A friend and myself painted the Mrs. Geico boat a few times. We saw this bike while down in Florida at the boating facility, buffing and putting the final touches on the boat. Craig: it doesn't have to go to a starter shop to switch that button. That five-sided section is literally the starter solenoid. All that button does is push directly on the solenoid plunger, bypassing the electromagnet that would usually thrust it forward. Stick the output shaft into a hole in your bench or simply open the jaws on a bench vise, letting the shaft extend while supporting the starter with that cover pointing straight up. That part is important until you know how those things Nippon Denso starters are built. Keeping it cap-up prevents you from loosing a ball bearing and one (possibly two) springs. Remove the screws from the corner of the cap, holding slight pressure to the cap (spring, remember?). Lift the cap and remove. Install the new cap. This is literally a three-minute panel swap. While you have the starter solenoid open, inspect the two contacts (the two weird-shaped copper contacts) for pitting and scarring; polish if necessary) and the contact disk mounted around the plunger (again, polish if necessary). The only failures for Nippon Denso starters are these contacts and eventually wearing out the brushes. Things are immortal. Craig can do wonders but Sean had THE guy within the first 10 minutes of the bike being delivered to his facilities and said nope.
Considering the bike doesn’t run and never had ran the guy who built it may not be the best choice now would he ? He basically pooped his pants and you wanna feed him more ice cream
@@earljohnson2676 Except it did run and the guy even showed Sean videos of him riding it. He was literally one of the only people who ever rode it. Then it sat for years. The bike went to the guy to actually get it running. Not sure why people are commenting when they clearly don't even know the backstory.
That starter button is a simple install, I have one on my 1340 EVO has been on there for 20 years. It just replaces the cover. We used to just drill a hole in the cover and drive a screwdriver in it to start if a bike had wiring issues, or steal them.
@@chrisridethatbloodything2044 Tape a quarter to the back of the old small key switches and that's a solved problem. My bro got home that way after losing his key in the bushes while romancing sum yung tang. He also go poison sumac. It was a run to remember.
The third injector is likely for two reasons; 1. They used smaller injectors on the heads to get good drivability and fuel control and the third injector for additional fuel under boost. 2. Being pre supercharger it acts as an air cooling agent when injected into the roots/screws due to the absence of a cooler.
The injector on the super charger. My guess from having built a couple supercharged projects. Engine runs normally on the injectors in the engine. The injector in the supercharger adds the needed extra fueling for conditions when the engine is getting boost. Probably regulated by a built in map sensor. Bolt on..... no tuning required to the engine fueling.
I'm guessing that is the case too, especially if it's bolt on. Rather than tune and size the primary injectors, just leave the stock ones in and have a separate one for boost. Seeing how it's blowing black smoke they definitely didn't know how to tune it in the first place!
I remember them saying they used nitromethane or sth like this. Even ethanol or methanol need extra injectors to compensate for energy density. Similar to a carbs powerjet
Would a fuel injector on the superchrager also help cool the charge air and increase the charge density as the fuel evaporates? That might be an unintended consequential bonus rather that a primary design consideration
I normally just skip over promo's but your humor has captivated me 0.0 It's also nice to see some deep dives and corrective work being taken on these old OCC bikes. Good stuff dudes!

How did I not know about this fuel injector tool!! I have been saying for years something like this need to be made! Thank you Craig I would have never found out about it had you not shown it.
Yeah, I'm going to have to find this one. They make expensive 4 or more injector cycle/clean systems but this one is pretty simple. I made a setup of my own to cycle the injector and spray cleaner but it's a pain to swap injectors and the cleaner spray tube wants to pop out of the rubber hose it's feeding into.

It's hilarious to me to see a bike from OCC being repaired after it really wasn't driven. We look about the same age cause I too remember the original American Chopper Discovery shows. Built for show and not go, I am not surprised in the slightest and kinda always knew that I think.
Yep. They keep fiddling with stuff to try and get it running as it is. First thing they really should do is pull the engine and rebuild it with lower compression and a better setup for the supercharger. Doubtful it’d make the power that was sometimes claimed, but would at least make it not need race fuel to barely work.
@@keithbelz2952 yeah they're definitely not 6 figure bikes, but the buyers of OCC bikes aren't really buying a bike for 6 figures. They were buying a marketing opportunity to be highlighted on the show, and the bike is essentially like a gift bag that they can take with them and display at their offices. These bikes aren't built for riders, and they're not really the product either.

The Miss Geico turbine boats were incredible engineering and performing marvels, it's kind of sacrilegious to build a pos like that and have it tied to the Miss Geico name in any way. If the Miss Geico race team had built this bike, it would go 200+ mph, and not be a living room ornament.

28:30 to spark. What was the actual man-hours before 1st crank. 1st "real" crank? You guys are true "mechanical forensic doctors"!! So much patience....
That style of blower usually heats the intake charge air a fair bit as it compresses - that added injector may be for using fuel evaporation to cool the charge a bit before it reaches the engine, since there doesn't seem to be an intercooler? That might help avoid knocking, considering it's high comp and boosted.
You know that saying "never meet your heroes" I think that it also applies to owning an OOC bike especially a custom one that was never designed to be a daily rider.

Considering the bike doesn’t run and never had ran the guy who built it may not be the best choice now would he ? He basically pooped his pants and you wanna feed him more ice cream
@@earljohnson2676 it's basically the old adage about whether you ask the guy who put the bus in the ditch to get it back out.
@@earljohnson2676 Except it did run and the guy even showed Sean videos of him riding it. He was literally one of the only people who ever rode it. Then it sat for years. The guy knew everything about the ridiculous mechanics of the supercharger and tune of the bike so yeah he would be the best choice. He didn't build it--OCC did. The bike went to the guy to actually get it running. Not sure why people are commenting when they clearly don't even know the backstory.
Because its the innerweb filled with morons
Nvr owned a bike but I learned how to problem solve from patient and persistent guys,so can relate to the nvr say die approach.Pleasure to watch 👏🏻
That starter button is a simple install, I have one on my 1340 EVO has been on there for 20 years. It just replaces the cover. We used to just drill a hole in the cover and drive a screwdriver in it to start if a bike had wiring issues, or steal them.
So, you admit to being a bike thief. Got it.
@@micksterboone4517 yup. No one knows who he is. Or if hes telling the truth. So yup.
Its not that easy. On top of the starter is a solenoid. By pushing it the startes runs. But without ignition the engine will not start ;-)

The third injector is likely for two reasons;
I'm guessing Craig never had a vehicle with a hpfp
This one here Craig. We use them with the jb4 tuner on my cars twin turbo platform.
FINALLY you got it started. I am a biker and have watched all the videos related to this bike. LOL . WOW. GREAT JOB!!!!!
I normally just skip over promo's but your humor has captivated me 0.0 It's also nice to see some deep dives and corrective work being taken on these old OCC bikes. Good stuff dudes!
I recently rebuilt my cv carb for my sportster, and in the past I’d never touch a carburetor cause as far as I knew it was magic. You and your channel gave me the confidence to tackle something like that and it runs amazing now!
Congrats your new found confidence has paid you dividends. Go forth and try more things you'll be amazed what a bit of confidence and observation can have get done
You guys have a Huge amount of patience. I am not a wrench turner for all the very reasons you ran into. My hats off to you. I am interested is seeing your final results.
Craig, you are a gem! Your skill level and passion for motorcycles is unmatched by anything else on TH-cam! Thank you for continually educating the motorcycle community!
You remind me of an old friend of mine he passed away he had the same type of Personality he was so fun to work with I work with that man for 30 years enjoy his company I wish you the best good work God bless you
Hey man, I never really make it through whole videos, I've never ridden or fixed a motorbike in my life and somehow I sat and watched this thing through to the end! Really great stuff, thank you
A 300hp bike with no rear suspension and a front disc that might be 6". What could go wrong?
Nothing, that bike is as safe as that huge exposed belt wobbling near the rider's knee!

Best part of the weekend is here! Only channel where I press like on the videos just as they start 😊
[From the U.K.] I enjoyed this. You should be commended for your patience. (I only watched a couple of OCC episodes & they seem like cowboys; buy lots of branded parts and screw them together. Then weld anything - frame, handle bars, with no stress testing. Then distract everyone from the resulting heap with a custom glitter paint job and add extra "bling".
Sure... build a "show bike" for looks only but don't ever let anyone ride it!!
The “ preparation H “on a toothbrush had me absolutely in tears, Guys! Absolutely love your banter and brings back memories of me and my dad working on street rods in Long branch New Jersey, back in the day. If you ever do get up that way Asbury Park has reopened “the Circuit“and I am sure your eyes would be popping out of your head with some of the bikes and rods that cruise Asbury Park. Blessings guys!
Actually I wanted to ask. What was the actual recommendation on what NOT to do with the spark plug? I didn't get it😅
"We're running out of chairs!" 😂
I just discovered this channel but you and your cameraman's rapport makes for absolutely incredible educational material. It's so easy to follow what you're doing and this isn't necessarily the simplest stuff. Also is that a busa engine on the table lmao what a shop
It's hilarious to me to see a bike from OCC being repaired after it really wasn't driven. We look about the same age cause I too remember the original American Chopper Discovery shows. Built for show and not go, I am not surprised in the slightest and kinda always knew that I think.
This whole video EXACTLY confirms every word Jay Leno said about OCC bikes. I thought he was just exaggerating. I had no idea he was spot on.
Yep. They keep fiddling with stuff to try and get it running as it is. First thing they really should do is pull the engine and rebuild it with lower compression and a better setup for the supercharger. Doubtful it’d make the power that was sometimes claimed, but would at least make it not need race fuel to barely work.
Junk that's why what was 250k to be built can be bought for less than 10k
@@keithbelz2952 yeah they're definitely not 6 figure bikes, but the buyers of OCC bikes aren't really buying a bike for 6 figures. They were buying a marketing opportunity to be highlighted on the show, and the bike is essentially like a gift bag that they can take with them and display at their offices.
These bikes aren't built for riders, and they're not really the product either.
@@MotodidaktThat's the most succinct description of what was going on I've ever heard. Well said man

Same here. I was so sick of Rich Rebuilds. That channel turned to crap after he ghosted Stevon.

The Miss Geico turbine boats were incredible engineering and performing marvels, it's kind of sacrilegious to build a pos like that and have it tied to the Miss Geico name in any way. If the Miss Geico race team had built this bike, it would go 200+ mph, and not be a living room ornament.
Owning a bike you have to fix every 6-12 miles sounds like a blast💀💀💀💀

The diameter of those miniscule front discs is a good indicator of how fast this bike is safe to ride.
It's safe to push down the road. Beyond that, sketchy.
Still wrapping my head around the 5 little strips of grip-tape as a seat 😖
this geico bike came up in my feed with the other guy, and now i'm on the edge of my seat wondering if it'll ever be roadtrip worthy! Good job, and good luck!
The fuel injector on the blower is to cool the blower, and cool the charge. Same reason they run fuel through the blower on top fuel engines.
THAT BLACK SUT OVER THE EXHAUST! TOLD ME ALL I NEED TO KNOW YOUR RUNNING THAT BIKE THE SAME WAY I LOVE MY WOMEN! *RICH AN RETARDED! LOL* *GBYAA!!!!!!!!!!!!*
I'm not mechanically inclined, but basically they're water-cooling the blower with the fuel, correct?
@@WyattWeadge the fuel lowers the air temp. Lower temperature air is more dense. Higher density means you're getting more air for the same amount of compression, so it produces more horsepower.

"real" crank? You guys are true "mechanical forensic doctors"!! So much patience....
That style of blower usually heats the intake charge air a fair bit as it compresses - that added injector may be for using fuel evaporation to cool the charge a bit before it reaches the engine, since there doesn't seem to be an intercooler? That might help avoid knocking, considering it's high comp and boosted.
I never knew the reincarnated Bearded Mikey from OCC would be so entertaining. You always deserved your time to shine, buddy! I'm rooting for you!
He is a bit like Mikey, albeit about 300% more intelligent. :P

@20:30: 😂 It was like I was watching an episode of OCC. Great Sr. & Jr. impersonation 🤣🤣🤣
You know that saying "never meet your heroes" I think that it also applies to owning an OOC bike especially a custom one that was never designed to be a daily rider.
Jason Poole is probably guilty of this contraption. WHY, would they hire a guy, who knows ZERO about motorcycles, to design motorcycles? Unbelievable.
Another one to one scale model. Like most show cars built today.

I’ve always been this sensible motorcycle owner with beemer boxers as favourites. 7 years back I became the unwilling owner of a VERY run down -94 Evo Softail. It was in a horrible state but something in me said: "bobber build". Years and vast financial losses later it is almost finished, a condition it will stay in until my death. It runs and is loved but it was the encouraging words from a now late friend who got me started, as follows: "There is a huge aftermarket if you own a HD where parts and everything available almost barely fits, expect surprises".
It took me the entire video to figure out exactly who you sound like!! It was on the tip of my tongue for 30 minutes.

The pre blower injector functions as an intercooler. Uses the fuel to cool the intake charge. It really works.
