If your worried about shock boots you can make your own from balloons. Grab a pack of the long balloon's and stretch it over the spring then trim off the ridge end and cut off the sealed end leaving a few mm to tuck inside the spring at top an bottom , put the spring back on the shock an job done. No more moisture and dirt to contaminate the shock oil.

    • @kartguy
      @kartguy ปีที่แล้ว +3

In atvs and bikes it also helps keep from getting the piston rod dented by rocks and crap, love me some shock covers.

Can also remove the connector on the end of the rod, slide the boot on, then screw the connector back on. Little more time consuming than the balloon trick, but works great if you want the slightly more durable boots. Either way works, so it's really more of the builder's preference.

Kev, if you found this menu difficult, you haven't seen anything yet ! If you buy good and expensive parts, they all work ! Cheap nitro engines are a pain even for experienced tuners because of the tolerances ! For new RC enthusiasts, always buy proper gear, cheap is expensive !

A word of advice from someone with 20+years of nitro experience .patience is a must .pretty simple to get going get the car get batterys in receiver and controller get your glow starter charged fill your fuel tank with the correct nitro fuel .put glow starter in the top of the engine head pump fuel through to engine .and pull pull start after a few pulls the engine should fire up .tuning the engine if it needs tuning can be tricky though .good luck 👍

I'd like to say you are FAR from a novice with rc, Kevin! You have more experience with more models then most any of us and your constantly wrenching on them! If there's 1 person I'd entrust to wrench on my rigs it'd be you lol. You can easily see the amazing handling of that mp10t vs what you normally rip around with. One amazing piece of kit! Thats the best tuning job you've ever done Kev! Perfect smoke, no bogging, zippy response and consistent idle. Well done sir!

Huge difference when you use top quality nitro engines.. Back in the day (late 80's early 90's) with 1/8th scale buggies I used a few different types and they all had issues. Magnums loved breaking cranks lol.
Went to a race spec OS RX-B .21 and it made the world of difference. And the power and suprise suprise...they held a tune for more than a tank of fuel lol.
Good luck with racing that kit looks spectacular out of the box!!!

I gotta swar by kyosho tho. I built a VR1 corvette of theirs way back in the day and it always ran like a top. I haven't run it for years due to no nitro available where I live but I bet it still runs like a champ.

that part of retune and engine go out of tune after a tank or two i dont miss that part by running all electric today.

@@extec101 totally agree. Brushless power is by far superior.

When I "tuned" my first ever nitro engine I had it running waaay to lean, it absolutely screamed but I melted the conrod. 😅😂

This so much, cheap nitro engines are likely one of the reason so many people dislike them and think they are a pain. Recently bought an XRAY NT18 with a 0.8ccm engine thats made in Japan and holy moly that thing was easy to tune. Even with piss poor settings it would at least still run and not suddenly stop out of nowhere as I experienced with Force Engines.

Awesome. I been racing all Tekno cars all electric 1/8th scales, but I just built a Nitro NB48 2.1Tekno buggy this is getting me motivated to finish my car and jump in the deep end trying to figure out how to tune it and drive a nitro.
    You rock Kev

Ya just cant beat the old school starter boxes.
Looking at this Buggies really haven't changed since my PB Mustang 2 from way back in the 80's.
Different shock towers and positions , no top radio plate and no upper link between the front and rear differentials. Far better plastics, no bumpers and everything that needs to be drilled or fitted in the kit.
The old kits never had linkages or even diagrams of them you had to get piano wire or bicycle spokes and make them yourself. I remember my first RC500 Associated kit was so crude that the suspension arms didn't even have pivot holes drilled in them. An absolute pain when it came to setup.

I'm STILL bashing the crap out of my mojave, and it STILL has not broken. I've run it into boulders, curbs, and parked cars (shhhhhh), and I've fully sent it off of some huge ramps. The body has zip tie stitching, and some of it is just ground off, and my tires are going bald. Puts a smile on my face every single time. ☺️
