How this works:
1) Be welcoming and open and approachable. Start a conversation if you'd like to. Be warm.
2) Allow him to earn your subsequent attention. Don't play games. Trust your gut. Don't pander. Don't give more thought/energy/investment than you receive. Don't chase. Show appreciation. Take notice. Be congruent. Be warm.
3) Lean back and invest in yourself and other relationships. Do things that feel good. Trust yourself. Value yourself. Know your worth. Laugh. Have fun.
4) Allow him to do the work to woo you and learn how to make you happy and feeling good. Know that he needs space to form attraction and desire for you. Know that space is essential for reflection and growth. Give him both boundaries and freedom. Do not promise him anything. Your loyalty must be earned and must always be earned. Do not contract yourself to him but allow him to earn you for as long as you want him in your life.

The message I see is: if he doesn't seem very invested, don't give him a ton more than he's giving you, or he'll write you off. I've never heard who this Mathew Hussey is but everything he says is right. You have to see excuses immediately. It's really simple. If a guy or girl likes you, he'll text all the time. If he or she is not into you, he won't text. Simple. No excuses.
That's not 100% right, but if they are into you they'll make a *proactive* effort to explain why they are/will be largely incommunicado - "I'm being deployed" "I'll be on stage at the conference" "Microsoft screwed up my PC again" :) The last one happened to me recently, so I installed Whatsapp to be able to keep sending/receiving texts to my lovely gf.

But it's cool....this guy claimed to be Interesteda few months ago...he went from calling and texting everyday....to texting only "good morning" once a week....nothing more. He would contact me to make plans and then disappear for almost 2 weeks! Then pop back up with a normal "Hello there"...no explanation or apology...I had enough and told him I was tired of his empty promises and my time is better spent with people who knew what they want. Obviously he didn't. I asked him not to contact me anymore. He simply replied "Ok if that's how you feel"....and that was that. It’s simple in my eyes. If you feel someone is stringing you along, just stop all interaction whether it be cold turkey or slowly drips away to nothing. It’s not hard when you love yourself and put yourself first. Don’t pursue, don’t push conversation and let him drift away. Make room for someone who is not a stringer. Life is too short and time is too precious to even think of entertaining something or someone who’s not serving you! Self love, self care, first. The rest will be so free and easy when you let go and watch the natural way life unfolds.

If he doesn't take it it really means he's not interested enough - no guy who likes you would risk losing you in such a silly matter. Besides double texting will make you seem desperate and that's not attractive to anyone. He needs to invest his part in the relationship. The question is why do you still want to be with a guy who doesn't care about you or not put any effort? Because he's a "nice guy"? Really? I cut all of this by giving them my number and saying "Call me! The old fashioned way." I do not accept texts anymore. If a 23 years old has the balls to pick up the phone and ask me out, then why shouldn't a 35 years old being able to do it? You wanna see me? Call me! I want to hear the voice and excitement in it. Oh and no FB exchange anymore. Such an easy way to see all the information you seek and make your conclusions. Simple answer: Every person has a ton of things they're attracted to. Some people are conscious of all the things, some people aren't--but most people are somewhere in between. So, there's a few possibilities here:
1) He realized you meet core needs he has in an intimate partner, and he finds you some level of attractive physically, but definitely very attractive on a much deeper level.
2) He's coping with feelings that tell him there's never going to be a gal who meets his "high ideals"--in which case, he's not being real with himself and what he needs be doing in order to meet the right gal for him.
3) He's being a horny jerk and letting his hormones over-run his regard for you (he's not likely to stay long, if at all, should this be the case).
4) He could have been gauging whether or not you were right for him, or whether or not you could possibly have been into him, and he's just now got the courage to through it all to the wind and try (basically, he may have thought you're out of his league, but then rethought the situation and decided life's too short).
I could probably keep adding to this list, but I'm not going to. Instead, I'm going to simply tell you to make him make all the moves--but let him know you're open to the idea (basically, just ask him when he'll actually have the balls to just ask you out)--and challenge you to make sure you do NOT get into a physical relationship with this guy until you're SURE he's planning to stick around.
I've had friends I didn't give a second thought to as a potential life mate, only to discover they had a whole side to them I'd never really seen. Trust me, I wanted to travel back in time and begin a relationship from the point at which I'd met them--to try and make up for lost time. It's possible, as are many things.
