Pretty much, the Sonic you face you couldn't place goes by the name rewrite. Pretty much, within the universe he exist in, is the reason behind the many exes we see today, as he is the data of the exe genesis cartridge.

Yeah, Rewrite is the result of Sonic.exe's form adapting to the numerous playthroughs of the game. Each playthrough results in a slightly altered Sonic.exe, making him more self-aware, more egocentric, and more powerful.
However, I like to think Rewrite isn't Sonic.exe, since Sonic.exe is just a demonic entity possessing Sonic's corpse, and that Rewrite is actually Satan himself taking the form of Sonic, considering Rewrite takes the pose of the Baphomet in the second phase, and the Baphomet is associated with Satanism. In addition, Rewrite's ears are pointed up, resembling a demon's horns.

Vs. Rewrite (Sonic.exe) is a mod made by Springless, that takes on the original story of the Sonic.exe creepypasta. This mod takes place after many playthroughs of the original Sonic.exe game. Each playthrough gives a different experience to the player by rewriting itself. Fun Fact:Rewrite is actually a file that came out of its cage,And he also took the forms/textures of previous EXE'S. He's self aware,broke the fourth wall/he's talking to you literally,Also he's entered the
PU'S of other EXE'S so he can gain more power. He's also a reference to the original EXE, Sonic.EXE .
So, to answer what sonic this is, this is rewrite, and basically, he's a ai that adapts every time you play the game or in other learns from last time you played and also is the puppeteer of majin, sonic.exe, and lord x in that world. This is what I believe
Kinda like Hello Neighbor, AI that learns more and more every time you interact with it. Pretty neat, imagine they make an actual horror game based off of the mod.

@@Stvntgm No, It's supposed to mean like how each time you die, You replay. He rewrites the game each time changing sonic.exe, So it means that he comes back each time you replay.
One thing I've notice that people seem to haven't is when rewrite becomes the center of the screen he gets 3 red rings on his arms and one leg.
He also has a fourth one on his neck.

And when you lose during that Baphomet Pose section you actually get a unique loss, outside of that phase you just are converted into a Red Ring. However, during that phase you are converted into a Red Ring which then goes on the leg that doesn't have one. Essentially he's attempting to take your soul and finish his Red Ring collection (Which also happens to correspond to the 3 characters you fight, 3 Red Rings and he has Majin, EXE and Lord X as forms he can take)
Each ring replicates each soul he catched like majins, sonic.exes and lord x's when he catches bf he has 4 rings which means he has bf's soul
It was shown in Springless Music's most recent video that the rings represent souls of the other characters, the first one on his right wrist being tails and the other two are probably knuckles and eggman
In 8:17 rewrite Sonic said along the lines of “Boyfriend is nothing for me” it means that boyfriend is basically nothing to him rewrite also saying “go to my world and leave you without a world it also means that since your in the game and takes your soul he will not give you a world to stay with he will leave you in nothing but darkness and a void for you once he takes your soul and Sonic will say “playing with notes is so much fun” he’s making fun of boyfriend about playing with note every time and in the mod he’s saying something fast and he says “through the screen I’m looking for” so this line means that he’s not looking for boyfriend but the person behind the screen that’s what he’s looking for.

I really love how Boyfriend is kinda, fighting as you for you. Cause as Sonic said, Boyfriend himself means nothing to Sonic and Sonic wants the player.
Also noticed how when you got a POV shot, he had a ring on his arms and one on his leg but is missing one. And when BF dies, he actually only leaves behind a red ring. This guy already has souls, BF and your ability to type notes is just the only thing standing between him and you. Specifically him having that 4th ring, whatever that will do.
Probably give him a bigger arsenal since he also only had 3 other forms he seems like he could change into or summon or whatever it’s doing with the other versions of Sonic showing up

i think the reason X And Majin Sonic Fused together was because it was majin sonic's turn to take his place before lord x does, but X stayed, so they took over eachother's body.

My idea on what this mod is about:
Rewrite/iconic sonic you see: is possibly able to walk in the song *TRINITY* because he broke the invisible barrier thats protecting *BOYFRIEND* Thats possibly why he was stopping then slowly marching towards _boyfriend_
Rewrite possibly could mimic bodies of majin and original exe then he messed up and merged them together
