    Hey there! I stumbled on your TH-cam channel while looking for blender tutorial videos. I am a beginner and have been trying to learn blender for the past few weeks. I have been taking journals worth of notes so far, however I’m not sure if taking notes on tutorial videos as recommended or not. Currently I’m writing down almost everything said in a tutorial video and aren’t sure it’s the best way of learning or if it’s a waste of time taking notes. How did you learn blender and did you ever use notes? Should I only take notes on hot keys? Would love to get a response back on your insight! 🙂

    • @RyanKingArt
      @RyanKingArt  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When I was first learning Blender, I wrote down the most common shortcut keys that I used, to help me remember them. But I'm a very visual learner, so I personally don't find taking notes very helpful for me. Also, after I memorized the shortcut keys, I stopped referring to the notes. And I definitely recommend trying to memorize the shortcut keys as soon as you can, because it will speed up your workflow. Hope this helps!

    It really sucks you need high poly for the displacement to work, I thought the whole point of displacement maps was to get detail while _avoiding_ high poly meshes

  • @RichardLederer-g3v
    @RichardLederer-g3v หลายเดือนก่อน

    Thanks, that was helpful. However, I had a problem that wasn't mentioned in the video. I minimized the z-axis of a cube to make it a plate, and then applied displacement. The displacement only affected the x and y, not the z-axis. The problem was that I forgot to call Object / Apply / Scale

    I would like to see something like this with normal baking too. I have times when the normal bake is really broken, though at least unity can fix some of that internally.
    I know some of it can be fixed by turning on backface culling, sometimes there is overlapping geometry or UVs, sometimes it's the RGB/non-color thing, but even with all that, sometimes I still get oddities, like weird colors, or the actual geometry being baked into the texture. So, I was hoping you might know things I missed.

      @@RyanKingArt One of the issues I notice a lot is when I use a wave texture to make grooves or raised lines, many of the lines will be broken, off color, and more. Higher resolutions can help there, but not enough.

    Idk what is going on. I have double triple quadruple checked and I have everything set the same. I know how shaders work and I extensively use them in unreal engine for years so I can't figure out what is happening. It won't work nothing ever changes. There are plenty of vertices, the height map is connected to the displacement node which is connected to the displacement output in the material. I'm in cycles and still nothing.
