I think Discord's exchange with Fluttershy was meant to demonstrate how Discord enjoys messing with their heads and he could have altered any of their outlooks with literally the touch of a finger. He just liked manipulating them and got frustrated when it didn't work on her. If anything this shows that her kindness is STRONG instead of weak.
I think you missed the point of the Discord and Fluttershy scene. Fluttershy, in short, is incorruptible. She was the only one no to fall for Discord's taunts, the only one he couldn't hypnotize in his usual fashion. She is meek, quiet, gentle, caring, basically kindness personified, and thus in a way above acts of evil and darkness. Discord proved in previous scenes that he enjoyed toying with his opponents, and the fact that he couldn't do that with Fluttershy probably burns him something fierce, prompting him to cheat at his own game and use more powerful magic to force a brainwash, rather than break her, as she couldn't BE broken. Kindness IS stronger than discord…until discord finds a way to cheat, at least
Also, this is a hint to her being different from the others. Like sassy shy, fluttersavage and Stare master. But also bringing in the beginingings of there relation ship. He can't break her , so he takes intrest in her. Just like his intrest in twilight because of her power.
He's discord of course he's going to cheat he said it himself he's the spirit of chaos and he just didn't use his magic to the fullest I mean come on we saw him do incredible things with his magic if he used it like that he might have actually won.
Actually, I think the message is that Kindness BEATS chaos unless brute force is applied. Talking to fluttershy didn't work. She's too nice. Discord did the equivalent of punching her in the face during a debate to get his way. Discord is very powerful, but by following the rules, he lost and had to cheat (Which is totally in line with chaos, but brings me back to the whole brute force thing)

It also shows that discord doesn't know how to handle someone like Fluttershy and that he realized, that she wasn't as easily to corrupt as the others.

The sound effect used in his beginning, and when the pony's are corrupted, I don't know it makes me shiver a bit and i love that, it just kind of adds to it.

I personally thought, as a casual gamer who find walkthrough and cheatcodes when games get too hard, that Discord's reaction was hilarious. He basically ragequitted and just cheat his way through a "level" that was too difficult for his taste... Now, because of that, I imagine Discord as the same kind of gamer that I am... XD
Personally, I always saw Discord's "quick fix" of Fluttershy as evidence that she's one of the strongest of the mane six, despite her timid appearance. The strength of her compassion allows her to resist Discord's attempts to manipulate her, so he's forced to use direct chaos magic. This strength of character might also explain her relationship with him later in the series. My bigger issue is with his manipulation of Rainbow Dash. When she rushes off to save Cloudsdale, isn't she still showing loyalty? Of course, she still would cause her friends to lose the game by leaving, but her personality and powers shouldn't change - she hasn't rejected her element, just pointed it at another set of friends. Now that's off my chest, back to working my way through this playlist...

She saw Discord corrupting the bearers from the castle through Luna's telescope, and came to the conclusion that there was a chance Twilight would lose faith in her friends as a result. Celestia didn't want Discord to know what close tabs she was keeping on the proceedings, so she couldn't interfere directly...so she waited until Spike was alone - magic monitoring the baby dragon living amongst ponies as a matter of national security - and then started sending them. Or she saw Twilight go grey from wherever and started sending them then.
Also, they did NOT expect to actually get John de Lancie HIMSELF to voice the character - they expected they'd just have to found a soundalike substitute. But some member of the crew just so HAPPENED to suggest they seek out the real deal, and de Lancie just so HAPPENED to have a free space in his schedule to voice the character... and the rest is history. Well, OK, it does still remain interesting after that; Mr. de Lancie actually forgot about this role at first, since at the time it was just another job in his busy time, so he was floored when he saw fans sending him tweets and the like about his role as Discord. In time, he became a brony himself (if more lowkey about his own appreciation), and he even compared Lauren Faust to Gene Roddenberry - in that they both garnered such loyal followings and the like. Given Faust was the one who created the Discord character as a tribute to Q himself, I'd say she was flattered by the complement too.

I completely disagree with your rant about Fluttershy's corruption. With all of the other ponies, Discord was able to manipulate them until he could corrupt their elements himself. But Fluttershy was grounded enough to resist the manipulation. She recognised her flaws, knows how her friends view her, and is stronger than the others because of it. So Discord used his magic directly. To me, that doesn't say that Fluttershy is weaker. It says that Discord likes to mess with people, but doesn't need to in order to flip the elements
two counters to Discord's actions and why they work: Discord could have done the same thing to the other four that he did to Flutters, but he's a trickster. And regarding Rainbow Dash, it was an impossible choice. Rainbow has two homes: Ponyville and Cloudsdale. No matter which she chose to "save", the other would crumble. Plus, she was already brainwashed.
I think the thing with Fluttershy is not what you mean. In her case, kindness was to strong in Fluttershy. Discord was forced to cheat and use his magic directly to corrupt her. All other succumbed by their own, only Fluttershy managed to resist causing Discord to act directly (to cheat).
How the elements of harmony were corrupted Honesty- Sometimes the truth hurts, so its easy to tell a lie rather than accept the truth. Laughter-People can Laugh at you for a simple mistake you made. Generosity-can easily become greed when gone unchecked, people can become greedy very easily if they don’t rein in their behavior. People can pray on the generosity of others for their own selfish gain. Kindness-it’s easy to take advantage of someone’s kindness, but a true kind person will still be kind no matter what happens. Duuuude....the fact that Discord couldn't push Fluttershy to corrupt herself makes sense. That's exactly why Celestia chose her to reform him. She was the only one who couldn't fall to his mental tricks, and could only be discorded when Discord directly attacked her.

Nah that sounds about right, especially given that dragons are boy coded and ponies are girl coded (just saying coded unironically makes me want to barf), loyalty is a virtue more instilled in boys from socialization generally.

I actually really like that discord had to touch fluttershy to change her. It is foreshadowing for her changing him in later seasons and it shows how easy it is for the world to change kind into cruelty
Something I realized while watching this review is that Discord actually relied either on the Mane six's element to corrupt them or some aspect of their personalities that directly counteract their element Rarity is a very materialistic Pony and can be greedy she will free give what she has to others but she'll also take every opportunity to increase her own wealth for social standing Pinkie Pie doesn't like malicious laughter for obvious reasons a problem I've seen pointed out quite a bit actually about Rainbow Dash's character is that she can end up trying to be loyal to too many ponies at once and when you're loyal to everybody you're loyal to nobody Applejack is good-natured and stubborn which can lead her to lying to others and herself and with this context I kind of agree that the whole disk or not being able to find a flaw in Fluttershy thing is a bit annoying additionally I have a theory about how Celestia new to send Twilight the Scrolls Discord it seems like the type of character who would gloat about his actions maybe he went to Celestia and and told her that he'd managed to corrupt the elements of Harmony

Discord could've just magically touched each of them to change them, but he just wanted to be manipulative. Flutters was too strong for him to break her, so he had to physically touch her and mix her mind up. I don't even know where you got your theory from. The scene showed Flutters' strength and Discord's power. This kinda leads up to Keep Calm and Flutter On.

I found a small flaw in Discord's magic of making Applejack lie. When Twilight asks who she was talking to, AJ says "Nopony", and that actually is true. Those apples and even Discord are not ponies. Girl just can't help herself, can she? LOL.

it did, do you think they kept the >1000 year old flag after they took power. This is honestly really simple. Ponies flee wendigos, discord takes over. celestia/luna arrive defeating discord. Sombra forms the crystal empire and is banished, tirek and scorpan invade and are defeated/befriended, celestia banishes luna.
At first, I agreed with your opinion on Discord's exchange with Fluttershy. I thought it wasn't funny at all, and there definitely could have been some interesting developments to her character. However, as someone watching much later, I realized how interesting it was after watching "Keep Calm and Flutter On". I feel like it's a testament to Fluttershy's character that although she cannot easily stand up to grouchy salesponies and awful griffins, she is arguably the only member of the mane six who really frustrated Discord, and the only one who has never succumbed to his manipulation. Yes, you could say that Twilight usually pulls through, but Fluttershy never even succumbs. I think that Fluttershy being the only one who isn't manipulated demonstrates just how well she embodies her element. Another thing that this episode made me realize was how some characters in the mane 5 (I won't include Twilight because, especially in two parters, she tends to be in a league of her own) needed pressure, intimidation, or outright magic to succumb to manipulation, and some fell much easier. Fluttershy was the strongest of all of them, embodying her element to its fullest. Then Pinkie. I know some might disagree, but what Pinkie went through was traumatizing. It also fits well with her character, as although she sometimes accidentally hurts people's feelings, most of her humor is just fun and games. Then the list starts to get trickier. Rainbow, although she eventually ruins the whole thing, is demonstrating loyalty when she gives in. It may not be loyalty to her friends, but it is loyalty to possible relatives, other friends, and her homeland. She is maybe betraying 5 ponies, but she is saving way more. What she did was noble and loyal and I can't bash her for how easily she gave in. She displays the difficulty and choices that came with her element, and she embodies her element well (in this episode. In other episodes, that is not nearly as true.) Then, Applejack. Although manipulation is evident, I felt disappointed at how easily she succumbed. Honestly, for Celestia's sake Applejack, you're the element of honesty. You didn't see how it was blatant manipulation? Come on, a four-year-old is probably smarter than that. Also, I was annoyed by Applejack's reaction to Discord's "truth hurts" speech. I know that many people would agree with me when I say that a lie is like a band-aid on a serious wound. It may patch things up temporarily, but in the long term, a lie only hurts more. Because of that, Applejack really disappointed me. She usually embodies her element well, but in this episode, she really didn't stack up against the others. Finally, the pony who was worst against Discord was Rarity. Rarity was horrible against Discord. What bothered me was that the others didn't need their respective talents in order to be manipulated. Fluttershy would have responded just as kindly if Discord wasn't pretending to be butterflies. Pinkie would have been just as humiliated and scared if the balloons were, I don't know, let's say giant turtles. Applejack would have been just as easily manipulated if the "spirits of the orchard" were ponies. Rainbow wasn't even manipulated by her talent. Sure, Cloudsdale is home of the wonderbolts, but the wonderbolts barely registered in her mind. It was her hometown being destroyed that convinced her. Rarity, however, wouldn't have done it for anything but that diamond, which I think says a lot about her. Discord barely did anything to convince her to succumb to that diamond. He provided the framework, and she took the bait. Bait she would have taken anyway if not for it being a life or death situation. Honestly, Rarity probably would have spent hourse digging for that diamond if she just happened to find it. Actually, she probably would have made someone do it for her, someone like Spike. And it is the fact that Rarity was so easily manipulated that makes me think she is the worst at embodying her element. Sorry for such a ridiculously long comment. If you have time, let me know your thoughts!
Oh, and one more thing I forgot about: I think Celestia had a premonition that the only way they could defeat Discord was to let them do exactly what they did, then send Twilight the letters and let her be the one to fix everything. I think the "Celestia had premonitions" thing could be used to explain a lot of things that seemed unexplainable or stupid.

To be honest with the part about Spike getting the element of loyalty, I think it suits him more than it does Rainbow Dash. Spike has basically been a servant to Twilight for his entire life, and Rainbow constantly is abandoning her friends for her own selfish goals.
I think I've finally figured out what was up with Rainbowdash's corruption. Discord's rhyme had a double meaning. Cloudsdale seems to be the main homeland for all Pegusi. The "foundation" of their veery race. But her actual "home" was with his friends in Ponyville and the "foundation" Discord was actually talking about was the friendship she shared with her friends. RD got distracted by the vision and misunderstood the actual message of the rhyme.

I think the thing with Fluttershy is not what you mean. In her case, kindness was to strong in Fluttershy. Discord was forced to cheat and use his magic directly to corrupt her. All other succumbed by their own, only Fluttershy managed to resist causing Discord to act directly (to cheat).

Honesty- Sometimes the truth hurts, so its easy to tell a lie rather than accept the truth.
Laughter-People can Laugh at you for a simple mistake you made.
Generosity-can easily become greed when gone unchecked, people can become greedy very easily if they don’t rein in their behavior. People can pray on the generosity of others for their own selfish gain.
Kindness-it’s easy to take advantage of someone’s kindness, but a true kind person will still be kind no matter what happens.

Something I realized while watching this review is that Discord actually relied either on the Mane six's element to corrupt them or some aspect of their personalities that directly counteract their element Rarity is a very materialistic Pony and can be greedy she will free give what she has to others but she'll also take every opportunity to increase her own wealth for social standing Pinkie Pie doesn't like malicious laughter for obvious reasons a problem I've seen pointed out quite a bit actually about Rainbow Dash's character is that she can end up trying to be loyal to too many ponies at once and when you're loyal to everybody you're loyal to nobody Applejack is good-natured and stubborn which can lead her to lying to others and herself and with this context I kind of agree that the whole disk or not being able to find a flaw in Fluttershy thing is a bit annoying additionally I have a theory about how Celestia new to send Twilight the Scrolls Discord it seems like the type of character who would gloat about his actions maybe he went to Celestia and and told her that he'd managed to corrupt the elements of Harmony

Discord could've just magically touched each of them to change them, but he just wanted to be manipulative. Flutters was too strong for him to break her, so he had to physically touch her and mix her mind up. I don't even know where you got your theory from. The scene showed Flutters' strength and Discord's power. This kinda leads up to Keep Calm and Flutter On.

I found a small flaw in Discord's magic of making Applejack lie. When Twilight asks who she was talking to, AJ says "Nopony", and that actually is true. Those apples and even Discord are not ponies. Girl just can't help herself, can she? LOL.

I remember thinking the same thing the first time I saw this episode. If it wasn’t for that flag, I would have assumed that the events of Heartswarming Eve took place before either Celestia, Luna, or Discord were in power.
And for that matter, where do Terek and Sombra fit in this timeline?
it did, do you think they kept the >1000 year old flag after they took power. This is honestly really simple. Ponies flee wendigos, discord takes over. celestia/luna arrive defeating discord. Sombra forms the crystal empire and is banished, tirek and scorpan invade and are defeated/befriended, celestia banishes luna.
At first, I agreed with your opinion on Discord's exchange with Fluttershy. I thought it wasn't funny at all, and there definitely could have been some interesting developments to her character. However, as someone watching much later, I realized how interesting it was after watching "Keep Calm and Flutter On". I feel like it's a testament to Fluttershy's character that although she cannot easily stand up to grouchy salesponies and awful griffins, she is arguably the only member of the mane six who really frustrated Discord, and the only one who has never succumbed to his manipulation. Yes, you could say that Twilight usually pulls through, but Fluttershy never even succumbs. I think that Fluttershy being the only one who isn't manipulated demonstrates just how well she embodies her element.
Another thing that this episode made me realize was how some characters in the mane 5 (I won't include Twilight because, especially in two parters, she tends to be in a league of her own) needed pressure, intimidation, or outright magic to succumb to manipulation, and some fell much easier. Fluttershy was the strongest of all of them, embodying her element to its fullest. Then Pinkie. I know some might disagree, but what Pinkie went through was traumatizing. It also fits well with her character, as although she sometimes accidentally hurts people's feelings, most of her humor is just fun and games. Then the list starts to get trickier. Rainbow, although she eventually ruins the whole thing, is demonstrating loyalty when she gives in. It may not be loyalty to her friends, but it is loyalty to possible relatives, other friends, and her homeland. She is maybe betraying 5 ponies, but she is saving way more. What she did was noble and loyal and I can't bash her for how easily she gave in. She displays the difficulty and choices that came with her element, and she embodies her element well (in this episode. In other episodes, that is not nearly as true.) Then, Applejack. Although manipulation is evident, I felt disappointed at how easily she succumbed. Honestly, for Celestia's sake Applejack, you're the element of honesty. You didn't see how it was blatant manipulation? Come on, a four-year-old is probably smarter than that. Also, I was annoyed by Applejack's reaction to Discord's "truth hurts" speech. I know that many people would agree with me when I say that a lie is like a band-aid on a serious wound. It may patch things up temporarily, but in the long term, a lie only hurts more. Because of that, Applejack really disappointed me. She usually embodies her element well, but in this episode, she really didn't stack up against the others. Finally, the pony who was worst against Discord was Rarity. Rarity was horrible against Discord. What bothered me was that the others didn't need their respective talents in order to be manipulated. Fluttershy would have responded just as kindly if Discord wasn't pretending to be butterflies. Pinkie would have been just as humiliated and scared if the balloons were, I don't know, let's say giant turtles. Applejack would have been just as easily manipulated if the "spirits of the orchard" were ponies. Rainbow wasn't even manipulated by her talent. Sure, Cloudsdale is home of the wonderbolts, but the wonderbolts barely registered in her mind. It was her hometown being destroyed that convinced her. Rarity, however, wouldn't have done it for anything but that diamond, which I think says a lot about her. Discord barely did anything to convince her to succumb to that diamond. He provided the framework, and she took the bait. Bait she would have taken anyway if not for it being a life or death situation. Honestly, Rarity probably would have spent hourse digging for that diamond if she just happened to find it. Actually, she probably would have made someone do it for her, someone like Spike. And it is the fact that Rarity was so easily manipulated that makes me think she is the worst at embodying her element.

Oh, and one more thing I forgot about: I think Celestia had a premonition that the only way they could defeat Discord was to let them do exactly what they did, then send Twilight the letters and let her be the one to fix everything. I think the "Celestia had premonitions" thing could be used to explain a lot of things that seemed unexplainable or stupid.
Discord came in after they had united,which would explain all three ponies in that stained glass window.If they were still going different ways,their would be 3 different windows.
I laughed hard when you stuck the Yoshi's Story boss music in, and laughed even harder when you played Tay's Chocolate Rain at the same time I started singing it.

To be honest with the part about Spike getting the element of loyalty, I think it suits him more than it does Rainbow Dash. Spike has basically been a servant to Twilight for his entire life, and Rainbow constantly is abandoning her friends for her own selfish goals.
I think I've finally figured out what was up with Rainbowdash's corruption. Discord's rhyme had a double meaning. Cloudsdale seems to be the main homeland for all Pegusi. The "foundation" of their veery race. But her actual "home" was with his friends in Ponyville and the "foundation" Discord was actually talking about was the friendship she shared with her friends. RD got distracted by the vision and misunderstood the actual message of the rhyme.

Discord is Kefka in so many ways. The theme, personality and love for chaos are all very similar.
