224 Goes from Torque Converter to Straight Chain

- Hey everyone welcome back! So a lot of people say a straight chained mini bike is faster! Is that really the case? We already have a 60 mph 224 Max Performance running a juggernaut torque converter! So lets take that off and throw a centrifugal clutch on and see what happens. Watch till the end to see the speedometer comparison!

You need to add an exhaust bracket to keep it from wobbling around that'll keep your bolts from walking off and less things will melt.

Kind of strange tho I lost 1000ish rpms going to the straight chain. Went from 6200ish to 5200ish.

Ya it took about a half mile to get the 62 mph. A better cam some stiffer springs and for me to stop being scared and try to port a head lol

i recently did a 212 swap on my bt200x since the chain kinda touches the side frame will i also have to cut it down like you did ?
What part of the frame is it touching?
How does it work off road? Where I ride there's one hill my bike would never make with that gearing.
I didn't take it off road with the straight chain yet and I'm not sure I will. I have a new belt coming for the torque converter and I'll put that back on when I get the belt.
I've seen a couple vids that warn against running that clutch at higher RPM because they can come apart. Thoughts?
I haven't ever hear of clutches coming apart which videos are saying that?
Yeah they do, I had my clutch come off and fly everywhere and even broke in half which a piece hit me and cut me open
That's awesome!! How you get the minibike to go 60mph? I manage to only do 47mph with torque converter,jets carb intake and headers..
If you're getting 47 with just that on a Coleman 200 you're doing pretty good. A lot of guys are lucky to get just over 40. What engine?

@@Tp-vv7vi OK. His built 224 would have at least a 6 HP advantage over a stage 1 196 that is maxing out at 3900 RPM or so.
I have a 224 with billet internals and 265 cam with 22lb springs, I'm still doing 49 on a torque converter. I previously had a stock 212 hemi with just a governor removal doing 48, idk how, maybe the belt slips?
a lot of them detroit guys are running the big sprocket and clutch. no slo torque, but they are on the street.. and your flange will break again if you dont support that exhaust pipe
It has a support on there now. I don't remember if it did in this video or not but it has one now.. I like the juggernaut set up like I'm running on this bike

Just bought predator 224. Wondering if I will need risers when running a torque converter? Let me know your thoughts thanks.
Yep you'll need 1 Inch risers to clear the backing plate to the frame. Some people cut the backing plate along the bottom to clear the frame but I have not done that myself.

Hey so I have a question I want to go fast on my mini bike so should I use a clutch enstead of a Torque converter?
You will get a higher top speed with a clutch

Just takes little longer to get there but if you gear it right it will fly I'm running a 10 tooth comet racing clutch and my rear sprocket is a 68 tooth and size 40 chain on a set of 10" wheels.
What is the smaller red round filter for?
That is just a crank case breather. I don't want it to suck in any dirt into the valve cover.
what kind of chain do i need to buy i got a coleman200-u w 224cc predator but idk what chain to buy for it because the regular #35chain doesn’t fit
The rear chain on a Coleman 200-u is a 420 chain. You'll have to match the clutch to it so it will have to take a 420 chain also.
420 for sure I have a 224 predator max performance and it runs a 420 chain

Straight chain is better for street riding a lot of time you need more torque for trail riding so as long as you gear it good it will be ok but you could burn clutches quick

With the juggernaut set up it hits 60 straight chained it hits 62
