Can we just talk about the nightmare that is the "x" button? On PlayStation it's at the bottom, on Xbox it is on the left, and on Nintendo systems, it is on the right. Like, why can't y'all just agree on where x goes??

GameCube is the definition of a cult classic. We didn’t know how good we had it back in the day. You rerelease the GameCube as the GameCube classic or whatever and I can guarantee that it will sell out almost immediately
They could release a gamecube classic that was loaded with just a handful of games, and it'd be a huge success. If they had melee, sunshine, Luigi's mansion, double dash, metroid prime, a Mario party or two, maybe a Mario tennis or soccer, and maybe a couple more, it'd do so well. Idk how many games the other 'classic' consoles had, but they'd really only need like 10 for the gamecube. Of course more would be better though.

Wow, this was a nostalgia trip I didn't even know I could have. The GameCube was my first console, because my brothers had it when I was really little. I didn't know I remembered the launch sound, and I totally recall watching my brothers play Metroid prime and Kirby's air ride. Wow. Thanks for digging up buried memories, girlfriend reviews!

Cool that you included the competitive melee clip at the end. I was just at a melee tournament 2 days ago. The game turns 19 years old this year. The tournament I went to had over 100 people competing. After all these years, the gamecube definitely is the only console from that generation still used in that way. Good thing they're basically indestructible.

back in the mid-2000s, the guy who reluctantly sold me my sega dreamcast (and my dad, who drove me to the store) absolutely refused to accept that it was part of the same console generation as the gamecube, ps2 and xbox. they assured me it was with the n64 and ps1, it had just come out a little later which was why the features and specs of the dreamcast were "sliiiightly better than them"
That is insane copium. Sega Saturn was Sega's competing console and it was it's failure that solidified Sega's irrelevance to the public mind in 3D gaming. I say this as a Sega superfun, nothing was sadder to gush about my love of the Dreamcast, only to see everyone in school wait for the Playstation 2 instead.

It's pretty crazy how long Melee lasted in the EVO lineup, especially with another Smash game also being present. Good thing the game isn't on life support now like it was before EVO 2013
there is now a world smash tour featuring Apex2020 and royalflush (in vegas, around the same time than Evo...yeah, they are flexing on them)

Nothing is healthy if you consume too much of it :D Melee just kills hands left and right.
100% the springs in the analog shoulder buttons is why everybody playing melee has tendonitis. It forces you to grip so much harder and that's where the problem begins.
You also just have to do a lot of inputs very quickly. Melee has the second highest actions per minute of any competitive video game. Starcraft has the highest APM. But having to do that many inputs really precisely for extended periods of time without proper stretching messes your hands up. That's why BTS tournaments often have clips explaining to stretch your hands. But most people just don't.
Also I was at a decently large tournament a few days ago and I was surprised by how many people were using a smashbox or b0XX
Shut up about smelly melee, it's a great controller for normal human beings.
I still have my Gamecube and I'm never getting rid of it.

It's 2020 and my Gamecube is still permanently plugged in to my entertainment system alongside my PS4, Switch and XBOX One. None of my other retro consoles get used enough to warrant a place at that table but my GC does.

I wrote a paper in college on the game cube controller so I felt that eulogy to the controller on a whole new level. It was a mistake when it was released but we miss it to this day.

THOSE 5 GAMES ARE ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING! It's funny cuz I'm the girlfriend but due to what you just explained my BF had a Play Sation 2 instead of a Game Cube (HIS LOSS) so now (2020) that I am (still) playing ZELDA BOTW and he absolutely loves ZELDA but only knows Ocarina of Time, he is absolute in love with the idea of playing BOTW but I was like no honey... first you gotta go back to Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and that opened the door to all these games you mentioned: Paper Mario, Mario Sunshine, METROID and Luigi's Mansion (which I personally love) so THANK YOU for making me (and my brothers and gamer friends who I just shared your channel with) feel like I am not alone in thinking that the Game Cube era was one of the greatest memory a 80s-90s person can have!!
I also recently dug out my GameCube and started playing through all of my old games, and I'm planning on trying to get a few I never got to play myself back in the day. I'm not a huge gamer and never had much money so I missed out on all the other consoles, but I think looking back I made the right choice buying one as as kid.

I LOVE the gamecube controller! It's honestly my favorite controller. It felt GREAT for soul calibur 2, and Link was pretty fun to play as.

Shelby don't worry, I'm 22 and I learned how Baseball works last year watching "Diamond no Ace" and "Cross Game" (which I highly recommend, especially the latter).
