@@TheMdavis07 the infraction is the hoonitruck and this new car is the now retired hoonicorn (retired due to ford and ken block splitting)
I gotta say I like this car! I remember when it came out it did seem to have some electrical problems. From the ESC to the steering servo but other than that it looks like Big Bang for buck!
I got one because of you Kev thank you so much for recommending this one! I'm going to convert mine too work over the internet and control it using my racing simulator. I've done this before with other RCs! But none this big and on-road

But parts support is non existent. Well 2-3 weeks ago when I, looked it was.
The Electronics really are lacking... slow servo... average ESC.
Any Chance you'd have a spare X-Maxx 6s 1600kv motor lying around and a Max-6 ESC to have a bit of a blast with. Might really liven thing this up.

The higher c count can damage them it’s a surpass hobby esc it can barely do 6s and with that higher c count it can damage them
Good point! Traxxas wants you to buy their overpriced batteries and fancy chargers with the goofy Traxxas connectors. I'm a Traxxas guy and I'm saying this. Zeee lipos with EC5 plugs are where it's at!

I've just plumbed for one of these this morning.... the rolliing chassis version. My temptation to resist buying more RC's is utterly pathetic...ha! Anyway, I've gone for a 4082 2200kv motor, and Hobbywing WP 8BL150Amp esc. Will certainly look into a quick servo like yours. Thanks for the vid!

i love this "Hoonicorn", and Arrma's Felonicorn too. The original "Hoonicorn" was co-designed along with Vaughn Gittin Jr. 20 years ago. 🤯
By the time you've upgraded the electronics, you may as well buy the Arma. Plus with the Arma you're guaranteed spare parts availability.

To be fair, I just ordered an Eachine EAT04 truck off Banggood, and it arrived with a super stiff front diff - one of the planet gears had a lot of defects. Banggood refunded me the cost of a new front diff, (and a tube of diff grease!) worth $16 when I told them about it. Just got the new diff in, after 2 weeks.
Not to say this is the standard BG experience, Lord knows it's by far the best one I've ever had. But honestly, I've never tried, assuming it would be a hassle. Dead wrong.
@@GhostRyderFPV I get that spares *are* available for BG specials, but I wonder how long they'd be available for. With big name brands there's usually a lot of spares (and aftermarket parts) easily available for a long period of time.
I suppose if I were to buy a BG special, I'd stock up on spare parts at the time of purchase just to be sure. They have some decent looking cars but I've never risked purchasing from them for my aforementioned reasons. Your comment actually gives me a bit more confidence in doing so.
@@BobMonkeypimp Thanks Bob! I've been a "drone boi" since Nintendo Wii's had to sacrifice their gyros for our flight controllers - at first your only (realistic) options for parts were the last places you confidence in buying from - Banggood, AliExpress, Gearbest, and to a degree HobbyKing.
Everything you pick up from Horizon will be high quality, well supported, and easy to use, for sure they're an amazing company with a fantastic rep. I have a ton of E-Flite and Hobbyzone planes and parts, a Losi car, and some Spektrum stuff. There's no denying Horizon, Traxxas, DJI, etc. make great stuff that everyone has access to.
But sometimes you want that "Indiana Jones" feeling - where you're looking for a diamond in the rough. A good find on our Chineseum website list, like the FY-03h or 12428, K989 etc, those finds bring a little extra with their purchase, like you're _so underground you wear sunglasses while doing it_
But you take your savings you worked SO HARD for, ha!, and invest in all those shiny bits you'd buy for those more expensive counterparts, anyways. Maybe two, though, because you never know!

Great video and a epic looking car. One question Kevin, which steer servo do you recommend for a Xmaxx. The original is starting to get a bit sluggish. Appreciate your reply.
Either get a new stock servo or get a different one such as the perfect pass monster servo. Its not cheap but has 56 kg (over 110 lbs!) torque! But there are ALWAYS cheaper options, just not quite as good.

With Banggood prices going up i rather go for the original get the Arrma and enjoy better quality, better parts support and faster shipping. BG was good a year or two ago.

Any advice please just bought my first rc car traxxas rustler vxl on 3s 5000 battery only seem to get 10 mins run time on concrete. Its on sports mode default i think do i have to change for longer time

Hey, kevin don't use the B3 pro charger which you got with the car because I had 3 of these charges blow after charging 10 battery packs (3s each)
It would have to be half that price for me to even consider it.
Even cheaper if I know I have to replace electronics
