- Got out before expected heavy rains. Hit a sweet pocket and didn't get wet. In the 2:45 walk, I had 40 fish to hand. That's just about one fish every five minutes! Hot bite with mostly smaller browns in the 10-12" range. Several around 13". The rain came hard and a tornado warning occurred, so the streams will be flooded for a few days. Happy fishing!

Native riparian zone trees along our streams and rivers are the most important factor for the food chain of trout. Most fishermen would not have noticed the native riparian zone trees on the streambank where you caught brown trout over 12 inches in this video. Check at around 20:00 and 35:00 the trees overhanging the stream where your bigger brown trout were caught. Bring along a freshly cut black willow tree walking stick and plant your walking stick where the stream needs some shade, protect an eroding stream bank, and provide the needed nutrition in the food chain of big brown trout.
Tru Dat! Happy Fishing!!
just got back from college in south dakota, couldn’t wait to get back out and fish my home creeks in Viroqua WI. PB of 16 inches. your vid’s make me wanna go out even more! good work
Thanks and happy fishing!
I'm watching your awesome video while lying here in hospital bed. LIVER Surgery finally tomorrow. I'll be looking forward to watching while recovering. Thank you very much for the outstanding videos buddy.
I'll be thinking of you, hope all goes according to plan. Good luck.
Thank you very much.
That was one of the more beautiful streams I’ve seen you fish in a while. Nice outing!
Thanks, that is a beautiful place. Happy fishing!
I just noticed that landowner has a wire going across the stream. That’s incredibly illegal if they do not have cattle. Supposedly you’re supposed to report them because they’re blocking a waterway. Happy fishing!
There s no cattle there, but I wouldn't call that wire a barrier either. Happy fishing!
I can also attest that Buggins is amazing. I keep a bottle in my fishing vest and it works wonders! Effin gnats fly right into every hole in your face. This stuff prevents that! :) Great vid as always Ron. Glad you missed the storms! Gonna be murky for a while :(
Thanks and happy fishing!
Hows the rain over that way been for you this season? Surprisingly, we've been getting an extremely healthy amount of rain in Northcentral WI this spring. The streams and fish are doing really well because of it. Usually I find myself saying "we need more", but not this year.
Same here, nice to see somewhat normal levels. Happy fishing!
I caught my first 20 of the year today
Congrats! Happy fishing!
Funny about the no trespassing sign. My friend has had some bad luck and run into some psychos. I got the spots where this happened pinned on google maps if you want to do some special episodes featuring these streams.
I am not in to pestering known problems, but drop an an email and I'll put it on my list. Happy fishing!
Any suggestions on where to fly fish in Wisconsin? Visiting home from CO and would love to get on some Wisconsin trouts
The best suggestion I have is to check out the WI DNR website for the county maps where you will be in WI. All streams are mapped and listed. The T.R.O.U.T tool they have is a live map with public access and easements. I suggest this as easements in WI are often habitat managed for fly fishing and may give greater access for casting etc. Less bushwhacking with a 10 foot pole. Lots of rain here recently and more coming. Not much fishable water at the moment. Happy fishing!
I just moved to Appleton from South Africa. Not really familiar with fly fishing this side of the world, if there’s anyone in the area or that can give me some pointers to a shop nearby that can link me up with some guys. Not necessarily for guiding or anything, just to figure out laws and colors and flies and rivers etc.
Thanks for the channel and videos!
Welcome to Wisconsin! Keep in mind you are several hours away from the streams you see in my videos. Lake Michigan and its tributaries offer great lake run salmon and trout chances. So that puts you in the middle of nowhere between L Mi and the driftless. There are some streams in your area. The best resource is online at the WI DNR website. You can find rules, streams and more there. Also any license dealer will have the printed book of trout fishing regulations on hand for free. Happy fishing!
My favorite show on earth.... WTF!!!!!!
Thanks and happy fishing!
Hello, can you tell me what kind of fishing rod you use? I like your videos, greetings from Poland
Thanks. I use a 5'6" medium power, fast action, 2 piece Shimano FX series rod. FXS56MC2. It's a very inexpensive rod at less than $20. What I really like about the FX rods is the eyelets and guides. They will not wear from braided line at all. For lake run fish I use a larger version FXS66MHB2. Happy fishing!
Ron, it's been a while since you've posted a video. Just curious how the streams are where you are? High and dirty I'm guessing? I can't seem to find time to get out these days, but hoping to soon!
Yep, been idle, but not because of water. My back is giving me a bit of trouble. Streams in the far west driftless are clearing and fishable now. Good luck !
@@WisconsinTroutFishing sorry to hear that! Rest up. Look forward to your next video :)
