Warren Haynes is such a great guitarist, and as he did with Dickie Betts and later Derek Trucks, he really knows how to compliment another player. I have had the pleasure to see him in the Allman Bros. 4 times and Govt. Mule once, and he is equally adept at slide guitar and picking. Always tasteful and always soulful, a class act and and a fine player. Thanks Fil for covering some lesser known guitarists that should be superstars! Rock on!

Warren Haynes and JB like many blues rock players remind me of old souls, who have lived many lifetimes, and have polished the musical spirit like a diamond transmuting from a lump of coal.

When Warren and Derek were both playing with the AB band I truly believe that they were 2 top 10 in the world at that time guitarists. Pretty amazing.
I think that Derek is as good as anyone right now. He's my current #1 favorite. His slide playing is like Duane and Johnny Winter somehow had a baby. Hahaha

Great video fil, and of course your analysis is spot on! This is actually gov't mule, warren's one time side band when he wasn't touring with the allman bros. Etc. Now his full time gig, they have jammed with many great musicians over the years. Gov't mule has a uniquely heavy blues and rock style and aren't afraid to stray anywhere from folk to heavy metal on any given night. Warren's generosity and kindness is well known in the jam-scene in America, and there are loads of musicians who credit warren as an influence and a friend. A cool guy and one badass guitar player!

What a video. You are right about his voice being made for the blues. That was the underrated aspect of ABB was that they have that perfect harmony of vocals and musical mastery. I like your commentaries, makes me wish that I wasn't born with this affliction of having two left ears. And when I tried to take a singing lesson, the teacher asked if it was too late to get my money back!

I love Warren, His playing and style is amazing. The man has both sole in his voice and guitar. Seen him play many times with ABB and Gov't Mule. He is a master string bender with total control. He does something a little different with bending the note up before he hits the note sometimes. As far a Joe goes, another great guitar player, and your right about his maturity. Hes gotten a lot better with slowing down with the melody. If you can, I would like you to listen and put up your thoughts on Gov't Mule's The Deepest End Live song called "Beautifully Broken". You will like it I think. and Joe Bonamassa "slow Gin" live at the Royal Albert Hall...Great tunes from two guys that can really play. Thanks and thumbs up!!

Decades can pass between us without playing guitar together, and then we can hook up and start playing and you would never know it had been years between sessions. A really special thing is happening when players do this, pretty personal too, that is what makes videos like this so special as it's just "happening" right there in front of everyone. Super Cool and again Thank You.

Just learn the basics, scales, chord progression and you are away. But and this is a Big But, at the end of the day it's the SINGER(musician) not the SONG.I have been lucky enough to see Joe Bonamassa live quite a few times over here in the UK and loved every gig as did the audience.Regarding his playing style, he's always been able to play slower with emotion.Just listen to India/Mountain Time.Oh and his singing voice has got better with age.
