When you come to think of it, pretty much all of the Toy Story tie-in games were actually pretty decent. Especially the console version of this game and even the one based on the 2nd movie for the PS1. Would certainly like to see that possibly in the future.
Wait that wasn’t the real ending? I would be laughing so hard knowing that kids would be playing this and would be traumatized for life seeing Woody melt to death.
Gotta say as a Lego fan with a good amount of Lego Mario sets, I love how accurate and true to form you stayed with matching the facial animations to the actual print of the face tiles lol. Awesome job there.
I’m pretty sure that this was the first game I ever fully completed as a kid I replayed it a few years ago when I was recovering from tooth removal and I still think that it really holds up. It’s very different to the console version but it’s equally enjoyable in its own way
9:34 You're partially right. Some magnetic chalkboards exist, but standard classroom chalkboards like this one are typically not. I think at some point in development, this was supposed to be a whiteboard or something, but they changed it to a chalkboard at some point. Even then, like chalkboards, only some whiteboards are actually magnetic, so I don't even know anymore.

Your channel is always welcome. Pretty sure I commented some years back how it's basically the best game review channel on TH-cam and I've been watching so many since about 2011.
It seems like this game wanted to be multiple things at once for better or worse. I'm glad you gave it a fair review, which is an increasing trend in your videos as of late. Also, I wasn't expecting the ending of both the DS game and this video. I didn't even know they made figures of that version of the Goomba.
09:22 I got hyped to see a back side of the Nordic box and was not expecting to get the best treat this year thus far. I have to get this tower defense game!
That ending feels like some high quality creepypasta, if I played in my childhood I would have been so confused about changing the ending, maybe the produced has some thing for creppy bad endings.
Thank you for playing this. I had this game on my Ds years ago, but after my Ds fell in the toilet, all my old ds games just disappeared. And I never found them. So makeing this video really bring back memeries.
I remember having a lot of fun with the Tower Defense minigames as well as the flying Buzz sections. For a DS movie game they put in a lot of effort into it and I had a surprisingly good time
I played through this game more times then I can count as a kid. Idk why I liked it so much but i wouldnt be suprised if i spent over 100 hours playing it.
Constant touch screen mini-games really disrupt the flow of gameplay. Imagine playing a DS game where a treasure hunter has to play a mini-game every time he opens a treasure chest, like squashing cockroaches or tracing an image while dodging lasers. That’d be a weird experience, alright!
this right here was my favorite game to play when it came out. thank you for checking out the absolutely random niche game I still pick up once a year (another one I pick up is... the DS tie-in for UP)
Something I recently learned is that this game came out on the PS2 in 2010, and it sent me into a rabbit hole. It's not the Wii version backported like how a lot of games did, it's just it's own entire other version that has nothing to do with the others beyond being based on Toy Story 3, it got it's own bundle that came with a PS2 slim for the PS2's 10th anniversary, and it was also on the PSP, and then the PSP version got released on PS Plus instead of the PS3 version of the 7th-gen version that had Zurg as a console exclusive. What the fuck
I actually played this game as a kid and the main thing I remember are the tower defense levels and Woody having no a double jump similar to Yoshi’s flutter
Being tied to the DS, this version definitely cuts down the amount of platforming you actually do in favor of the touch screen stuff contrary to the console port
Wait hold up it ACTUALLY ends like that? I thought that was a bit, but then the video ended. There is no way they actually ended it with everyone dying 💀
Wow, this actually takes cues from the Toy Story games from the SNES and N64 in terms of genre switching and graphical style respectively. Thanks for this review, Goomba. I have something new to check out.
This was not only the first ds game I ever bought with my own money but it was also the first game i ever bought from GameStop (and the first time I ever went to GameStop back in 2010) AND it was the first video game I ever beat.
I actually played this one, but for some reason I played the optional Tower Defense Mode more than the actual game. Maybe because I sucked too much at platforming and got frustrated.
I remember playing this game a ton as a kid, I recently played the console version and was pretty impressed at how good it was for a licensed movie tie-in RIP Disney Interactive and movie tie-in games in general
I was wondering why I vaguely remembered this game, then seeing the tower defense section hit me like a bus ... those sections absolutely smoked me as a kid
Toy Story 3 the video game was one of the best tie-in games I’ve ever played. It wasn’t just a movie tie-in, but also a love letter to Toy Story itself. Ironically, the Woody’s Roundup mode where you can only play as Zurg (In the PS3 version at-least), was a prototype to Disney Infinity (One of Disney’s best games). Wait, you’re not talking about the Console Versions?! Well fuck this, I’m out of here.
This game is a good example of “we need as much variety as possible to keep the kids from getting board” but it moreso resulted in the game having no identity and being a decent mixed bag at best

It's a shame Toy Story 4 didn't get a video game, would have made that movie's existence worth it
