I loved this finale. And the fact that you're theory of Chrysalis being motivated by power instead of necessity being proven true was just icing on the cake. Mm mm.... Cake 😋
well of course, otherwise she wouldn't be a full on villain, she'd be redeemable (unlike starlight and discord who....kinda had really contrived reasons for turning good, starlight more so as discord is still and asshat even reformed and they at least tried to give credende to him reforming)
And she would have turned into the fairy dear things. I honestly think they are alright in design, but dear god Thorax hurt my eyes. I can only imagine how Chrissy would end up.
+Raul Valencia I'm surprised Josh didn't mention those designs at all... neither a "GOD those are awful" or a "I actually thought they were fine" direction, just... nothing on the subject.
+Pelcogo Some fanfic changelings I've read about seem to try fitting this in, while others simply ignore the whole thing. As far as "self-representation" OCs go however? Not a clue. They'll probably just use the "we're still shapeshifters, right?" excuse for staying the same.
Considering this show is about Friendship, I feel like reformed villains should be a given. Hell, I bet there'll be an episode in the future revolving around Tirek and Scorpan reconnecting with Tirek slowly reforming.
I began watching MLP out of curiosity, I watched this episode, decided to watch this video, resubbed, and kept thinking about how this episode is riddled with plot holes like swiss cheese, which I guess in this case would also be spraypainted black...or green
9:59 By planning and patience? For all you know, Changelings could have been all around the place without you seeing them. Waiting for the right time to strike. The kidnappings may have been in one night, but it never said the planning was. For example, notice how they waited for Starlight to leave before replacing them?
16:58 NOOOOOOOOOOO! Dude, Josh, that was a complete missed opportunity to have used "Give Me All Your Love" from The World Ends with you. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN PERFECT!
Loved this review as usual. One thing I think should be said though is that I think the part where Discord gets captured isn't him being stupid by falling for a trick immediately after not falling for it. He catches himself from falling for the initial trap, and moments later he finds he's surrounded by fake Fluttershys. His reaction makes the most sense interpreted one of two ways in my opinion: Either he's concerned at the possibility that they do have the real Fluttershy there as the changeling hinted, which could have been possible given how smart the Changelings can be and that they obviously knew Discord cared for her. But more likely I personally think his face after seeing the horde of clones was more of an "oh crap, I'm screwed" moment. Whether he believes that the real Fluttershy was there or not, the moment all the Fluttershy clones started up he was surrounded by enemies with flight and magic while he had neither. So whether he fell for the trick or not, he was basically done as soon as he went into the room and there was nothing he could do about it as he was outnumbered and outclassed.
You always do such a great job at making me laugh with your reviews! I'd love to see more but I also know your pretty busy and I understand. I hope to see more!
15:28 Well seeing so many copies of 'the one pony he cares the most about' crying and in pain will put him in a moment of weakness. Like with Hughes and Envy in FMA Brotherhood. (Yea yea SPOILERS) As Envy was gonna kill him disguised as another soldier, Hughes called him out on his shape shifting. He knew it was a trick. And when he goes to strike him with a knife, Envy turns into his wife. Despite knowing it's a trick, that it isn't really his wife, Hughes couldn't bring himself to stab his 'her'. To see 'her' in pain or anything like that. It's the same thing with Discord. He doesn't want to see her upset or in pain, because even though it isn't really her, her face will be enough to haunt him.
Ok, where do I begin? That intro was fantastic, the Arlo cameo was a really pleasant surprise, the whole "Not as Much of a Jerk as You Could of Been Award", *lists off most of the review*.... Overall, I loved this video, as well as the original episode. Really well done. Great job! :D

Josh, this video says it isn't available in my country, which is Canada. Mind looking into that? I just want to see your video that you worked so hard to make.
First off, somepony oughta say it here. "Of course, Princess Celestia; I'd love to perform for peanut butter crackers." Second; out of all the analysts/reviewers, you're the first I've seen yet to not mention/nag about the changelings' new looks. A look that I, honestly really love
Phil's Eyelash The only way would be for him to file a dispute on the monetization claims. Though given that he intentionally used other individuals' intellectual property, he would have to rely on them not responding within the 30 day period for it to work.
This was a good review. Completely with you on the whole 'letting bug queen go' thing being a real head scratchier. Also, you referenced Fire Marshal Bill - you are awesome.
Sunset can't be better than starlight and starlight can't be better than sunset because they are the same, it's been over a year when is the starlight hate gonna die, I have nothing against you but I hate the fact people can't just let it go
Night Silver Chelly they're both reformed villains they're both as powerful if not more powerful then twilight they've both now gone through a character arc that led them to save the day all I'm saying don't hate on starlight if you love sunset
Nathan Jarrett True But I hate the idea of thinking that they are the same since their situation are slightly different. I mean I like them both but it feels wrong to call them the same.
Night Silver Chelly I know, maybe not exactly the same just similar, I just don't like how most of the fandom treats Sunset like a saint but then hate on starlight
Nathan Jarrett Yeah I can understand that feeling. Admittedly I wasn't happy with Starlight's character since the season 5 final fell really flat and her being redeem was rush horribly.
Awesome work as always, Josh. I agree with you on most counts, and the placement of every reference was spot on. Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to more content from you.
To be more specific, I'm referring to Starlight offering a hand of acceptance and Queen Chrysalis refusing being similar to Simba: Let it go, Zira. It's time to put the past behind us. Zira: I'LL NEVER LET IT GO!
This was fun to watch! The intro was nicely done too. You have a pretty good narrator voice. Thanks for sharing this with us! ^_^ I wonder why the reformed quartet didn't get a stained glass window of their own. Rescuing the major figures of Equestria and making peace with the changelings is a pretty big deal. I think the changelings could have tried hypnotizing the royal sisters like what happened with Shining Armor. Then they'd have control over the sun, the moon, and the princesses. They also could have placed disguised changeling guards near the princesses to gather love energy. I'm guessing that arresting the former queen right in front of the just-reformed changelings might have soured the mood. Maybe they wanted the remaining rogue changelings to reform without feeling threatened by the prospect of prison. I'm surprised none of the changeling guards noticed four strangers approaching their hive. They weren't even wearing camouflage. The security does seem to get slightly better as they go deeper into the hive, however. Also, do the ponies not have any magical "video chat" systems like the changelings apparently do? That looks super useful.
I had a theory that chrysalis would go break Tirek out of Tartarus bc Cerberus is easily distracted. Also they both suck up magic be it love of pure magic. Any thoughts?
Yeah, that becomes an issue of not IF one of them will turn on the other, but who tries it first. They'd be to busy watching out for the other one backstabbing them to really do much else.
I think this is one of your best reviews ever. I was laughing so often at it and just was entertaining. Part of that may be that the episode itself is solid as well, but seriously, this is one of my favorites.
How Chrysalis managed to do that in one night? Well, I can think of a few things. One; she has a shape-shifting army, and two; she is a tactical genius, and probably spent a lot of time planning this. But then again, that baffled me too.
Also, do we know for certain it was only one night? When the Mane 6 went to Our Town for the first time, they took a train, at least for part of the journey. Trixie and Starlight travelled on hoof, so they must have been slower. That all being said, I find the idea of the plan being pulled off so quickly plausible because I think that's the only way a plan like this could work. A sudden, simultaneous attack; momentum would be key, I think.
I still say that Chryssalid managing to capture and replace all leader figures (Most likely discreetly) in a few hours is full on bullshit. That's like if Hitler took control of all of Europe in 2 days! The Changelings are fucking horses with holes in them, not The Combine! Wait, did I say Chryssalid?
Everything about this video was great! I loved all the jokes/movie references. This is my favorite video from your channel so far. I can't wait to see more!
If there`s one thing I learned throughout this series is that you should never do anything bad to Fluttershy, or you`ll be in your worst nightmare, thanks to Discord. The Changeling Queen is probably the best strategist, second to Master Xehanort, but if they could made this season finale into 3 parts (part 1 for her invasion, part 2 for the expedition of the "SubCharacter Squad" and part 3 for the climatic ending), showing how she made this plan without anyone notice, I believe this could have a greater episode.
Whelp this comments probably gonna be deleted anyway, so might as well have some fun with it. 0:01, I'm frankly amazed more people haven't made Lord of the Rings jokes or references relating to this. 3:18, huh nice to finally get a solid opinion from you on the Equestria girls movies. It's short but I'll take it. 3:26, someone's been playing Overwatch. 3:50 Josh your Fanboy is showing. 5:40, Yeah I got nothing that was funny. 5:54, Okay it was funny the first time, second time it was Hilarious, Good on you 6:39, eh she kind of had justification for the panic attack this time. 7:10, huh now there's an avatar reference I never thought I'd see, and yet it fits perfectly....I'm sensing a new meme. 9:23, maybe I missed it but I feel like that's the first time you used that joke. 10:07, well they did manage to surprise Cadence on her wedding and fool everyone. Odds are they've probably been planning this since they were defeated. It's not that hard to explain. 10:31 I'm sensing a running joke here. I mean are you gonna review any season 6 episodes or....? 11:35, does thorax count as a reformed villain since he was never evil to begin with? He just followed the crowd. 12:52 Solid Burn Mr. Burner. Well played 14:12, Yeah I don't have a clue what that is. 15:25, He has no magic to escape with and he's distracted by seeing dozens of the person he care most for crying and seemingly in pain, that would hinder anyone, knowing it's fake or not. 15:48, Honestly I was thinking more along the lines to Ridley Scott. 16:12, Yes you did, have a cookie. 17:38, how is she even a threat. Like you said, no followers, no place to live she's hardly dangerous. 19:05, Trixie as Harley and Starlight as Katana, huh honestly amazed Starlight isn't Deadshot, and you're El Diablo, should of seen that coming. Though does that make Thorax Killer Croc or Captain Boomerang?
You're right about Thorax not actually being a reformed villain at all though Trixie was only really a minor antagonist like Flim and Flam so there were only really two reformed villains in that group. Thorax I think was only made into his own character in the episode The Times They are a Changeling for a metaphorical analogue of discrimination against groups of people and how they can affect an individual in that group even if there's only a tangent between that person and the perception of the group as a whole.
+Jacob Cordell plus the one time trixie was a full on villain she was under the thrall of an evil, insanity inducing artifact, so yeah she barely counts as a villain
"does thorax count as a reformed villain since he was never evil to begin with? He just followed the crowd." I agree. "how is she even a threat. Like you said, no followers, no place to live she's hardly dangerous." Amongst a crowd (some of which have high levels of magic) yes, but she is _still_ technically an Alicorn, so she is still a threat to some degree.
Great job with the review, Commander Firebrand. I have to agree with the "B+" rating you gave as your final score as there was several unanswered questions and plot holes the finale left behind that I'm sure will be answered and resolved in the Season 7 premiere. Not to mention making sure that the Royal Family and Mane Six get more screen time and dialogue in the Season 7 premiere to make up for the lack of it they got here, especially considering what little screen time Celestia got here, along with what little dialogue Nicole Oliver recorded for her here as well.
Also, is it just me or are Changelings terrible actors, from Chrysalis doing a piss poor job at acting not suspicious to all of them imposing the Ponyville Ponies
15:29: he might've thought that the changelings put the real fluttershy there among them to tempt him. i mean, it's not likely, but also not impossible. plus, how do we know that he didn't take so long in the decision, (or maybe he really pulled himself back to his senses) that they decided to jump him?
Discord didn't fall for it. He was out numbered, with no magic, and faced with many images of the one pony he gives a flying horsefeather about in distress and other expressions. That is both physical and mental overtaking. And that is why Discord got caught, not because he was tricked.

Ditto I caught that too.
Arexion5293, I think there is a stain on the lens.
same here
I loved the "when pigs fly!" Moment at the end. I mean it's Discord. Trixie should've known she was setting herself up xD
Is that Vageta's voice in Twilight's internal screaming?
...
I can't think of a more appropriate representation of her feelings XD
PhazonOmega It sounded like scout's death scream to me.
I thought it might've been Josh.
Knew there'd be Hobbit references. :D
Best opening 2 minutes ever.
Josh, the reason why Chrysalis got away was so she could meet Fluffle Puff remember?
Thank God Chrysalis escaped, this show is oversaturated with reformed villains already.
And she would have turned into the fairy dear things. I honestly think they are alright in design, but dear god Thorax hurt my eyes. I can only imagine how Chrissy would end up.
I wonder what's gonna happen to the bronies who have changeling OC's
I hope you never stop making these reviews. This was the highlight of my day.
I loved that intro, it was so well made!
Giovanni Orellana Yeah, it was great
Giovanni Orellana yeah it reminded of when I would watch the Lord of the Rings series.
Jefferson Callahan yeah when they came out years ago in theaters...yes I feel old. I even saw the animated movies
But that outro was a... "change" of pace... :D
Ehm... no, don't need that info, never do...
Don't do dat.
"FLUTTERCORD SHIPPERS! COME TO ME!!" (an army comes screaming)
"I request the Cone of Silence." I died laughing right there.
Ok, plot twist: the one who was doing the reviews this whole time, was a changeling, and the one who just came in is the real josh
I don't even watch/care for the show but I LOVE the humor and editing that you put into these! Also, excellent references 10/10
cbb88dragonborn I used to watch the show but I still love these
I began watching MLP out of curiosity, I watched this episode, decided to watch this video, resubbed, and kept thinking about how this episode is riddled with plot holes like swiss cheese, which I guess in this case would also be spraypainted black...or green
I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! !!! =D
cbb88christian
OMG same!
9:59
By planning and patience?
THE OPENING OF THE VIDEO IS LIKE THE HOBBIT.
THIS PLEASES ME.
15:28
Well seeing so many copies of 'the one pony he cares the most about' crying and in pain will put him in a moment of weakness.
Like with Hughes and Envy in FMA Brotherhood.
(Yea yea SPOILERS)
As Envy was gonna kill him disguised as another soldier, Hughes called him out on his shape shifting.
One second in and I'm already fanboying. LOVE Lord of the Rings/Hobbit! Let's see where this goes....
Ok, where do I begin? That intro was fantastic, the Arlo cameo was a really pleasant surprise, the whole "Not as Much of a Jerk as You Could of Been Award", *lists off most of the review*....
Overall, I loved this video, as well as the original episode. Really well done. Great job! :D
It's 10 seconds in, and I've already dropped a like on the video.
18:36 I KNEW I shouldda taken that left turn at Uranus! Was it somethin' I said?!? What could POssibly go WRONG?!?
Thank you, Bubsy.
My theory: the Bubsy who said that line was also the wooly that took Bubsy home at the end of the first.
Hah! When he played that bit from Lion King 2's villain song that's exactly what I thought of the place when I first saw it. xD
2:24 - Random camera reflection while on Josh?
3:07 - Did you . . . did you just got there?
4:03 - Just because we want to help people doesn't mean we still want to hurt ourselves.
8:10 - Take a shot every time Josh uses a meme
8:42 - Do you have the camera behind a pane of glass or something?
10:00 - Well, they did capture Cadence right out from her husband-to-be's dong, so . . .
10:09 - probably, probably like me, blow it the first time and nail it the second time
10:22 - *uncontrollable giggling*
11:50 - . . . nah, *pats*
12:27 - Thank you, writers!
12:42 - *slurred speech*
13:57 - *slide-of-hoof
14:25 - . . . *no comment*
15:17 - d'aww
16:05 - My best friend (passive anti-brony/Star Wars nerd) would be so dissapointed in you
17:02 - This deserves at least three shots . . . fuck
18:42 - I'm still jealous about that. *Symphony of the Goddess* came nearby *ONCE*.
Loved the video, looks like you had a lot of fun making it. I certainly enjoyed watching it. Glad to see you're doing well (good luck with university finals!).
15:55 I always appreciate a good Paper Mario reference! It always cheers me up when I see those in your videos
I love how Trixie is "reformed" but she's still her boastful self.
Nailed it! Good to see you again Josh!!!
3:26 She who holds the information, holds all the cards.
This was awesome from start to finish. You just made my day!
Josh, this video says it isn't available in my country, which is Canada. Mind looking into that? I just want to see your video that you worked so hard to make.
TheWolfmanHulk Yup, unavailable in Canada. That sucks.
it is now
I'm in Canada and it's working fine for me.
Having the same problem.
same problem here
A new joshscorcher review? You have my attention
First off, somepony oughta say it here. "Of course, Princess Celestia; I'd love to perform for peanut butter crackers."
Second; out of all the analysts/reviewers, you're the first I've seen yet to not mention/nag about the changelings' new looks.
A look that I, honestly really love
I don't know how you do it, but every video just gets better in jokes, quality, and overall presentation. Well done!
12:23 FLUTTERCORD CONFIRMED!
12:35 LION KING 2 - SIMBA'S PRIDE!
Loved that movie!
Kirri Price
Same ^w^!!! I almost had a nostalgia-induced heart attack when that part played ♡w♡!!
>w
EvilVampireLeprechaunDemon
Honestly, LK2 was/is better than LK1!
15:21 discord didn't "fall for it" with all those changelings they could have easily overpowered Discord since he has no magic and knock him out
Missed joke:
Starlight: Give her all of it!
Me: Insert Rings Of Akhatan reference here.
wow, great review. i lost it to the "life day" referance.my daughter and i really enjoyed. thank you for making this.
Am surprised you use so much licensed music. Do the DMCA bots not strike down your vids?
They prevent monetization, but it's worth it for entertainment.
joshscorcher if monetization gets taken down do you get it back? Ever? Just don't want you living in a box eating dog food bro.
Pity we can't do anything about the youtube bots.
That's what his Patreon's for.
Phil's Eyelash The only way would be for him to file a dispute on the monetization claims. Though given that he intentionally used other individuals' intellectual property, he would have to rely on them not responding within the 30 day period for it to work.
This is great! Marvelous! I love that all of my favorite reviewers are becoming better and doing more for themselves! :D
Looking forward to Season 7. What're your thoughts on it?
This was a good review. Completely with you on the whole 'letting bug queen go' thing being a real head scratchier. Also, you referenced Fire Marshal Bill - you are awesome.
Sunset can't be better than starlight and starlight can't be better than sunset because they are the same, it's been over a year when is the starlight hate gonna die, I have nothing against you but I hate the fact people can't just let it go
How are Sunset and Starlight the same?
Night Silver Chelly
they're both reformed villains
they're both as powerful if not more powerful then twilight
they've both now gone through a character arc that led them to save the day
all I'm saying don't hate on starlight if you love sunset
Nathan Jarrett True
But I hate the idea of thinking that they are the same since their situation are slightly different.
9:58
because of the shield ,or allot visitors might not be common in canterlot ,or one of the changlings might have blow it.
I'm gonna call it. Someone will soon make an MLP/Suicide Squad parody.
Gracie Mueller I saw a picture of that
omg i am so happy he finally reviewed this episode....ive been waiting for this since it aired
when discord realizes they took fluttershy, that is so me right there
And a majority of the community...I think
the subversive way they built up starlight's magic and took it away is such a MLP way of doing things
*hears YMS music**
hmmm odd
*hears YMS sarcastic cheering**
h O MY GO D
Awesome work as always, Josh. I agree with you on most counts, and the placement of every reference was spot on. Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to more content from you.
12:36
Lion king 2 reference..... I LOVE YOU!!!
I was actually hoping for a different reference from the movie, but, eh, beggars can't be choosers.
To be more specific, I'm referring to Starlight offering a hand of acceptance and Queen Chrysalis refusing being similar to
Simba: Let it go, Zira. It's time to put the past behind us.
Zira: I'LL NEVER LET IT GO!
Lightning Bolt1103 Me, too! Especially using that song!
Jake Zero hmm... I've never realized that.
Chrysalis is Zira reborn
You are Awesome along with All your reviews.
16:01 eeyep. Creeped the bejeezers outta me when i saw that scene too.
This was fun to watch! The intro was nicely done too. You have a pretty good narrator voice. Thanks for sharing this with us! ^_^
I wonder why the reformed quartet didn't get a stained glass window of their own.
No one ever talks about that joke at the end were trixie tells discord "when pigs fly."
That intro brought into perspective just how nostalgic the LOTR and Hobbit series are for me. What a punch in tye feels.
I had a theory that chrysalis would go break Tirek out of Tartarus bc Cerberus is easily distracted. Also they both suck up magic be it love of pure magic. Any thoughts?
possible, but I doubt it. Tirek would probably try to absorb Chrysalis's magic, and it would basically be a repeat of his debut appearance
Yeah, that becomes an issue of not IF one of them will turn on the other, but who tries it first. They'd be to busy watching out for the other one backstabbing them to really do much else.
The beginning was so funny and so Awesome and the review itself Awesome to Great Job Josh!
9:40 Arlo, what are you doing here?
Top notch quality in your own special way! You're rising in the ranks Josh.
Joshscorcher what was your reaction to the Nintendo Switch?
16:02-16:06
Dang it Josh! Now I can't stop imaging a Changeling wielding a combat baton against Thorax.
9:41 Arlo?
Everything about this video was great! I loved all the jokes/movie references. This is my favorite video from your channel so far. I can't wait to see more!
...Horseshoe-icide squad?
*Slaps you across the face* What? You said you were expecting it.
Funny enough, I did see a picture referencing "Suicide Squad" with those four
Okay, that has got to be some of your best writing so far
If there`s one thing I learned throughout this series is that you should never do anything bad to Fluttershy, or you`ll be in your worst nightmare, thanks to Discord. The Changeling Queen is probably the best strategist, second to Master Xehanort, but if they could made this season finale into 3 parts (part 1 for her invasion, part 2 for the expedition of the "SubCharacter Squad" and part 3 for the climatic ending), showing how she made this plan without anyone notice, I believe this could have a greater episode.
Miles Hk David Xanatos would be ruling the world in a week if pitted against Xehanort.
I have been hoping you would review this and as always you out did your self!
Um. You're arguing with yourself.--I think that's the first sign of going insane. o.o
Also you know Sombra.....Are you an agent of Talon, Josh?
Really loving the Catcher in the Rye reference, as well as the shoutout to Mimi from Super Paper Mario
5:54, Okay it was funny the first time, second time it was Hilarious, Good on you
6:39, eh she kind of had justification for the panic attack this time.
Burner. Well played
14:12, Yeah I don't have a clue what that is.
He just followed the crowd."
I agree.
"how is she even a threat. Like you said, no followers, no place to live she's hardly dangerous."
Amongst a crowd (some of which have high levels of magic) yes, but she is _still_ technically an Alicorn, so she is still a threat to some degree.
I made a MLP Justice League Movie trailer with only clips of the finale, it was disturbing on how well it fit
Also, is it just me or are Changelings terrible actors, from Chrysalis doing a piss poor job at acting not suspicious to all of them imposing the Ponyville Ponies
RiderNexus m
11:17
Goddammit, my detailed oriented eyes, I saw that edit between the side-faceplam and the Discord in an episode. Whyyyyyy?
at 6:29 did anyone else hear "need a dispenser here!".
yes i did
15:29: he might've thought that the changelings put the real fluttershy there among them to tempt him. i mean, it's not likely, but also not impossible. plus, how do we know that he didn't take so long in the decision, (or maybe he really pulled himself back to his senses) that they decided to jump him?
Don't worry guys, Trixie just has a serious case of trypaphobia.
12:40 I LOVE YOU EVEN MORE THAN I DID BEFORE
I thought that EXACT SAME THING when I saw that. it looks UNCANNIALY like the Outsiders home.
17:00
as an alternative:
gimmie all you looooove gimmie all your loooove *insert beat here*
The World Ends with You. great game x3
For me, this is easily the best episode of the season, and the second best episode of the entire series.
To be fair josh, the changlings had maybe a year to plan this comeback
