The EXE for substantial is called X-terion. He’s a Sega employee that overworked himself to death and possessed a Sonic Jam disk. I think he’s one of the few EXE’s that are actually friendly.
X-Terion is basically a sega employee that died from a seizure while overworking. His soul got transferred into one of the games he was working on, Sonic Jam. He was in the disc for years until his adult daughter found the disc in a box of his belongings. She then plays the game(?) and X finally has a chance to finally move on to the afterlife. Fun fact: His real name is Jonathan Fitzgerald Michaels
Little Fun Fact: Fatality hasnt been restored, just re-added cause i think one of the mod team crew asked to remove it from the build, since i saw a vid with fatality in the build.
The creator of Fatal Error was on the mod team, but specifically asked for its removal between the mod's cancellation and the release of the unfinished build since he split off in part to make his own mod.

Though nobody knew what they were when Sonic R was released(1997 btw), so people started making creepypastas based on the creepiness of the whole "limp floating doll" thing. I wouldn't blame them, Tails Doll never really became part of any kind of story significance until they showed up in the comics for a bit, though I don't know how much.
