This is absolutely true and something I've tried teaching my girls.
Whenever I've had A break up, I immediately get into NO CONTACT mode and EVERY. SINGLE. TIME they come back. Problem is, when they do, I no longer want them. If you're leaving, you need to STAY gone because there's no going back on my part.

I'm too scared that if I break all contact he wont ever reach out again. But maybe that would be for the better. I find that talking to him, when I do, I'm in this extremely happy mood and I cant stop smiling, but then afterwards when he's no longer talking to me, I feel miserable. Same here... But then it was clear he was giving up on us. So I "walked away". The reasons for the breakup was complicated. We were long distance and his Indian family wanted nothing to do with me. So he gave into the pressure of his family's plan to arrange his marriage 💔 I still care about him and in my mind I understand the situation. But my heart hurts because I wasn't good enough for him to fight for us. i’m going through the same thing and what i feel works for me is to wait if i can, don’t message him even if i’m feeling down about us not talking, try things that will take your mind off texting him, watch fun videos or speak to someone who makes you laugh i find it better to wait until he texts me if he does therefore i know he genuinely wants to talk to me and i feel less on edge during the conversation if he doesn’t message you and feel like you desperately need to text him or want to check up on him i don’t think you should fight that or at least i don’t if it’s what you feel like u need to do. it’s always going to be hard to break that habit so just do it one step at a time, only speak when u desperately need to- this is all what worked for me with the situation i’m in with my ex x
I can relate to this. My boyfriend broke up with me yesterday over text message. We had been dating for over a year and I thought he was so special. I know that I deserve so much better, for the last months he did not treat me well even though I did nothing but love him. U have to focus you yourself and cut ties with them. When u do that u just feel stronger and u get your power back. It took alot of strength from God but I said enough and got to the point when I said I'm done and I have been. I hang out with friends, I go out, I'm looking into new things etc. When u do that you realize your worth.

It is hard and tough, but you can do it. Every time I wanted to break the no contact rule, I watched this video and I told myself to just survive for today and don't think about tomorrow. I'm in the same boat, and looks like it started about the same time as you. So unfortunately I don't really have any advice for you other than *not* to contact him, like Matthew said. I already did, promising to do better and asking to get back together, and I'm sure it just made matters worse in his mind. He blocked me on social media before I really said anything, so it's not like I was harassing him to cause that. I left him a voice-mail since he blocked my number too, and leaving that message is how I pleaded with him. I left that same message in our dating app chat, and then he left the chat room. There are other platforms I could contact him on, but I won't. I made it clear in my last message that he wouldn't be hearing from me again if he didn't want to. I acknowledged his feelings, promised to do better (even though I didn't realize I did anything wrong) and said I knew after that I would have done everything I could. So since he ignored those I'll have to be moving forward, as much as it hurts. The relationship was very brief, but we quickly learned almost everything about each other, and had SO much in common, and seemed to connect very deeply. I thought I had found my soulmate, although what I told him was that he was the most amazing guy I'd ever met, and he said he'd never felt this way about anyone. I really would give anything to turn back time, I just wish I knew where I could have done better..

How long since the break up? I also react to stress like that and 7 yrs ago I had the worst break up, with someone I considered to be the love of my life. I litteraly needed 2 and a half years to ever think of a relationship with someone, i barely had a desire to see a man. It affected my health and I am still trying to fix the health issue i got afterwards. So take care of yourself. It is hard, but believe me, you'll feel strong and happy again, unfortunatelly the process is not easy. I am also going through another break up now, but I already had my big break up in life so kinda know I'll be alright... It hurts but I can handle it. And I am on my 18 days no contact... I have ups and downs but i try to control the pain when it comes. I have mixed feelings and i am mostly doing the no contact for myself. I am going through the most difficult period of my life, with mum cancer patient, my work, my master thesis... I dont need a selfish asshole in my life, that has no basic human sense and makes me feel worse during difficult time. Stay strong and focus on things that make you feel good... Make a change :)

For your information, I'm 20 and my fiancé is 21. I'm clearly not a 40-year old couch potato. My advice to women was to not date guys that are not worth it. "Waiting" for the right guy to come along doesn't literally mean to sit at home all day, it simply means to date quality type of guys who have their life together and who want a serious commitment that will lead to marriage which is was every women ultimately wants.
I got broken up with 5 hours ago. The first person I loved. I have cried non-stop and I have felt so empty and lost.... then I saw this. First video I saw when I came onto TH-cam for a distraction. +Dove Love there's a great book called "it's called a break up, because it's broken". They have a whole chapter on the no contact thing, as well as wonderful other advice. Regarding the no-contact, they write there should be no contact whatsoever for at least 60 days straight.

Same things happened to me 3 days ago, we're not that exclusive though. He told me that he is going to date someone else. I cried all the night and now I'm trying no contact method but not to bring him back, just to move on in life and to never ever see him in life not even as a friend. I went no contact initially which lasted about 2.5 months, until he reached out. I took the bait so hard because I had been waiting and waiting for this moment. But I was all too quick to forgive him and come running to his doorstep. I think even he was surprised, he even said that he ‘can’t believe I am so forgiving’... I clearly wasn’t ready at this point to approach him with a clear, strong mind, but I didn’t know that at the time. I was still very much addicted.
2 months goes by and he basically used me again as his secret affair, despite always finding the words and answers that seemed to satisfy my questions. I finally had the courage to walk away and say I deserve better. It took a moment of strength to send that message, even though I spent weeks after going back and forth on whether or not I should’ve sent it. Either way, I stuck with it. He said he couldn’t be ‘that person right now’, and that would always be his answer, it was obvious to me then.
A few more months go by, and I gave in a few times where I’d send a message letting him know I’m thinking of him or saying something kind. I thought about him every single hour of everyday. I tried to keep my distance but I’d always relapse slightly and feel I’d have to start again when I received such an average response back.
Finally, November 2019 I sent my last ‘nice’ message, knowing I was about to leave for Japan for 18 months and start a whole new life. He didn’t even finish the conversation and just left me hanging. So I decided. This was it. I didn’t sent a Christmas message, or a Happy New Year message (which I would always do), and then Valentine’s Day rolls around. I didn’t send anything to him either. But low and behold, at 7pm at night a message comes through and there’s his name staring at my screen. It says, ‘Still think about you a lot! Where are you? I hope you’re having a good time! I trust you are.’ Now, as I clutched my heart and almost fell to the ground hyperventilating, it took the entire force of universe and some very caring friends for me not to reply. I’d been waiting for a message from him for so long. I’d cried and cried, I’d dreamt of him, I would still catch myself staring at his pictures, but still, at this point I’d gone 3 months of no contact and was feeling quite good about the future. When I decided that I wouldn’t reply, and I let it sink in for a few days, after about 2 weeks I felt really powerful! I had ignored him for the first time in my life. I knew what was better for me and my well-being, and whilst ignoring him felt unnatural and unkind (in my mind), the anxiety and uncertainty I would feel if I had messaged and fell back in that loop just wasn’t worth it. I wanted to keep the high ground I’d spent so long fighting for.
His birthday passed a few weeks ago, and I also refrained from messaging him. I’m now feeling very strong, and him reaching out actually helped me with my healing process because it gave me a chance to ignore him. It gave me the choice to do so after some healing.
I am feeling really quite good about it all now, and after blocking him off everything and making sure my settings are all private, it really goes help you think about them less each day, because reminders don’t just ‘pop up’, as you go about your day.

It’s been a year since you posted this.. I am wondering how are you feeling right now? I am very much in the same situation as you i don’t know how much will power and determination i’ll be needed to not contact him and give in if he contact me.
This is so true. I was in love with a man who was emotionally unavailable and I was willing to do anything for him. When he dumped me, it broke me and I tried to get him back...it backfired. I was miserable...but now I've come out from the other side. I've cut off all contact and moved on, I start taking care of myself, loving myself, cherishing myself. I wouldn't care if he comes back. I've found someone who treats exactly the way I'm meant to be treated: respect and kindness. To all those suffering, take care of yourself, love yourself and you will survive and thrive.

So true! Relationship was bringing in a lot of stress and miscommunication, so he broke up w me. Cathee45 as soon as he broke up with me we talked for months after. First he wanted to be friends then he wanted a relationship, then he wanted to be friends again. After I started the no contact period cause I was tired of that he did reach out to me asking to be friends. So to answer your question yes he did but he hasn't reached out since. I admit I cheated once and contacted him but it was a one day weakness. Never did again. Btw he contacted me one month after I started the no contact period.

The same thing happened to me. He promised me the world, he told me I was his queen and that he wanted to do whatever he could to make me happy. Maybe it wasn’t as good as I thought. After discussing if we wanted a relationship and trying to be clear with what we wanted. About a few days later he let me down and told me it wouldn’t work because he was too busy. I felt broken inside and angry because he knew that I had been assaulted when he came back and he treated me so well compared to the other guy. He told me he felt lucky to have me in his life and that everyone should know that I should be treated like a queen. And now feel like a joke, like I’m cursed. The only reason he came back was because he was fucking lonely. I was fucking lonely too and depressed from being sexually assaulted by the last guy but I never go back to other people for my own selfishness because I want something real, disagreements and all…. I thought that maybe if I was perfect all around then I would find a lover and then it became difficult to achieve but I avoided dating until I realized I didn’t need to be perfect. I stopped obsessing about my weight and worked on trying to just become stronger. I wanted to approach dating in a different way by dating for the fun of it just to be entertained but still hang out with people and get to know them like a friend because I’m a very social person but then I would end up getting ghosted before I could ever get to go out because all they wanted was sex and I just wanted to hang out and do activities and that’s it. Maybe I should just make more friends and just travel a bunch and not even think about dating. It’s broken me so much that I just want to avoid it all together.

This advice totally works. When my ex and I broke up months ago, I was completely broken inside, I was in pain, but one thing that I knew for sure was that although I loved him so much I didn't want to get him back again. So I stopped talking to him, I deleted him on social media, I totally got away from him and now I'm moving on. I mean It is not easy to do that when you really love that person and the thing you want the most is to be by their side, but he never loved me so I have to stand up for myself, and the good thing is I feel happier and I know I deserve better. MegaSebr The main problem is that he would still want to hang out, and matter of fact he surprisingly texted me first just a couple hours ago! I’m doing well so far with the healing process despite it only being a couple of weeks as we were not in contact with each other for the past 2 weeks until now. It seems as he still genuinely wants to be friends. I’m still unsure whether or not I sure say friends. I don’t think he intends to just be texting buddies though, maybe he really wants a friendship.
So this actually works. I thought I was doing this correctly by ignoring him for a few months, I thought that was ‘raising the stakes.’ But we kept ending up where we were at the beginning. I sent him a message telling him I’m cutting him off, blocked him on everything. I spent a few months doing things I’ve always wanted to do, learning to ride, go on holiday and generally learn to have fun on my own again.
He spent months trying everything to get in contact with me and he’s now trying so hard and putting in more effort. I’m so happy and proud of him.

After he worked really hard to prove he wanted to commit we got back together in December and we've now been together for seven months. We're looking at moving in together at the end of this year and I literally have no complaints about our relationship now. Could not recommend this enough!

I want to add another comment here since I see that my inital one was liked a lot. I really truely think that the circumstance of getting back together with someone who dumped you is rarely a good idea. You deserve someone who wants you no questions asked. You don't deserve to be taken for granted..or to have to adopt some grand plan to convince someone to be with you unless you did something unfair to them. If they just made up their minds to go, then let them live with that décision. I truly think that there is only a 0.01% of people who get back with their ex that left and find it works out. I think the only way exes can work is if the breakup was mutual and to do with outside forces. But if the person just lost interest in you...respect yourself enough to say goodbye forever. I wasted too much time..even when my ex first came back, trying to make it work out. Don't make the mistake of saying emotionally attached to people and relationships that are fickle and leave you drained.

As someone who’s been through addiction before it’s shockingly accurate how similar it is. I couldn’t stop because I was scared and I got comfort from my addiction. I never walked away because when we were together I felt so secure but I knew I knew I was just clinging on to my fantasy of what could be instead of seeing it how it really was. Finally ready to move on.

A while ago I practiced the no contact rule with somebody who dumped me. It was hard but became easier and just 8 weeks later he wanted me back. As long as there was no bitterness said between two people the last time they spoke, the no contact rule works.

He left me because of his father.I got cancer after that and he wanted to be with me but troubles continued. I needed him but he let me down. I pretend that I'm okay before everyone but I'm completely broken to pieces. I just wonder how can somebody sleeps while other one is dying of pain because of him. Depression kills me slowly. This is amazing advice!! The thing is, because of the breakup I feel very vulnerable and less confident then i did before so i want my ex to come running back to me but i don't actually want him back, i just want the validation of knowing that if i DID want him back, i COULD have him back. But i realize that those are very malicious thoughts so i should just move on without that validation...
Just wanted to say how much your videos have helped me up to this point in my life. I recently with through a break up ("what he's thinking when he breaking up with you" video was amazing) this video is a sweet reminder of genuinely moving on wheter or not he does "come back " I had a freind tell me to start posting pictures and etc to not have him think I'm depressed or etc. (I'm not depressed btw lol) I'm just not exactly fully ready yet/ pretend / put a on show for him or anyone! Diamant Daughter this exact thing happened to me a couple weeks ago. I know he loved me a lot and being apart from me was hard for him and I but I feel like after I gave him the satisfaction of running back to him, it made it easier for him to move on this time. We haven’t been in contact since and it has been so difficult for me and I am trying to move on for good.

I’m going through the exact same thing now. We’re at uni together and I feel like I’ve lost my best friend. I’m in so much pain
5 weeks have past. Just talked to him for the first time since we broke up, we were alone waiting for a class and I had to say hi (i told him i wouldn't speak to him, only being polite by saying hello and goodbye cause I'm not 5 years old). Went ok. I'm getting better and better. We didn't broke up on good terms, he went full jackass and for 3 weeks we were mad at each other, I asked him countless times if he wanted to brake up, if his feelings for me had changed, he basically made a fool of me (the question was simple, yes or no, he never answered either) he told me not be ridiculous, that if we were still together it was for a reason. Then we finally talked face to face (we were at exam fase at uni, he his from the area, i live in another city and I went to my hometown) . The talked was hard, I really was in a bad place (depression and the stress from the exams), I was crying, we made peace, he went sweet on me, took me in his arms, and we lay down in bed, then he started kissing me and we got sexual (he started it, I wasn't expecting anything since the fight was still recent and we might still be hurt, but I had missed him so much I just wanted to be with him, I let myself go) after we did it, he dugged his way into my arms and fell asleep. He was so sweet to me but even then, he didn't smile once when he was with me. Anyway the next day he was still acting weird and distant, I asked him if he was alright, if we were alright and he said he didn't know. I was ready to grab a cab and go to his house to make a last big romantic gesture to save our relationship (LOL) but first I called him, and I asked him if he still loved me. He replied no. I broke down and cried, hearing that, it hurted so much... After we only talked through menssenger and we basically oficially broke up by menssenger. I know I told him I didn't want to ever talk to him again, but if I was important to him, if I ever meant anything to him, he would have had the decency to talk to me in person after that. He said he wanted us to be friends lol, sure, treat me like a fool for 3 weeks, sleeps with me the day before he tells me he doesn't love. Even funnier than that, I discoverd he used twitter to vent our relationship. Basically exposed me and our relationship and made me look like a bad girlfriend and a crazy jealous bitch. Eye opening, helped a lot to take him of the pedestal I put him on.
I made my fare share of mistakes, I wasn't perfect and because of past traumas, fears and insecurities I helped, in a way, sabottage our relationship, but i always treated him with so much love and tried to give him everything I could... He made me feel so small, even if he would say the opposite, he made me feel like my opinion and my feelings didn't really matter, he would invalidate them with logic and "arguments", even when he would fuck up, his apologies ended making me feel like it was my fault.
He is such a good guy and that is why I fell for him and why I love him, but he is also a fucking egocentrical asshole and he gave up on us because things got a little hard. You know, I thought of breaking up too when we where mad at each other, but I asked myself why I wanted to stay with him. Comfort? Fear of being alone? Neither, I didn't want to lose him because I loved him and even if we were arguing more latelly, I wanted this to work. He didn't, he ran. He gave on us and on me, when I was at my worst, its funny cause he went through hard times and I was always there for him.
Anyway, there is a lot more to say but I already said too much. I am not that angry anymore, not that sad, you have to take those and make it a strength. Allow yourself to feel pain and sadness, cry when you need to. But don't give up on yourself and your life and keep going through, it will get better and you will get better. These videos helped me a lot, reading stuff about breakups, self-esteem ect, too. Listen to music, a lot of it,IDGAF by Dua Lipa, Make Me Your Queen from Mckenna and Green Light by Lorde, helps me a lot too. You are not alone and you'll be ok, I know it's hard but things will get better.

I went through the exact same things this year. Lost my 5 years friendship, one close friend and the guy i love(and was planning to get married) for a year. I cried for months, every single night before sleep, just for us to be back, even when we were ending this he told me he loved me, until today someone showed me how he moved on and texting with a girl.
Everything about this year sucked, ruined me, but that message he sent to some random girl was the last drop.
Blocking them is a must. It isn't in a petty way, it is just necessary. There is no reason to have an ex on social media of any kind. There's no need to be sitting waiting for a text or call either. If you block them you wont even be thinking about it. Stay strong everyone, and BLOCK HIM.
