This is great! This is everything I want to see in a side by side comparison video. I am curious to see the results at 100yds I’ll be sure to watch that one next. Great job!
As an owner of both the Brno ZKM-611 and the CZ 512 I cannot say enough about their quality of construction. To the bolt riding on the polymer lower nobody seemed to care about that with the old nylon 66's. Yes they are quirky regarding the safety needing to be off to charge the rifle ,but you get used too it, oh and I did notice a problem that I had that showed up in your vid ....if those scope rings are not super tight the whole scope and rings slowly creep forward under recoil. Great review
Very good observation. I did not notice the front scope rings until I got home. I like the 512. My only complaint is the trigger being heavy. I think it will improve with time and use. I would not feel guilty toting the 512 in the woods. The ZKM 611 will only come out when the weather is nice. They have become quite collectible. Thank you for your input and information.
Yes looked it up on Gunbroker and..!!!!!! my goodness that ZKM-611 sure went up in value. Keep doing those reviews, refreshing change from all the steel clangers.
And don't you like the guy that wants $400 for one 10 round magazine. Makes the $200 magazine seem like a bargain....not. Glad I bought mine with extra mags. Have a good weekend, looks like a winter storm for us.
I also have extra 6 rounders but had noticed on the CZ-USA shop that they had both 10 and 5 round mags... but were $110 for the 10 rnd and $100 for the 5....funny how people scalp stuff. Any way hello from the frozen wastes of Nebraska...we had our storm a couple of days ago. Glad i work inside was minus 10 the other nite
Great effort in doing all these comparisons. That helps. I know the time and work it takes to do this. I did not see better accuracy from my view of the videos comparing the CZ to the Savage, But the CZ is made with quality and sooner or later that will make a big difference. The other day I was out shooting my Marlin model 60 on whistle pigs using Winchester 22LR Super X 36 gr HP. I was making clean kill shots out to 100 yards. But Winchester primers have an issue with FTF. In my Ruger 77/22M bolt rifle, I get very good results with the Hornady 30gr VMax. Back when the 22WMR was scarce as hens teeth, since it is one of my favorite cartridges in several firearms owned, I decided to create my own mini varmint cartridge that is reloadable. I am still working on a good platform, but out of a Savage Axis with custom barrel and chamber, this little center fire cartridge with 40 gr hollowpoints is a hand grenade at 2770 fps. When I get a different rifle built, I will post a video or 2. Keep up the great work!
Just picked up the A22 and amazingly accurate little gun that feels full size. I can shoot dime size groups at 30 yards with a Vortex 2x7 scope, all I will ever need.
Very fair comparison but I would disagree with the "takedown ". I'm sure some people will disagree but I'm more concerned about cleaning the rifle, not just taking the stock off. All you need to do with the savage is remove the dust cover, twist the return spring and the bolt slides out the back. This will allow you to clean the rifle from the chamber end forward, instead of the muzzle end. The CZ is more similar to a 10/22 or marlin 60. It can be cleaned from the chamber end, like the savage but the bolt spring is a bit of a challenge to get in without bending it (same as marlin 60s). It is true that you'll have to remove the scope on the savage to clean it but that's only if you select the right/wrong scope. I have a Burris 4.5-14x42 , Burris 3-9x40 aa well as most of my other scopes that do not interfere with cleaning/removing the dust cover on my savage A17. I wish I had bought the CZ, I will admit, but it should also be mentioned that CZs are not nearly as easy to find, at least not for 100 miles from my area. One more drawback of the CZ is it comes with a 11mm dovetail for mounting a scope. The weaver bases are far more sturdy..
What is the point of doing accuracy testing at 25 yards ? I would much prefer to see you shoot it at 100 yards as this is well within the range of the rifle and cartridge and quarry.
My savage a22lr rifle has iron sights, but they are useless. You cannot get low enough to get a sight picture. Great comparison of these rifles, thanks a lot!
Lol if somebody keeps having problems loading the savage they shouldn't be using it.its very easy to lock in. I've never had an issue from day one. Great video keep up the good work.
Both are great guns, but the Savage gets the nod because of a better trigger, flush and and glass filled stock that can be bedded. As a hunting tool one of them with the heavy 16.5 inch barrel would be a dream.
Both guns seem to be more accurate with the high speed, low weight (shorter) bullets. The longer, heavier, slower bullets were less accurate. This makes me wonder if the twist rate is adequate to fully stabilize the bullet. I would be interested in seeing if they keyhole at longer range.
So I have both savage and CZ rifles. CZ hands down makes the best small caliber/ rim fire rifles. I haven’t shot any large caliber CZ but I imagine they’re just as great! Love the savages I have a A22 A22 mag and the A17 all in my opinion are super accurate really reliable great guns! But ya CZ more expensive but quality and the feel of the rifles are just amazing!
I was interested in the Savage A22 WMR until I found the Savage A22 in the Long Rifle (LR) version goes for $233, vice the WMR version for $371. They've really jacked up the price for a very little difference in manufacturing cost.
The bolt assembly is more complicated in the 22WMR compared to the straight blow back bolt of the 22 LR. How much that really adds to the manufacturing process, I really don't know.
100 yards test needed. 25 yards is for handguns. Also, You should test the higher end A22 vs the CZ. The A22 varmint pro has a much better stock than the one you used. And, they would be more equal in price as well. Apples to Apples IMO.
25 yards? ? Completely pointless review! kinda of results are you really gonna get at 25 yards with any kinda rifle other then something with Red Rider on the side of it?!! And winchester dyna point has been proven not to be reliable as it is!
25 yards revealed a difference between these two rifles. This was a comparison not intended to be an absolute measure of accuracy but a relative measure of accuracy, and in fact a difference was identified at this range. Why do you think the parallax of rimfire scopes is set at 50 yards. Rimfire rifles are for close work. More power to you if you take squirrels at 150 yards, but the point of this review was to see if there is a measurable difference in accuracy and reliability of these two rifles. 25 yards was adequate to show this. The Winchester Dynapoint ammo proved to be a tool to show a difference in reliability and ammo sensitivity between these two rifles. The whole point of this review was to define differences, objectively, between the CZ 512 and Savage A22.
Michael Bell I will start by saying I disagree with real world truth and experience! First you are implying all rimfire calibers are equal and I know they are definitely not. And you are implying that you know that manufacturers of these cartridges designing them around a 50 yard shot which they weren't. Not only will one of my 17 wsm, 17 hmr shoot Very accuratly well beyond 100-200 yards. The 22wm you are comparing is very capable of the same. I have several 22lr's that are easily capable accurate shooting at 100 yards. And in terms of accuracy theres definitely going to be a deference no matter what caliber in a 25yd shot versus a 100yd shot naturally.! However that doesn't mean that one rifle or brand of ammunition, or weight of bullet won't actually shoot better at 100 yds then it did at 25yds. Just like when I have shoot 22lr compilation with target grade ammunition that shot horrible at 50 yards and excellent at 100! There's know possible way to know which is better and make that statement with any kind of honest until it's tested and proven! So until you do a complete test your knowledge of which is better, with better with brand X of ammo in a certain grain of bullet then your review is based on nothing more then a biased opinion and NOT FACTS!
Maybe I should have tested these rounds at 100 yards then. My fault. But I try to objectively report on the results. I have no bias. I may have set up my test wrong.
Michael Bell I wouldn't say it was done wrong at all, but just somewhat incomplete and maybe needing to be a 2 part review. I own the 512 and while it's a great gun it won't out shoot my A22 in terms of accuracy! The 512 has had a couple failures to ejects but it was also new and could have been partially the ammunition! As you know most guns need a little break in time and semi-autos can sometimes require even a little more break-in with having more working parts to polish. And as you know guns are all different and your 512 may possibly shoot a little tighter at 25 and even could at 100 possibly. But never know until you try it! Thanks for the review and taking the time to go over both rifles and their features! Both are great guns!
Nice video. I'll take the BRNO, though. I noticed the CZ's bolt did not lock open after the final round. Does the Savage have a hold-open feature? Both are basically lights-out, at least at that range. The 45 gr. Winchester is only a coated copper bullet, as other .22 ammo is. Probably not a good choice for any 22WMR rifle.
The cz definitely has the reputation for accuracy. Same for savage but slightly less than cz. That said, I would much prefer a flush magazine and wonder if the savage with a Boyd's stock (which is what savage uses) would have better accuracy?
Its funny that your forward scope mount migrated forward almost off the mount rail and in another review here on TH-cam of the same 512 CZ WRM rifle his mount did the same thing on that rifle as well with no accuracy problems with that one to.
Thanks for watching. The CZ is very nice. I have a BRNO 611 I need to do a video review of. If you have time please check out my channel. Thanks again.
I just bought The Savage A22 magnum. Now I read all these bad feed issues. What brand and type of ammo are you using. It is hard to find A22 ammo. Will CCI maxi mags work? CCI TNT mags? What works?
the term they use for the style of stock you have on your BRNO is called a "Hogback". Great review Sir, I have a 512 in 22lr which I absolutely love. The only thing I think could be improved on it is the trigger. I wish someone would make a aftermarket trigger for the 512 platform of rifles.
Great review! But It's much better to rest the rifles on a led sled to erase the human factor also it's nice to chrony your shots at 10 rds. each at 50 to 75 yds!
Michael, Good review. I owned an A17 and got rid of it for several reasons - horrible trigger, horrible magazine and overall poor accuracy. I would take a CZ any day and twice on Sunday's over the A22/A17. Watching you shoot off of that narrow bench was painful for me. You should find some way to broaden it so that you can rest your arms on the bench. I would assume that your accuracy would improve noticeably. Also, shooting a 22mag at 25 yards tells me very little about accuracy. Between the distance and the narrow bench, I do not feel that I can rely much on your accuracy evaluation. That said, I would assume that the CZ would be more accurate than the Savage at any distance. You did not mention in this review that the CZ also comes with a 25 round magazine. The A22 also has a 25 round magazine available. The CZ magazines also fit their 455 model bolt rifles so if someone has both, they could swap magazines. From personal experience, in the field use of the the CZ magazine is far more easy to load and insert into the magazine well than was my A17. I would be interested in finding out if you have gotten more information on the durability of the CZ lower as it looks like a point of wear. Thanks for the review. Burt
I am planning to go out tomorrow and repeat the accuracy evaluation. I moved my heavy table to access a 100 yard shot. I'll take the best and worst performing ammo for each rifle and shoot all 4 rounds from each rifle. 10 shot groups at 100 yards. I am also going to shoot the Magnum Research and the Kel Tec CMR30 since I have everything set up. Might as well see how all 4 rifles compare.
Thanks for watching. Please take some time and explore my channel. The mortality rate for COVID 19 is very low but the long incubation period is a real problem for containment. Just be very careful around folks that have been in one of the known areas of infection.
Thanks for so nice review. Could you write your final opinion about differences please ? Im really bad speaking English and I dont unterstand some things at the end. Thanks!
thanks for the reply. I value the reliability of the weapon and the proper functioning. I want to shoot with a viewfinder. I would like the bolt to remain open after the last shot but I think neither of the two weapons does. Aesthetically I think I like cz better because of the more classic style.
50 Yards is a good starting point for testing. Flaws show up very quick. 25 yards is more for making sure you have everything set up. Is The ammo Copper Jacket?
Detailed and very helpful review. My issue with the Savage is, you have no iron sights, you must use an optic, yet, to access the takedown screw to take it apart to clean it (and rimfires are very dirty guns) you have to remove the scope, losing zero. Every time you clean it, you have to rezero it. WTF? CZ is a big winner here.
I don't have to remove my scope to take it apart enough to clean, and as he pointed out in most cases you can't get low enough to use the iron sights on the newer guns anyway, so find an old one if you want to use iron sights, I have several of each
If I was in the store choosing it would be the cz. It has wooden stock and forearm. But the plastic lower kinda shoots it in butt. If no one has noticed I have a problem with plastic guns.
What height scope rings that are used in the video, and did they come with the scope or did you buy them separate ? Scope looks to be a 3-9x32 Simmons .22 mag , am I correct ?
i dont know if you noticed or not but the scope on the cz 512 nearly slipped off. the scope clearly migrated ahead. How can this rifle still group rounds with scope movement.
I noticed the migration when I got back to the shop. I took this rifle out the next week with 3 others to check groups at 100 yards per recommendation of several viewers. th-cam.com/video/m2w7GMIjsOI/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for replying no I didn't clean it first, I was at a range very loud I don't remember feeling the hammer fall but on a couple of the rounds that didn't fire I pulled the trigger two or three times and the round went off like a hang fire, I didn't really examine the rounds that didn't fire just a quick look, to be honest it felt like it wasn't cycling hard enough when I would manually eject the rounds and charge a new one it fired but after the next round that would cycled by the action of the gun it wouldn't fire then I'd repeat and it worked it felt like the blowback wasn't strong enough to set the hammer or seat the round
I agree with your assessment so far. Probably short stroking. So not enough power or too much resistance. I would bet too much resistance since this ammo has worked well for me. Start with breaking the rifle down and giving it a very good cleaning and then lube up and try again. Next time out pay very close attention to exactly what's happening if the failures continue. Let me know how it works out.
Thank you I'll try a good cleaning and I have some different ammo I'm going to try as well I have Savage bolt action 17HMR that functions flawlessly with the A17 ammo on my 17HMR I have a Bushnell A17 scope any recommendations for an optic for A22 as I didn't particularly care for the Simmons 22mag scope I put on the A22
No excuse to have a 5 lb gritty trigger on a rifle today.....it costs no more to make a good trigger. Odd because my CZ bolt guns all have very nice triggers. I wonder if there are any aftermarket trigger parts available?
@@MichaelBellmbell556 Right now I'm having a difficult time locating a 512 American model (walnut stock, no sights). After I get that worked out I'll go to work on the trigger. I was able to get a real nice aftermarket trigger for my 452, but it came with such a good trigger I never bothered to install it.....always something on the to-do list.
I have several Savage rifles, most in 22LR or 22 WMR. I do not have a .17. Let me see if my LGS, PKAT Arms, has one and I might be able to get my hands on it for a little T&E.
There is no way that anyone else can make a decision on the accuracy of the two rifles except you the shooter. I noticed that on several of your 10 round runs that you always shoot right of target and when there is what you call a flier it is almost always two rounds off and low. What I gather from this that is the way YOU shoot. And if the rifles were zeroed you should have shown us that the rifles were placed in a shooting vise and every shot should have been in the absolute bullseye of the target. It shows accuracy of the spread of a penny when in fact both of these rifles should be shooting in a dime at 25 yds. 25 yards!! Ok that means that something else was wrong if you are not putting them in the bullseye. These look to be maybe what 40 objective lens, or what? Either way you are shooting a target at a minimal 25 yds and with a scope that would be bringing your target to you so that it looks like it is 10 ft away-come on man, you can't be calling out better or worse on either of these rifles.
@@MichaelBellmbell556 Look the review wasn't a total flop and I did glean a little something from the video. Your review was just as good as any of the rest of the people that put out reviews on the internet because it was 'different' to say the least. The biggest flaw I saw in the testing was the fact that you used the standard range for competition shooting for handguns which is 25 yards. Since most rimfire scopes are designed for zero at 50 yards I think that is where you should have placed the target. 100 yards is probably not suitable because it is actually considered a long range shot for a rimfire rifle. But then again, you are the one doing this video not Joe Blow that has to find the glass that is halfway empty instead of the glass that is halfway full. Sorry if I seemed a little abrupt in my comments but then again that is just my nature. I'm sure I could make a friend out of you if I got to know you a little better-a TH-cam video is hardly the place to start. Keep on making videos, evidently you made an impact whether anybody knows it or not.
@@MichaelBellmbell556 My first Remington 66 I paid $35 for $200 for one of the last ones, now some are getting $400. they all shoot almost anything I feed them, and group almost as good as my A22 lr with the bull barrel
Most .22 mag SA's had functioning problems (H&K, Ruger 22 Mag, H&R) and were dropped from the market. The main reason was the peak burning rates on almost all 22 mag ammo did not match the SA action. Didn't give it enough time to clear the empty case before a new cartridge tried to chamber. Savage had big problems and called CCI. CCI lowered the high peak burning rate to a slower, more spread out rate and they had a good firing gun. I use only A22 ammo in my Remington 597 and it finally stopped jamming. All the other stuff goes in my bolt guns or Single Six.
I did the 25 yards for convenience. Firing this many different rounds at 100 yards would have been a more effective test but I am alone and time constraints made it more doable at 25 yards. Next time I test rimfire it will be at 50 yards. I can set that distance up fairly easily from my shed where I am doing most of my shooting. I have a 100 yard range but not from the shed. I need to go ahead ant set up a 100 yard lane and berm from the shed. Once again just a matter of time and money. This is my private property so I just have to do the work or pay for it. I can do a narrow lane and berm thru the pine trees. This would be good because they would mitigate wind influences on any future test. OK, project for this winter. :o)
Well, I just wanted to show relative results between the 2 rifles. And it was easier and faster to do it at 25 yards. But your point is well taken. Here is the follow up review at 100 yards. th-cam.com/video/m2w7GMIjsOI/w-d-xo.html Please check out our channel if you get a chance. Thanks.
Recently bought a CZ 512 a Jan/2018 year production. I did a four pull trigger test with my Wheeler trigger pull scale, mine was 3 pound average, no lie.
No, it's not discontinued. They aren't making a 17hmr version, due to a need to further delay the rearward movement of the bolt to eliminate ruptured cases. A heavy bolt is all that's needed with the 22wmr. The 17hmr needs a kind of delayed blowback.
@@calangel thats good news , i have one in 22 mag and its a tackdriver with the 30gn hornady rd and very good with either the win or cci 40gn i would be on the bus for one in 17 hmr
You should be comparing the CZ to a much higher priced gun, not a much lower priced gun as the A22 is. You should be doing a competition with the Browning T-Bolt or something higher priced and more quality as the CZ is. When you can buy 3 or 4 A22 for the price of 1 CZ. But the A22 stood it's ground and shows that a cheaper gun with great quality can shoot as well as a more expensive gun. This proves that to everyone, thanks, 👍.
Pick 5 different loads that I checked in the Savage that you are most interested in seeing and I'll chrono 5 rounds of each of those 5 tomorrow or Friday when I go out to finish my ECHO trigger review.
Yes, I have a bench top vise I have used in other test. Since I had used the sand bag in the earlier test I stuck with that throughout this series of test. I think in the future I'll use the vise anytime I look at accuracy. Thanks.
This is great! This is everything I want to see in a side by side comparison video. I am curious to see the results at 100yds I’ll be sure to watch that one next. Great job!

Need to test at 100 yds with the 22 Mag rifle. 25 yards is more like 22 LR (pistol) accuracy test range.
Did it. Check out my channel if you get a chance.
22mag is more a 70 yard 1 moa the trajectory is like a rainbow 🌈

25 yards?
Michael Bell
I will start by saying I disagree with real world truth and experience!
I'll always try to do things better. Thanks for your input.
Michael Bell
I wouldn't say it was done wrong at all, but just somewhat incomplete and maybe needing to be a 2 part review.
Mr Bell, what was the accuracy like with the CZ and the Remington ammo?
Here is what I tested at 100 yards...th-cam.com/video/m2w7GMIjsOI/w-d-xo.html
Nice video. I'll take the BRNO, though.
I noticed the CZ's bolt did not lock open after the final round. Does the Savage have a hold-open feature?
Both are basically lights-out, at least at that range. The 45 gr. Winchester is only a coated copper bullet, as other
.22 ammo is. Probably not a good choice for any 22WMR rifle.
No, neither of these rifles lock the bolt back on an empty magazine. Thanks for watching and please check out my channel if you get a chance.
Yes, I have got a Cz512 it is nice and reliable for and ammunition is also circle as like u shown in youtube.
I handled the CZ At The gun store and found it hard to get my cheek down on the stock to look down the sights. Would be no problem with a scope
The cz definitely has the reputation for accuracy. Same for savage but slightly less than cz. That said, I would much prefer a flush magazine and wonder if the savage with a Boyd's stock (which is what savage uses) would have better accuracy?
Very nice review Michael, also like to see a 100 yd. test,,,with both weapons
Your wish is my command....th-cam.com/video/m2w7GMIjsOI/w-d-xo.html
Its funny that your forward scope mount migrated forward almost off the mount rail and in another review here on TH-cam of the same 512 CZ WRM rifle his mount did the same thing on that rifle as well with no accuracy problems with that one to.
Cheap scopes and rings. I need to get better ones for tests.
Thanks for the info i jus got my cz in its perfect
Thanks for watching. The CZ is very nice. I have a BRNO 611 I need to do a video review of. If you have time please check out my channel. Thanks again.
Where on earth did you find it? They've been sold out online forever
Thanks for your review
Thanks for watching!
I just bought The Savage A22 magnum. Now I read all these bad feed issues. What brand and type of ammo are you using. It is hard to find A22 ammo. Will CCI maxi mags work? CCI TNT mags? What works?
Great comparison, Do come up with comparison of CZ 512 vs Ruger 10/22
I need a CZ 512 in 22LR.
the term they use for the style of stock you have on your BRNO is called a "Hogback". Great review Sir, I have a 512 in 22lr which I absolutely love. The only thing I think could be improved on it is the trigger. I wish someone would make a aftermarket trigger for the 512 platform of rifles.
Thanks.
you should look on Rimfire Central for easy trigger jobs for the 512. I spent a couple of dollars for Ace #144 springs to install on my 452 and 455.
I'm not going to mess with my trigger on my CZ 512, new out of the box it's has a 3 pound trigger pull and has not even been shot yet.
Great review! But It's much better to rest the rifles on a led sled to erase the human factor also it's nice to chrony your shots at 10 rds. each at 50 to 75 yds!
Just needs a pad under the stock in back, squeeze with hand for elevation.
Yes, "interesting & useful" and very thorough. Thank you.
Thanks.
Looking forward to your review.
My A22, with Hornady 45 grain ammo, is deadly accurate out to 200.
I found the test parameters questionable.at best.
I'm with others..thank you ..great review
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video , I’d like to see more .
Check out my channel for more. I take these two and two more 22WMR rifles and compare at 100 yards. Thanks for watching.
Very good gun show I really like the CZ 512.
Thanks! Yes, the CZ is very nice.
it looks like the front scope ring on the CZ worked its way just about off the dovetail?
Yep
Thanks Michael, were you able to stop that from happening since?
@@bsmith8297 Yes, just not paying attention at the time.
Just found your channel. Great review! Stay safe with the covid19 pandemic thats here.
Thanks for watching. Please take some time and explore my channel. The mortality rate for COVID 19 is very low but the long incubation period is a real problem for containment. Just be very careful around folks that have been in one of the known areas of infection.
Michael Bell the WHO reported today that is was 3.2 % death rate, thats 30 times as lethal as the flu.
@@johnboyf-15vet51 That is worldwide. In the US less than 1%. Be careful and be safe. Usually fatal in patients with significant co-morbidities.
Do they make CZ 512 for left handers?
Why would anyone test for group size at 25 yards? 75 or 100 yards is more like it.
That is on my channel with 4 different 22 WMR rifles. 100 yds.
Fairly exhaustive review of the two rifles, and a well put together video. Would be interesting to see how the CZ 512 22lr compares to 10/22
I'll see if any of my friends locally have the CZ in 22lr. I have plenty of 10/22s.
and a Savage A22 in lr
Is that front scope mount even on the CZ at the end of the video description? lol Were you shooting the groups like that???
I did a 100 yard follow up with the scope secure....LOL
Thanks for so nice review. Could you write your final opinion about differences please ? Im really bad speaking English and I dont unterstand some things at the end. Thanks!
It is a personal preference. which features appeal to you the most.
thanks for the reply. I value the reliability of the weapon and the proper functioning. I want to shoot with a viewfinder. I would like the bolt to remain open after the last shot but I think neither of the two weapons does. Aesthetically I think I like cz better because of the more classic style.
I lie the looks of the CZ better too.
50 Yards is a good starting point for testing. Flaws show up very quick. 25 yards is more for making sure you have everything set up. Is The ammo Copper Jacket?
Check out the 100 yd test with 4 rifles and multiple types of ammo.
Good points to consider. Thanks for watching!
The CZ does feel more like quality because of the stock
Great video
Thanks!
You need to rebuild your shooting bench for accuracy testing so you elbows and arms are supported, and you are sitting straight up.
Yes, this is just a heavy table, I need to make a shooting bench. It is on the to do list.
What height scope rings that are used in the video, and did they come with the scope or did you buy them separate ? Scope looks to be a 3-9x32 Simmons .22 mag , am I correct ?
They are just cheap Medium height $20 rings from Walmart. The scope is a Simmons 22 Mag 3-9.
Thank you .
i dont know if you noticed or not but the scope on the cz 512 nearly slipped off. the scope clearly migrated ahead. How can this rifle still group rounds with scope movement.
I noticed the migration when I got back to the shop. I took this rifle out the next week with 3 others to check groups at 100 yards per recommendation of several viewers. th-cam.com/video/m2w7GMIjsOI/w-d-xo.html
Good eye.
Thank you I'll try a good cleaning and I have some different ammo I'm going to try as well I have Savage bolt action 17HMR that functions flawlessly with the A17 ammo on my 17HMR I have a Bushnell A17 scope any recommendations for an optic for A22 as I didn't particularly care for the Simmons 22mag scope I put on the A22
It's surprising no remington 597 or H&R magnums for a comparison test from supposedly the best !
No excuse to have a 5 lb gritty trigger on a rifle today.....it costs no more to make a good trigger. Odd because my CZ bolt guns all have very nice triggers. I wonder if there are any aftermarket trigger parts available?
I have not run across any. Let us know if you find any.
@@MichaelBellmbell556 Right now I'm having a difficult time locating a 512 American model (walnut stock, no sights). After I get that worked out I'll go to work on the trigger. I was able to get a real nice aftermarket trigger for my 452, but it came with such a good trigger I never bothered to install it.....always something on the to-do list.
the scope on the cz is walking forward
Yes, I caught that later as well.
Nice catch
I suggest a review of the savage Bmag .17WSM if you have not already done so.
Just showing my results/experience. I am not a target shooter. I am more into the mechanics and function of firearms.
Thanks for your input. I agree about the range for rimfires. In the future 50 yards will be my standard test distance.
What scope are you using on the a22
Simons 22mag
I have a rossi pump .22wmr and it shoots best with armscore ammunition. best group size and velocity.
Thanks for the info and thanks for watching.
I'll keep my old Marlin bolt action and put it up against either for accuracy,...and I only paid $100 for it years ago.
Those were the days. Also $99 SKSs at the dime store.
@@MichaelBellmbell556 My first Remington 66 I paid $35 for $200 for one of the last ones, now some are getting $400. they all shoot almost anything I feed them, and group almost as good as my A22 lr with the bull barrel

Great review!
Thanks
wondering what came out first...CCIs A22 ammo or the Savage A22 rifle?
I think they released them at about the same time. CCI and Savage owned by same parent company, I think.
what came first the chicken or the egg ?
Was there a reason we didn't see you shoot the A22? Maybe you rested the barrel on the rest?
I did shoot the A22 . It is on my channel. There is a series looking at 22 WMR rifles.
It would be more interesting to test 22lr/22wm at 50-100 meters 😉
Michael Bell thanks. even 50m. would be much better! Good luck and Happy New year 😉
I can set up 50m from the shed fairly easily. I'll work on that.
Happy New Year !!
Thank you for the field test. Gotta ask...25 yards with a scoped rifle? Why? This begs for 100 yards. Should be able to make 2-3" groups.
Well, I just wanted to show relative results between the 2 rifles. And it was easier and faster to do it at 25 yards. But your point is well taken. Here is the follow up review at 100 yards.

No.

Is your barrel resting on the pillow or bag
Just the stock.
has the cz512 american been discontinued/ also are there any plans to make the cz512 in 17 hmr
No, it's not discontinued. They aren't making a 17hmr version, due to a need to further delay the rearward movement of the bolt to eliminate ruptured cases. A heavy bolt is all that's needed with the 22wmr. The 17hmr needs a kind of delayed blowback.

no video with the savage?
Yes a shop review and field test on my channel.
This proves that to everyone, thanks, 👍.
to be fair you should have at least brushed the inside of the barrel before changing ammo. for acc.
Point taken
Great review, but I wish you had chronoed the rds to see if there was a ballistic difference between rifles.
Pick 5 different loads that I checked in the Savage that you are most interested in seeing and I'll chrono 5 rounds of each of those 5 tomorrow or Friday when I go out to finish my ECHO trigger review.
Have you ever heard of a lead sled? They are great for zeroing all rifles, much more steady.
Yes, I have a bench top vise I have used in other test. Since I had used the sand bag in the earlier test I stuck with that throughout this series of test. I think in the future I'll use the vise anytime I look at accuracy. Thanks.
