Man I really miss this I used to work in a hobby shop once I would love to get involved in this again. I am so happy I found your channel brings back some really cool memories for me
The hpi nitro rs4 racer I use for drifting has a piece of fuel tubing zip tied on the controller grip behind the trigger. It normally allows about 1/2 throttle. If I need /want more revs temporarily, I smash the trigger and it goes to about 3/4. You can play with the EPA to suit. It has ran like this for years and it keeps the revs in check when just tooling around. I've even let young children use it like this and it's fine.
Thats a really good idea. I thought the engine might of over heated from revving out without the car moving all that fast. Air cooling is only as good as how fast you are going. Revv limiting though? That is cool
Not the same, but similar. I underclock my PC, I'm running a 12900k/3090 which when left unrestricted cheeeeeews through the power and gets super hot. I do a 10% underclock and it really makes no difference in the games but uses about 2/3 of the power and generates about 1/2 the heat. If I ever play a game that bottlenecks the cpu or gpu I can just go back to 100%, but in the mean time I'm saving energy and not turning my room in to a furnace. Long story short. With RC cars, computers, anything really, if you buy high quality items you don't need to run them at 100% to have a good experience. Gains in most applications (HP, GHz, et al) is not a linear response, the last 10% is usually 50% of the heat/power/stress placed on the system. Your manual limiter for your RC car is a genius idea and has the benefit of having a pseudo override by "smashing the trigger" back. Gonna give that a try myself. Thanks mate. Peace from Oz.
