simultaneously shits all over his pants.
My baby boy!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Horus: Join me bro-
Sanguinius: STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sanguinius did win, 1v1 he spanked Horus' ass, hard. Then Horus was 100% healed by Chaos and he had to rely on them to win. It was a BS defeat and Sanguinius deserved better, but that's what the grim darkness is usually about. Most of the time you can be the best, you can overcome evil, but you still die.
Does it count as spanking him if it was fruitless?
@@gojtron yes it still counts lol? it was only fruitless because Horus called upon Chaos to save him.
@@husky1037 did he though? Horus wasn’t really going as hard as Sanguinius was in his Primark form, he was talking and trying to sway him over, not really trying to kill him
@@Voxcast07 and? That's what happens when you don't take a fight seriously, you get your shit rocked like Horus did KEKW. Plus Sanguinius had to beat Angron, fight thousands of traitors, banished Kabanda, and held the eternity gate before fighting Horus. Horus definitely got his shit rocked and honestly if Sanguinius didn't have to do all the shit before fighting Horus, he might have beat him in Chaos form.
@Voxcast07 If both were in their prime Primarch condition-no Chaos influence, and Sanguinius not exhausted or wounded-I believe Sanguinius would defeat Horus. Horus is primarily known for his charisma rather than exceptional combat skills.
Too soon. The fight doesn't even happen for another 28,000 years or so

So your suggesting the viewer should give the creator thier watchtime on the creator's terms? Yeah I doubt my viewers would agree if I said that. Besides I am just giving feedback, take it or leave it.
The sanguinius falling to black rage and wounding the emperor would of been the best ending. I'll die on this hill.
I think we’re forgetting the fact that it’s referred to as the angelic sacrifice sangy knew that he wasn’t going to survive this, though he wanted to and held out hope that he would. The odds were stacked against him. He’s already seen all these different outcomes and he knew his death would trigger the black rage and his son’s turning the tide of battle back on Terra. Thus the angelic sacrifice
Well, that’s a magnificent opening scene
I think this battle,if it can called that needs this perspective. Sanquines had no idea what Horus his brother had become. Sure he had some idea, visions word of mouth other various plot points. But he had NO idea what Horus WAS. Which at that point was just a meat puppet for the literal 4 main powers that be make up chaos. Could he have won against Horus? Hands down just having read the book, yes. Against what after years of drinking deep in chaos coolaid? No. Because by the time time old angel boy fought his brother that final time he wasn't fighting Horus. He was fighting 4 gods in the visage of a man he THOUGHT he once knew. He made his final stand knowing he wouldnt win. It was in the end not about winning. Sanguines knew he wouldn't live beyond that point. He fought anyway. That was the point. The guy spent years fighting fate, to the very end.
Even then he was holding up against "God" Horus in a physical Fight. What catched him in the End were Horus´s Psycher Power, he never had before.
@fuchsmichael93 warp spaghetti, it's like cheat codes. Sure ya win, but did you though?
@ If you kill your Enemy that is usually considered a Win, yes. Not necesseraly an honorable one but a Win nonetheless
The way I read the whole "was the death pointless?" thing is by thinking about it in terms of Sanguineous's vision. Sanguineous was never going to win, but it was foretold that he would die by Horus' hand.
So even if Sanguineous had waited or survived that day, it would have meant the Emperor would have to fail in order for Horus to later be able to kill Sanguineous.
Sanguineous had to die as soon as possible, else Horus would be protected by fate.
Amazing Video! Thank you so much for the shoutout as well! Looking forward to working with you guys on the next diorama projects! Boom! 💪
This morning, i finally reached the ferrus pep talk portion of EaD vol2, so this ON POINT content foe me!
What If the Emperor crafted Isha a physical body and put her soul into It as a response to the scattering of the Primarchs.
isha's trapped in the garden of nurgle, at that time, empty couldn't take on the chaos gods. plus, she's still an Eldar goddess, so not only would there be no need to give her a physical body but she wouldn't even want to listen to big E
@@isuckatusernames4297 He doesn't need to take them on, he is The most scheming person in all of 40k, after Tzeentch and, depending on which interpretation you subscribe to either stole power directly from the chaos gods or got 20... 21...22...23...24? While really flipping difficult, chaos is not a united force and Nurgle isn't known for his cleverness, If he teams up with The laughing God I can absolutely see It happen.
Isha was captured and tortured by the Arch god of the Eldar, then witnessed their fall/ the birth of Slaneesh, was tortured by she who thirsts, was kidnapped by Nurgle and tortured by him, while also having 0 opportunity to actually help the Eldar, only suffering of her and her children, I'll be very surprised, if she refuses the opportunity to leave and actually help the Eldar in the matirium, while screwing over chaos, they will absolutely have disagreements but for the moment they could absolutely put those aside.

It was explained clearly in EATD part 2 that Sanguinius had to fight Horus or the Emperor would die. Given his known fate of dying to Horus, if he had fought him AFTER the Emperor fought him, Horus would've won the war because by implication Horus beat E. If he died before the Emperor fought him, his fate would be fulfilled, and the Emperor would have a chance.
This is very important, and missed.
I think you can argue that Sanguinius' rejection of Horus sets him up to be killed.
He's desperate for someone to accept his overtures and join him, with both Sanguinius and Big E rejecting him, that leaves him open to "Loken" accepting him.
Video idea: each factions' opinions on the birth of Slannesh.
Humanity: this fucking sucks
Eldar: this fucking sucks
Chaos: this fucking sucks
Necron: this fucking sucks
Kabal: this fucking sucks
If you think Sanguinius' death is pointless, you haven't been paying attention to the continual heavy allegory between Sanguinius and Jesus. Abnett goes full Stations of the Cross at the end. He even has Sanguinius fall three times, and die at the 'place of the skull' (of Ferrus Manus), the translation of Golgotha. 40K has always been heavy on the space Catholicism. There still remains plenty of room in the lore, if they ever decided to play things this way, for Sanguinius' sacrifice to be what redeemed humanity from the wrath of the Emperor, or at least his ascension as the Dark King. But our boy Sang is absolutely written in the Heresy series to be very painfully obviously space Jesus. He knows he is going to die. He goes to die for the Emperor, humanity and the forces of "good" anyway. Chaos tries to tempt him, but he does not fall. Even 40K Christmas is named after him, to labour the point even more heavily.
If Sanguinius is supposed to be Jesus, why didn't he come back after three days?
@@ttpbroadcastingcompany.4460 he's working on a significantly longer timeline, also known as "When GW Really Really Needs Money"
@@ttpbroadcastingcompany.4460because unlike in Christian lore, in the grim darkness of the dark future even demigods pay the price.
I can go a bit too long on this - I went to a Jesuit university and they allow for some pretty heretical interpretations ( I am not religious, but factually they have been expelled many times from Catholic dogma). One was that an omniscient, omnipotent god would have know exactly that Jesus would be arrested and killed and was in fact part of divine plan to perpetuate the cycles of sin and redemption. This teacher’s thesis was that Jesus has the chance to break that cycle by avoiding arrest and continuing his teachings. Kinda like Gandhi - but that’s my 20 year old mind interpretation of the lecture.
I think in “proper “ WH40k lore Sanguinius death was fated - but he showed that humanity can face doom and still meet it with aplomb and courage. He says so as much in his speech when defending the gate. “I’d rather not be here…”
I agree with most of this.
And because of the very obvious catholic undertones he should and will (eventually) return
The resurrection of Jesus Christ (or space Jesus)
Big E didn't even want Sangy to go on the mission after his fight with Angron, but Sangy reasoned that if he stayed behind then Horus would kill the Big E, leading to their fight later on. Basically, if they didn't fight there, then they would have fought again later with the same outcome. At least with his current death, he gave the Big E a shot at beating Horus. They were always going to fight and Sangy was always going to lose, but his sacrifice gave the universe a chance. Totally awesome.
Your telling me this mf was standing on the 2nd floor the whole time, his setup has ground floor energy

Wow I think this is the earliest I've seen one of majorkills video
Sanguinius without the damage he took during the siege would probably be able to defeat Horus.
He was the strongest primarch when it comes to 1 on 1 fighting, I mean the dude literally fought a Imperator titan one on one and won while Angron who is also a extremely strong fighter could only stop a Warhound titan.
Yes but Horus was in that moment a vessel for the chaos gods. Even the Emperor couldn't defeat Horus at that point in a normal Duell
Horus was so strong that the only way the emperor could beat him was to absorb so much power he almost became a chaos god.. Sanguinius was dead the moment he stepped foot on the Vengeful Spirit

Just an idea for a Video Major. I know you handle lore. But perhaps you and chris could do a deep dive into how to make Dioramas for the more... Unskilled plebeians out there. Like myself. I have never made a diorama myself. Yet I badly want to. I'm not creative, in the slightest and wouldn't know how to approach making one. Ooo an actual original and interesting question. Instead of “what if” it’s “could he have”
Yo that samg amd horus minis are fucking so hard. Goddamn bro, good shit!
As a fan of sanguinius, I adore his death. It seems pretty clear that he’s meant to be a Christ-like figure in the universe, given his inner turmoil, and the focus on his god and human parts, so his terrible martyrdom does even more for that image. I think that parallel just adds so much to sanguinius’ character, and makes me wonder if we’ll ever see sanguinius come back to life. Unfortunately the current writers seem to have removed some of the pivotal moments that made this a martyrdom though, so I’m afraid they might not fulfill his character
I’m totally that nerd who said, “…but the spear, Majorkill!”
I've been drinking water and eating vegetables! I'm not used to eating lots of vegetables. I've been cracking farts like it's my job description. I hate my job and I've never felt more fulfilled in my profession. Thanks majorkill!
No one: "..."
Horus: "IT'S HAMMER TIME!"
Rest in Peace, Sanguinius. His heroic sacrifice wasn't in vain and will never be forgotten. I also think that part of the reason Horus wanted to brutalize him so badly is because Sanguinius was able to beat him in a fair duel and Horus' pride couldn't handle that. Sanguinius reminded him that he was totally reliant on Chaos, which Horus never wanted to be at the start of the Heresy, and it hurt his ego to realize how far he had fallen, especially in the face of the ONE GUY who was the embodiment of honor, duty, and selfless sacrifice. If he didn't make a physical break/weakness in Horus' armor, he at least made a mental one, which the Emperor was then able to exploit.
I still like my own head cannon where Sanguinius fell to the black rage and killed horus.
Majorkill i have a what if idea for you, that would be nice if you made.
What if the bigE didn't pussyfoot sround horus and stomped him out before he was injured, dodgeing the whole corpse emperror thing.
(Maybe even saving his perpetual friend?)
This fight reminded me of Bane when he breaks Batmans back in the sewers. Horus definetly had the same accent as Bane. "Oh you think the warp is your ally".
Please do the Emperor vs Horus!!!
Maybe if Sanguinius had the Apollonian Spear, or some anti-warp weapon that disrupts Horus's connection to the warp. Like a Black Stone Spear or something the Necrons made.
Liking for the fabulous hawk-boy.
Sanguinius had the traitor on his knees, he flew up high in the air, poised to stoop down and impale the bastard. But this move was his unmaking. As he flew above Horu the full imensity of the arch traitors baldness filled his vision, light reflected from a hundred torches from the head of Horus straight into the angels eyes. Blinded, he lost control of his wings and crashed helplessly into the ground. Suddenly is foresight overwhelmed him, new visions crashed through his mind, his own hairline, receding, his glorius golden mane falling out in clumps. He realised with despair that these visions were not only true, but unavoidable. That with true certainty, within only a few years he to would lose all his hair. He remained on the ground as Horus approached, he had no will to rise and fight on, death was better than what he had fortold. He lay in shame as Horus raised his mace.
Counterpoint,
During the battle, Horus is forced to reveal the full extent of the power granted to him by the Chaos Gods. This is not something he does lightly. For much of the war, Horus had relied on his cunning, charisma, and overwhelming force to dominate his enemies and bend others to his will. Yet, in this moment, Sanguinius’s sheer determination and refusal to yield, even in his weakened state, push the Warmaster to unveil his true form. This act is more than a show of strength; it is an admission of how far Horus has fallen. He is no longer the brother and hero the Imperium once revered, but a vessel for the Chaos Gods, their chosen instrument to tear humanity apart.
Horus’s transformation during the fight carries both a psychological and symbolic weight. For Sanguinius, it is a devastating confirmation of his brother’s complete corruption and the scale of the threat Chaos now poses. The figure before him is not the leader who once stood beside him in battle, but a monstrosity empowered by the darkest forces in existence. The revelation strips away any remaining illusion of Horus’s humanity, marking him as an abomination that must be destroyed. This moment sets the stage for the Emperor’s final confrontation, as Sanguinius’s sacrifice lays bare the true horror of the Warmaster’s betrayal and the stakes of the war for the Imperium.
This lowkey the saddest part of 40k for me. I fking love The Angel and I usually avoid videos talking about this fight but I love MK so I am watching
Okay, so I really hope people see this. The old lore is still in a way valid. Were it not for sangys demise, John Grammaticus wouldn't have his magic angel feather needed to open portals and to tie the thread across space, time, and the warp needed to retroactively guide ollanius and the special dagger (anathame needed to kill horus) to the emporer when he needed said dagger the most ( duel with horus). So yes his death did have a hand in the demise of horus lupercal puppet to dark gods.( this is a repost of my comment on your short really want people to see this)
I've never had an addictive personality. but jeez finally another video haha. I hope the rest and getting back on the grind was great but please don't starve us like that haha(Jokes Jokes). Can't wait for some salamander videos currently at Born of Flame with the HH books.
One of those early close up pics of Sanguinius looks a.i. as fuck. The eyes are belending into his face and the heart on his armor doesnt know what its doing.
Sanguinius did speak to Horus during the fight. After the first clash Sanguinius hit the Neo pose from the end of the Matrix and says "You lack brother".
DAY 119: A video about, what if there were no loyalist elements in the traitor legions, this would also count for omegon and magnus. So there would be no need for the culling at isthvaan and weakening of the traitor forces. Giving the traitors a boost in numbers and cohesion, plus a lot of important named characters. it would be very intresting to see what all the effects would be on the possible succes of the heresy.
@ 8:26 i always thought of that. How darkness could be faster than light. But whenever i ask teachers they just shrugged and said doesnt exists :/
Sanguinius vision told him that if he dies fighting Horus then the Emperor has a chance to win. Which means he needed to get to Horus first and attempt to either defy fate or die. Aka, the Emperor then arrives next to fight Horus and wins.
7:10 LOL he called you out like Kendrick calling out Drake
The sad thing is that while from humanity’s, including the traitor’s, point of view all death of heresy were pointless and needless, but from chaos’ they were entertaining and symbolic etc. strengthening them and setting up the fate they wanted. Sanguinius’ death was very necessary for them because despite his personal doubts, he was a powerful symbol and one of few with not only charisma but also wisdom and personal relationships to unite and rule humanity. Guilliman is at the end of the day the gofer behind the throne, Lion; Corax; Russ; Dorn and Jaghatai too much of specialists and Vulcan is teacher and father not a king. Sagnuinius could have actually acted as a regent and unify primarchs and imperium, which would have been bad for chaos long term plans. Not to mention without juiced Horus there weren’t really any who could 1v1 him. Same reason why Malcador’s loss was so devastating, except with him a lot of knowledge was lost. If either had survived the heresy I would argue imperium would be in a way better place.
Honestly this is why "teams" of writers tend to just disappoint fans. The constant retcons and inconsistencies just end up screwing up what was originally epic. I was never a fan of the Sanguinius fell during the duel theory as I personally felt it lessened the character, but the canon writing that annoyed me was the constant redoing of his visions. I stand by the Sanguinius book Fear to Tread, he saw multiple visions there but they weren't just variations. He saw one path where he lived, the Emperor died and the Imperium raised him up to be the next Emperor. He saw another where he died but the Emperor would survive in the state he is currently in, but with hope he would return. He chose to hold to his loyalty and save the Emperor. Sanguinius is the embodiment of noble sacrifice for what is right and the hope of a better tomorrow.
Dear Mr Majorkill. If I may suggest; make the dioramas smaller and more compact. You dont need to make them huge, to make them awesome an impactfull. Try to see what you can get packed into 10x10cm or even smaller! That also means you can spend more time on the details.
When I read this I nearly cried.
imagine spending all that time on a diorama and not smoothing out the stepping lines from the 3d printer... gross
