I feel like Poppy Playtime has had the most drastic decrease in its speedrun times in 3-4 months out of any game I've ever seen, it's actually crazy

Honestly the game is kind of designed to be speedrunned. Even all the bugs seem like they were especially made to be used by speedrunners.
Knowing the company that made the game, putting in actual glitches to bring more attention doesn't sound too far from them
@@itemboy6814 The green hand thing is suspicious, but I'd say the no collision wall really was an accident, as well as the strats used for chapter 2 are too weird to have been planned by the devs.

@@ExtrnalSorce2 the chapter wasn’t as broken as I thought itd be, I think that if it does come out it will not be even close to how bad security breach was (and even if it is, the community will still find ways to break It even more)

It took years for Super Mario Bros. speedrunners to be like "yeah this is probably the lowest we'll get." It only took a few months for Poppy Playtime.
To be fair, they are wildly different to speedrun. If you could just noclip to the ending of SMB from the first level it'd be a fair bit simpler 💀
I mean smb is a well made game by a big company that puts care into avoiding glitches and poppy playtime is........ poppy playtime

@@Luis-fd2bi Y'all, that's not how speedrunning works. They are such fundamentally different games. There are some shitty churned out games that are hard to speedrun this fast because it's about game structure, not quality. Yes, the wall being enterable is indicative of development issues but preventing clips and exploits like this in a 3D game where you can jump, fling and pull yourself around is way more complicated than in a simple level-by-level 2D platformer.

What David was showing on the Tyrannosaurus is called the “Pubis”.
The long, forward facing pubis is found exclusively in birds and Theropod dinosaurs, Including Tyrannosaurus.

question! Does the train have collision before it's loaded? If not, is it possible (Even if not HUMANLY possible) to pause the room while located inside the train to force it to load, saving time by allowing you to put in the code while your legs are broken without needing to walk to the train and open the door?

Bro I love speed running so much, it’s so cool to watch the meta evolve over time and it’s just wonderful to have so many people come together to compete against one another and yet help one another to just go fast. Who doesn’t like going fast.

as someone who fell into a cactus patch when they were 7 and had their bike fall on top them shortly afterwards, i physically winced at the idea of someone holding a cactus in their mouth. you at least held it by your teeth but still. those were some bad memories.
if your curious, it was a patch of Opuntia aka Prickly Pear cactus that had long spines. not pleasant. i was kinda sick afterwards.

🤝, on the other hand, I feel this category is already looking very optimized with a high 3:08 around the corner with the current strats. Huge huge GL to anyone going for top times and even WR's as this category looks horrid to play and route for a faster time. I think the bounty of a sub 3 min time would need a lot of labin out as the current strats have the player basically go from point A to B in a straight line.

Clarification: You only have to pay money to Guinness to create an entirely new record. If you simply want to break an existing record, you can don't have to pay. You can pay to expedite the processing though and that's the really expensive one.

As someone who hasn't played the game or ever attempted speedrunning, i wonder if you could jump into whatever triggers the end of the game
What about if you could load the train station with being in the correct position to be inside the train when it loads, does the game have a counter measure for being in the train when the hand hasnt unlocked it?
of course I know this is too precise, but this is more theoretically speaking

The void jump mechanism reminds me of fishing in Stardew Valley. You gotta give it a bunch to get it up there and then it just fucking goes to the limit on its own.

Poppy playtime C2 speedrun after a couple of months: less then a minute
As someone else mentioned, launching directly inside of the train, whilst not easy in the slightest, seems like the most viable option? Which, if that's possible, I wonder if skipping getting the green hand could save any time as well? Beyond that, the only thing I can possibly think of is if there's some way of triggering the ending without touching the train at all, but that doesn't seem possible.

This is super reminiscent of the Proxy done at the start of Jak 3 runs except for this the launch is basically the entire run
every time Spiff plays this game it breaks even more, and it's great
So i'm not sure how the play interacts with the game with deloaded area's, but one of the clips from a current record seemed to pause much later while nearly, if not in the station.
So a couple questions.
1) If you launch to the station before letting the area load, does that break something? (Death barrier, excessive lag ect)
2) When things are deloaded, do they still have collision?
Cuz if you can launch into the darkness without fear of collision on invisible walls, it would theoretically be possible to pause and reload while the player is in the train already, skipping the green hand door wait time + walking time. Could cut down time by a good number of seconds if possible

Hey spiff, idea. What if instead of launching to the train you launch to the credits loading zone? At the end of the train ride there’s gotta be a point in which the credits will load. If you can hit that point, perhaps it’ll take you right to it?
that point is after you pull the brakes, since the game loops you in the same spot after the brake sequence starts
