All his musicians are top caliber. Ironically, The Only exception I can think of is Mahalia Barnes, who wasn't present. She can certainly sing, but her screeching on solos drives me up the wall! Other than that, I can't recall a note out of place in JB's performances.
So great to see Reese Wynans still banging it out on keyboards with the passion he had while playing with Stevie Ray Vaughan all those decades ago. Joe & Warren really tear it up as well ,& the whole band is just tight. Thanks for posting this video to share .😎👍
Pounding the ivories is keeping him forever young. It was a fantastic performance. I hope one day they post the whole show. This year at RR was my 4th time and it was his absolute best.
I've seen Mule a couple of times and they are outstanding. Warren Haynes is on a much higher level than most think that he is. I've seen JB once a couple of yrs ago at the Ryman, and man, was it an outstanding show! To see these 2 trading licks was a real treat. Thank you for sharing.
When I was 14 my dad took me to my first ABB show and we were front row and center and I was having a blast and Warren noticed me and between songs went to Dickey and they signed an Eat A Peach shirt and walked to the edge of the stage and pointed to me and tossed it right to me! I've been a fan ever since! Fast forward a few years and Dose comes out and I saw Gov't Mule in their absolute hey day and holy CRAP! They were absolutely mopping the floor with people! Warren is the man. Period.
Seen Mule 217x....Love Jamaica in January.....Do the Blues Alive at Sea with JB in March.....difficult to find classier and respectful gentlemen to the art of feeding your head with the vibe and clean links
Remember when you played that song and Josh Smith was just your side guy...! Dang, that's a lot of guitar talent on that stage. I love how Josh is just smiling while watching Warren solo. These guys really appreciate one another.
His rhythm chops are great too. Still would've been awesome to see him jump in there a rip a solo as well. Good grief Warren has jammed with everybody and everybody has jammed with Warren. He's an all timer for sure.
Check out this same tune done by these two absolute blues masters at the Guitar Center Best New Blues Guitarist competition several years back. Warren and Joe tear up a "call and response" that will change your life!! Just went back and saw it again. "GC King of the Blues 2010" .....fucking CHILLS!!
I was there, I was there, I was there. 2023 at Red Rocks was prob his best concert ever!! This was the 4th time I've seen him at RR. Fucking Fantastic!!
Thanks for posing this! My phone died before i could get too much so to relive it is awesome! The show was absolutely outstanding even with the rain. Seeing Warren come out was the cherry on the sundae. Thanks again!
Warren is the Daddy he has mastered the art of knowing how not to play a note if you understand what I'm saying Joe is incredible but Warren has been my favorite guitar picker for a while what a great time that must have been
They did this about 8 years ago at a battle of the bands thing at house of blues... Its the absolute pinnacle of guitar playing. Joe was playing a Les Paul that night.
It's always wonderful to see two guitarists of relatively equal talent share the stage. They play up to one another. Saw the Mule do their Floyd set in Indiana three nights before this show at Red Rocks. Going to see Bonamassa in November. Hope Reese Wynans is at that one .
Gran duo de monstruos de la guitarra y del blues, la gran experiencia de Warren y virtuosismo de Joe que puntea hasta debajo del agua, nos deja boquiabiertos
I have seen Covm’t in Holland with Warren of course. JB i never been because of the idiot prices! He played in his younger years in my favorite music cafe in Hoogland (NL)🤓
Nice job! The sound was reasonably good and I enjoyed the fact that you just stayed on the key players, or a wide shot. Video producers now seem to think that their cameras will melt if they stay on a shot for more than 3 seconds! JB will be absolutely smoking a solo, and you're suddenly looking at the back of the drummer's head, or somebody in the audience for no reason!😡
Thank you for the very nice response! I am just an amateur who enjoys live music and hope that by sharing it, others will see and enjoy it and perhaps think "Hey that was pretty cool, I should go check them out the next time they play my town." I'm filming on my phone (Samsung S21 Ultra FWIW) so it will record UHD and in stereo, plus has a nice optical zoom so I can get a decent closeup without having to go into digital zoom and compromising quality. As for the shot selection, thanks for noticing. I sometimes wonder about the choices even the Pros make as well. 😉
I’m sorry, but Joe is simply put, the best living blues player there is. Just when I think you can’t get more out of a blues scale lead, he goes and does just that. Warren is absolutely fantastic, what a team!
Joe's not even the best on that stage. I'm sorry, but Joe's no the lint in the belly button of Jack Pearson, Derek Trucks or Josh Smith for that matter. He just has a better manager and tailor. Not saying he's bad, not at all... but he lacks the originality required to be a true guitar god. He's the last 2 generations version of Pat Travers.
You people are insane. Joe blows them away melodicly and technically. No one has as much soul and feeling like Warren. Additionally Derek is not at that level. I know people that could blow him away
You need to take a close listen to Jack Pearson before making such deluded comments. I doubt whether you have even heard of him, but Warren Haynes thinks he's the Governor. @@gregoryschleitwiler9601
@@howlingwolf8441 weird arrangement though don't you think? Backup singers chirping gleefully, "Breaking up somebody's home!" over and over at the song ends was bizarre...watch any of Mule's 567 times played....🐎

No Joe! Your hands are in your pockets at all times. You've never stole a note! I'd like to see what's in your handkerchief though? Some rabbits maybe, if not, just pull your plectrum out, that you bought, (no doubt) and play away. Love your style. Hits all the right marks for me!. Cheers big yin..Paul..
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen on the stage, thanks for sharing this fabulous video, dear friend 🤝
This might sound silly, but the backup singers bring the band up to the next level!

No way that's what they're there for! Good ear!
ALL Aussies girls they are fantastic
@@carlwilliams6977 you have heard her dad the Jimmy Barnes ? hes a bit of a screecher too
Not a silly thought at all. Backing vocals can add a TON if done well (like here). They can also kill a performance if they are significantly off.
I was there to see this, it was my first time seeing Joe live. Let’s just say I’m hooked now 😂
This song / arangment is everyday stuff for these men of music but, it the best to me! Thank you !❤🙏
Killer Arrangement!!

As Warren was playing the solo Joe was thinking, I wonder if he will sell me that Les Paul.
Josh is so good at laying back and playing amazing rhythm! of course he can shred with the best of then too but the subtle stuff’s impressive too

To be fair, at another point in the show Joe did introduce Josh as "The best guitar player on this stage" and he ripped a pretty good solo of his own.
