This guy is not a troll. There is no joke on someone else, the joke is on him for being an awful cheater (more "AHA! I was only *PRETENDING* to be retarded!" then anything else). If this guy is claiming to be a troll, he's either a) trying to backpedal HARD or b) stupid. Or c) a kid, which seems far more likely imo.
Afaik this is the first time someones tried to fake a "warp to the end" glitch. My theory is that it's a kid trying to look cool but not understanding how easily shit like this can be checked.

This maybe seems fake to you but through the run I heard he had some pizza and coke besides him. Somehow these two things combined give every speedrunner a very big advantage so it has to be real!
I heard that he were blindfolded as well.

I don’t watch any speed running videos but i randomly watched poppy woppy’s speed run and i don’t have any knowledge of speed runs but he made it so hilariously obvious that he was splicing i laughed and laughed at his “protagonist at the corner” “glitch” and everything else. Man if you’re gonna fake something at least make it look BELIEVABLE.

This... this speedrun has to be a joke, right? There's no way it's not satirical or making fun of fake speedrunners.
Even if it is, I find it very irresponsible to insist on it being real (by the author). If ever he says that excuse to justify cheating, it doesn't repair the damage such a video can do on the community.

The fact this person didn't even splice correctly is sad. They had on motion blur and low frames which would be optimal for splicing but they look at a dot that they misalign
Check the shadow in that clip, too.

And the battery on the floor I think its probably just the result of a glitch...

I just checked the channel and the creator certainly did this just to get base subs and views for the content he actually intended on making.
We say he's a fake speedrunner but the man literally speedran his channel growth.

The "speedrunner" in the video tried to do a "Center-On-Cell Warp" (COC warp) that is most common in Bethesda games. A lot of game developers do this to stop the player from falling indefinitely. If the player goes out of bounds and they fall for a while, they will be teleported to the COC.
As to why they tried to pass it off on Poppy Playtime is beyond me.

“The lag had no affect on the speedrun” that’s the first red flag. I’m new to speedrunning as a concept/community but I’ve seen enough bismuth analysis videos to know that reducing lag is pretty important for some runs (mostly a mario 64 TAS)

I knew that 4 minute speedrun was fishy. Weird cuts and mistakes were all over the place when I watched it, and it just didn't look right.
I'm really not surprised that it was fake, and I'm glad that you called him out!
Fun fact, I saw a comment in that video where someone pointed out every mistake, and Poppy Woppy deleted the comment!

I discovered a glitch where if you sit at the main menu for 14 hours, 5 minutes and 8 seconds, and not one second longer or shorter, you spawn at the credits. And since the timer does not start until you hit start, this gives you a 0 second world record!

You know I think it’s ‘fair’ that he started the timer a little late cuz I think how slow he did the buttons made up for those 2 seconds 😭

I find it intriguing how there seems to be a certain level of hostility in this comment section about making this video when a lot of videos about exposing cheating speedrunners seem to get a good reception. Charliebrown64's video exposing that fake blindfold run sits at about 14 million views now over a guy nobody knew existed and the feedback is generally overall positive, although of course not to say that everyone agrees. Just funny how this seems to be getting more backlash for doing the exact same thing. Having said that, your retorts to said backlash are pretty lighthearted and humourous in the way I feel they should be, so at least you win the maturity badge for brushing them off like that. Back on track though, I think you're a charismatic presenter and this video was equally as entertaining as some more well-known channels out there who do the same content, so kudos to you for that. Can see you getting big if you keep doing your thing, so keep at it!

Just to clarify, I made this comment before Astral blew up and had about 1.5k subs. This vid had like 20k views or something to that degree and a lot of people at the time were giving him grief for making videos on cheaters, saying that it gives them exposure they want even though a load of other creators do it. Hostility may have been a strong word, perhaps, but these people were certainly not welcoming and being the small channel he was at the time, it didn't feel right, so I made the comment, which I forgot I had. I'm happy to see it's no longer relevant since all the negative comments seem to have been swept under the carpet and he's now doing well for himself. Good for him.
@@ellioth8917 I think the reason for the "hostility" is that it seems pretty obvious Poppy Woppy is doing all this on purpose for attention, therefore Astral is simply playing right into his hands. Usually when people make videos exposing cheaters, they're actual cheaters who are already famous in the community, and are genuinely trying to trick people (and often succeed for many years), and are doing it for the prestige of "winning" rather than channel growth, thus the exposure videos gain them nothing worthwhile.
One of the ways to check for cheated runs is to get the video and throw it into audacity and check. I think the spectra graph to see if there is ANY changes in the audio.
Not only does the dot move but the entire lighting as well just randomly jumps to the side! The dot and lighting must be super scared of that corner

5:41 As someone who has tried doing a cut like this in a minecraft video, it is very difficult to line up the cursor at the same point while also trying to go to the same position. The position in this case doesn't matter since they walked into a corner, but lining the cursor up perfectly is still an issue. If it wasn't for the audio cut and the shading changing on the left side, I would've just assumed there was a lag spike while moving. I'm kinda impressed that they managed to get the cursor so close. Not excusing them since cheating is wrong, just a bit impressed with how close the cursor was.

Found a faster glitch where if you hold the power button on your computer for around 5 seconds, you immediately skip to the end room and just need to open the box. But you need to do it within a frame of you entering the game.

Better trick- head outside and shoot the power box on your house. Instantly takes you out of the game. Since you can't play any further, that clearly means you've beaten it. I managed to get a 4.20 with this method!

poppy woppy has set up some bots that stream his old videos every hour, i guess desperate to draw in even a couple views a day.
most of his nonstream content is still fake speedruns and fake "secrets and easter eggs found" vids in mascot horror games, and he has taken an interest in creating fake episodes of the skibidi toilet series.
I really like the concept of testing how good we are at detecting cheats by cheating and seeing if it gets detected. Like legal cheating for the sake of making real cheaters suffer trying to actually cheat. Like bug finders or TAS players but for cheat detection testing.
this is a beautiful speedrunning video and I enjoyed it myself. Keep doing what your doing!

I feel like the splices are _very_ obvious even for someone who watched around four videos related to speedrunning. Like me. Then again, I am a very nitpicky person that points out even insignificant minor errors in all kinds of media, so maybe the ability to tell just depends on the person.
It would be incorrect anyways, the last game I saw that teleported you when you fell down out of bounds was fallout new vegas and fallout 3 (also 76), those reload your character at the center of the cell or the position you were in just above the ground, but sure as hell they did not conveniently haul you 3/4 ahead in the game

I've done my fair share of video editing from my time as an anonymous content developer (and watching speedruns from the GDQ archives), and it's pretty easy to tell splices and minor edits. Seeing those is enough to make my judgment. Glad to have your channel around to clarify and expose these things to people.

Another easy way to check for splices is to ask anyone you know who does Video Editing to check for cuts. If they've been editing for enough time, they should be able to see/hear a cut almost immediately

I’m not a speedrunner, I’ve only speedran Hollow Knight and attempted an Ori and the Blind Forest one (Those were only for the achievements too) but even I could notice its a fake speedrun.

The part of the boxes. You can clearly see when the runner enters the room and picking up the first battery, that the boxes are in their start default stage. And when the runner "resumes" his run, you can see them as a mess. Im not a speedrunner or know too much of editing the videos together (Not sure how you write that word) But I clearly see that there is some messy things going on with the run
It's actually sad that a channel which is aparentlly dedicated to Poppy's Playtime who would've known most of the glitches, cheated like this and badly too
