00:00 Intro
02:51 Lap - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
I should have edited this video a bit differently, so you could see the TC light flash. It may or may not have "saved" the situation. HOWEVER, at a closer look it seems that it starts working instantly as I went on the brakes in SX (5:55 mark), which probably made the initial slide/aquaplaning just worse, because TC is essentially applying brakes to keep the car straight... in a scenario where you have grip. Not during semislick/standing water 0 grip. You should never go on the brakes in this situation. Thoughts?
You wanna wreck it before giveaway! ;-)
Full brakes, all speed you can remove will make it more safe
yup, traction control hit the brakes ans that was it.. Nice catch.
reminds me of winter driving conditions in a snow storm in canada.. Never traction control or abs..bad bad bad.
Not sure about the TC but think you held the brakes too long, if you'd come off them and been very lightly on throttle you'd have balanced the car and possibly pulled off a perfect drift👍 Trying to be quick in those conditions is horrible, I don't know how you manage to calmly talk through it all!
Oh yeah, I think I see the TC kicking in slightly with the revs dropping and then coming back to 5K rpm
Misha was like "Oh no I'm spinning!! Anyway"
Misha just enabled Dirt Rally 2.0 mode @ 5:58 just to make the lap a bit more interesting
Misha just stays relaxed while sliding in a 30% angle 😭
Freaking out won't keep him on the road
Calm is king ;)
hes the goat anyways@@flurpoid
insane
yup did a 90 degree slide with two lock to lock countersteers. i still ended up in the snowdrift in reverse.. drove out in the tracks i made.. 2 ft of snow.. LOL
What I find amazing is how the track totally changes in the wet. All the lines you've committed to muscle memory are now areas with rubber you want to avoid.
casually slides in a 30 degree angle.
Anyway, moving on.
Not to be that guy, but what is a 30% angle honestly?😂 I thought we measured those in degrees?
@@jay-wens i guess 100% would be 90º in this case, 100% - moving sideways
@@jay-wens miswrote. Meant in degrees.
@@jay-wens Well you could use radians instead, 30 degrees would be pi / 6
This was epic 😅 Misha saying we might lose grip 5:57 and grip was lost...Handled like a pro and Excellent save.
Misha, I am just blown away at your confidence, the poise you have while driving and talking and explaining everything is really amazing to see. Keep it up, and stay safe!
I was thinking the same. His confidence is just .. 100%
Driving with semislicks in the rain is the dark souls equivalent of defeating the final boss with no armor while at lvl 1. 😂
And he enjoys it!
Opposite lock on wet grass and mud, totally fine in rallying.
It'd be awesome to see Misha do some rally driving, I bet he'd adapt very quickly.
On slicks? :)
@@billcar50 Yes. If you do a loop of three (different) stages without service it's not unlikely to start in sunshine and end in rain.
But with trees
Walls, ditches, fences, rock...
Would be interested to see a comparison between a typical all season street tire and a track tire like the Nankangs in wet conditions.
Great update on how to wet lap - including a spicy situation 😮nice save here Misha 😎
This and the wet laps before are very helpful to learn the wet lines and do some safe laps even in bad weather.
The moment of countersteer to straighten the car at 6:01 onwards is where most people would lost it. I mean, Misha made it look much easier to correct. And btw, really great kind of cinematic intro!
I agree however I find the less grip you have the easier it gets to catch a slide, drift etc. In those conditions the car is alot less snappy if you were to over correct a slide. Versus in the dry on slicks, an over correction is ☠️. At least those are my personal findings in sim racing
@@Joolian.r Yes, that is very true.
Great skill. Seeing that calm reaction shows your experience.
I have a lot of experience and mileage but I bet that I would overreact and end up in barriers even if I think I would not. Be safe my man.
My first laps at the Ring were in the wet. I found it extremely difficult to break the muscle memory of car positioning for a dry line vs. wet and I felt like I was crawling along. Seeing Misha also having to really slow it down is really great reinforcement of just how cautious you have to be in the wet.
I've done track days in the wet and they must have been my most fulfilling and enjoyable laps I've done, all about control and thinking
Im so thankful for your content on the ring, its so helpful as a beginner 👌🏻WHAT A SAVE BTW😍
You rock Misha, insanely calm and concentrated on this very delicate driving on Green Hell. Outstanding indeed.
Had a similar situation on the highway once with snow(RWD car). Nr one thing: stay calm. I used the gas pedal to stay out of the barrier, ending up doing a perfect unintentional 360. It's fun when you don't end up with damage hehe.
Poor Misha... He almost had an heart attack. And almost no car to give away. He saved the day once again! Nice done!
Did you wet yourself 😂. He didn't even flinch.
mate, you're really testing the limits (in foreign cars as well) the last weeks. Stay safe and relax a bit, don't push it too hard!
I'd just say as a takeaway: don't go on the full welt ring with Semi slicks!
I totally agree especially when driving other people's cars. Sometimes i think its completely unnecessary. I at least hope he does 1 full lap ( not pushing to hard ) to get a feel of the persons car before taking for a pretty much full on lap. I hope he stays safe.
I agree, I trust his ability absolutely. But I do feel like him driving other peoples cars is a disaster waiting to happen, in the past he has had complete brake fails, loose wheel nuts, it could all go very wrong.
@@seanbyrne8767he does not, he's said on Instagram that 99% of the time he only does 1 total lap in a car.
@@darkhorse4148 yes, he has the knife between the teeth. You don't know the car and as we saw with the horrible accident lately, sometimes you can't do anything. And the higher speed you go, the more dangerous it gets. He also drives stock cars as hard as modified cars and stock cars often take damage from it (suspension, brakes), especially older ones.
Glad you made this kind of video, now I can see where I made mistakes a week ago where I almost crashed my car twice in the wet
This is the best instructional clip how to drive in the wet! You can learn a LOT from this and as well lose a bit fear from driving in the wet. Yes, stay outside in curves. I got it. Thank you for this!!
I think I did well when I drove in the week but it was a fair number of years ago. 14 mins lap in a 2003 80hp fiesta!
It was my first and only lap, no idea about wet lines and the tyres were still hard from the 4 people and luggage I had in my car!
My friend did a 720 in his mini one but no incident!
I much enjoyed the fun roads back to the campsite, going brisk with an Audi TT and a 5 series! Much gripper!
Thank you Misha. Great video. I’ve done more than 10k lap on sims but the 4 laps of the real thing on a rental E49 330i 6mt where amazing. Thanks.
5:54 slippery sliding moment. Good save!
This is very educational, good stuff, thank you!
Had that happen in my Landruiser on snow. Started going sideways. Managed to match tire speed and pull it back in. Lucky I had center diff locked.
Nice move using the "raingutters" for better cornering😆
A challenging lap, well done as always.
Thank you for this video Misha.
ty for this very educational video on how it's like to drive on very slippery road.
I didn't even think about it until Misha mentioned it, I'd love to see some POV drives!
Great Video Micha! Any chance for a future GR Yaris video in the wet?
Some comparison to rwd only cars and differences in driving techniques would he very interesting!
Nice educational vid Mischa! So the takeaway is to keep DSC on in rain and avoid dry racing line? And also to approach Schwedenkreuz straight and keep neutral gas, even when slding? You were off gas in there but given the panic of hitting wall its understandable.
I love nurburgring and spa... except for the constant rain. It's ok as a nice treat sometimes but i tend to hope for dry conditions lol
Happened at a Phillip Island motorcycle track day and I was the only person in class not on slicks. I had the entire track to myself for 40 minutes. Awesome circuit. Rain is liquid horsepower for doing slides.
love the intro rain shots of the track.
Wet days are so fun, you really get to perfect.more of your skills
Great video Misha! If you’re doing this again in the rain, could you add telemetry to the video? I feel like it’s a good way to show how much you throttle and gas through the corners.
Stay calm and look to where you want to go, not at what you are afraid to hit .
Thanks for showing us. Those conditions are even tricky with rain tires .🤣
Braking or brake based tc is no go, on no grip situations. This winter an electric car was saved on a ice slope (with trees and tight corner at the end) by putting it on reverse it was amazing how the electric motors handled the slowing. down. Just an example that braking is no go.Brakes just weren't fast enough. Thank you Pante for the idea. (Snow tyres on)
Great save. Smooth, no panic breaking no sudden moves. Perfect.
Very impressive, especially on those tires
your a madman, great video. this is really educational
This is the same technique that is used on every track with every wheeled vehicle. Stay out of the rubber tracks left by the tires on the track. The great work you do, with a vehicle with tires that drain very little water and without high automatic pressure, knowing the circuit yes, but still maintaining an impressive concept, especially aimed at hearing the car talk to you "with your butt" . LEGENDARY
Really good Video, thanks mate
Misha on top as always!!
The ring is so so challenging with its change of altitudes and random bumps
I showed one of my kids this video and ask her if there was any lesson she could learn from this video. First thing she said was...."dont panic and keep your cool" i smiled and thought ....not what i was thinking but she has a good point. Thats very important. Even as a adukt we can learn from our kids
That's some lovely cinematography
New hidden camera man doing wonders
wow amazing driving skills there in the wet great stuff
I have been enjoying Misha's content every day for a month now since I have found him on Facebook.
I consider myself a decent driver but I would have no clue how to make my journey to the Nürburgring to give it a shot.
Prachtige beelden bij het intro!👍👍
It's also just as important to have your car correctly set up for the conditions. Maybe some Uniroyal rainsport 5's or 3's would be a good start.
13:06
Rain tyres would help😉
Showing how to drive the nb ring on a fully wet line on pretty much slicks (100% dry tiers for sure) that's impressive 👌
Hi Mischa, very nice video. There are two things that I find interesting in this regard that I would like to hear your thoughs on:
How do the faster cars handle the slower cars sticking to the grippier wet line during a race? Do the GT3s wait behind you for a straight section where noone needs to cross the dry line or can they just send it anywhere and be OK?
How come some parts of what you are showing differ so much from what Maro was telling Steve in his wet on-board? Like the Hohenrain - you go all the way on the outside but Maro was taking it all the way on the inside curb. I don't mean this in a bad way, I am genuinely curious.
6:00 it's moments like that which make you think, wow, the next 10 minutes could have been a very different experience 😂
Misha is so cool . love your videos!
Youre a great driver misha. 🙏✌🏻🇳🇱
i love videos like this, well done sir.
You should do a full video on how to race during rainy conditions
Great job
Keep it up
This reminds me the importance of the tyres. I see so many people driving everyday cars with tyres so worn off that are close to a semi-slick tyre.
plenty of aquaplaning hehe glad you're safe
Misha training on nurburgring rallycross track:D
"We might lose Grip"😂 ... great safe!!!
Bro really wanted to try rally driving lmao good save!
Misha good Video.Bei 5:55 hast den Wagen echt gut abegefangen, und viel zu kurbeln am Lenkrad, man merkt die Erfahrung.Denke gewollt was das nicht oder 😀😳😳
What a nerve wracking lap! I gained anxiety just watching this lol
6:01 great moment, with a great reputation
Never expected to see river crossings on this channel :)
5:58 i suddenly remember a certain quote to another driver in one of your older videos,
"and that's why the f**k we stay off the... dry line." plus, it's been a while misha.
It would be interested to see you do a round in an Aston Martin Vantage V550, if you ever have the chance to have access to one of course.
03:36 Maro Engel takes the inner curb here and not the outside line, I was curious about this. :)
nice drift bro! 5:55
5:56 that was the moment he knew He Fucked Up lol
Mijn eerste en enigste ervaring was in de regen.
Reden met focus mk3 st op yokohama neonova ador8 en was rijden met eieren onder het gaspedaal, tractie in bochten, remmen en accelereren was zo goed als zero.
Does visualizing the inclines and guestimating the flow of water helps?
You did well controlling the car mate nicely recovered!
Best video yet Misha.
Looking very casual considering you didnt want the car to slide. Nice control misha
legends are good in the rain 👊
Well saved Misha 👏👏
Only seen the intro now, looks nice😅
Good excuse would be now that Misha just wanted to copy the Lap of the Dakar Porsche sport auto did. 😀 Fun Video to watch.
This lap looks like Schumi 1996 in Barcelona ;)
Imagine Misha making these slides for more klicks. That would make the haters even more salty 😁
The Nurburgring is a whole new beast in the rain!
Well i recommend Uniroyal Rainsport 5 for this conditions
insane man! i'm think right now how challeging can be to the developers to simulate all that in a car simulator
It's only a bit of water 🤪🤣 good driving!
Hi Misha :) Greetings from Canada!
Thought I was watching PFI speed with the shared music.
i rather prefer these no grip moments in the rain on my sim racing tbh. no money for a 2nd car =)
nice that u are showing the community a lap in the wet. liked it !
even with your instructions in this video. i will stay off the track haha. i like a bit of slippery action but this is to much for me :). liked the video though. ga zo door Misha echt een van de leukere auto youtube kanalen.
At that point I'd definitely have said oh ooo.
Pls drive that ID Bus around the Ring😁
Germany has water absorbing tarmac wondering how it works on dry. On wet is amazing almost like dry.
So many ways to respond to this! Some may be applauded, some not.
Pushing the limits while not wrecking the car and not hurting yourself or others is the highest priority here!!
Do we listen to Misha or go out and learn for ourselves if we already haven't?
A good balance between the two i think!!
Nutshell: Be the best student and work hard at your dreams!! Be safe❤
I'd love to have a overlay with your heartbeat next to speed/rpm 👍
