A month ago I got my first “real board” (I’ve been riding a WaveStorm for over a year now). It’s a 7’2” Randy Lewis midlength and yesterday I went surfing at Churches here in San Clemente. Before I got into the water I SAW DOLPHINS so I already knew it would be a good day. While I was out there it was low tide super shallow and they were rocks below us so I was hesitant to ride the waves because I didn’t want to ding my board. I kept pulling out because I was scared. But then I just felt this energy that was so difffernt and I rode the wave parallel to the shore and I was in the power zone of the wave. IT WAS THE BEST WAVE IVE EVER RIDEN!! Like I was so happy and proud of myself. Hope y’all get experiences like that too!! I thank the Dolphin Gods 🤌🏼
@@KalesBroccoli I thank you tons Kale! I’ve been watching your videos for over a year now and you’ve have helped me insanely! Your a great teacher and surfer 🤙🏽
I've surfed for 30 years and just started surf skating the last couple of years. Surf skating has greatly improved my surfing. It's amazing! After 30 years I feel like I'm surfing better than ever now! Really appreciate the videos. You rock!
@LaggerSVK >> we have 2 Carver surf skate boards. The 1st one I got was a little more fun board type shape and on the long side. Really helped me get the feel for this type of skateboard. Then my son got a Lost Mayhem that has the surfboard shape. More pointed nose and fish type tail. It's much loser on the turns. The next board we'll get will be shorter to immulate riding a smaller board, making more & tighter turns. The improvement to my surfing is undeniable. I've never been a skateboarder until we got the Carver boards even though I've surfed for over 30 years. Now when I surf I'm able to make much better turns. My body has adapted and now my reflexes are much smoother and quicker since riding the Carver. Plus they're a ton of fun. I ride Mt skateboard everywhere now. We have lots of new fresh pavement and lots of hills where I live, so I get glassy sessions everyday regardless of how windy it is over the ocean. I still surf literally every single day. I'm an old dude too. Over 50 and work multiple jobs, but still surf in the ocean every single day.
@@OspreyVision thanks for quite an insight. For the smaller board havent you considered YOW performance boards? Those are quite small mainly for the BOWL riding.
All of Kale Brock's videos rock. We started watching for my 10 year old, but I've found the videos to be super helpful for me as well & I'm an old dude who's been surfing cold water daily for 3 decades....
Went out today and was finally able to trim up and down a wave for the first time. Only got a bottom turn, then back up and down, and tried going for a second before falling. I'll happily take my little win for the day though. Thanks for the videos Kale!
Yesterday I practised a little bit this technique you explained, the execution wasn't perfect but I felt an immediate progress during practising! Thank you, Kale!!!
I found a Carve brand board with inflatable tires. My first board set up didn't let the trucks turn enough without getting wheel bite. The biggest issue was that somehow that board would find every pebble or palm tree seed or crack in the concrete which jammed the wheels & sent me flying. The board with tires has trucks that let me do these maneuvers plus will roll over every pebble, seed or crack. I agree that practicing like this made a huge difference with muscle memory. Thank you for all your great tips!
This is excellent. I used to be a professional skateboarder who also surfed When I taught skateboard camp, the things I noticed with the kids in the camp was that they had no flatland skills they could maybe to a few tricks like street skating tricks like an Ollie or something but the skills are talking about are so important is the building blocks to skateboarding and of course it helps or Surfing thanks again for these clips
Well In Mate!! Been watching the Australian Team Comp with the surf clubs where they're running up the beach 🏖 to change surfers.. my neighbors keep skating in Venice where we met!! ❤️🍀gotta get a board!!
Great video reminders on technique and I am now going back through the Ultimate Surf Skate Program. I understanding the upper body provides direction of movement and where you look is where you go. No need to imaging where the focus point for bottom or top turning in skateboarding, when using cones. I am however now aware of my error in where my focus point is for surfing. The position where a board turns is obviously not the same position to focus on for the leading hand point of touch and turn around on waves. A basic focal point difference which I hadn’t previously identified when surfing. I actually think that my focus was just on the point where the board would best ride and I would put my hand down without any focus point. I just need to train the old noodle to focus on the correct spot to focus my hand, not my feet and board (probably one metre inside of the radius turn of my board. Did any of my focus point issues make sense to you ?
Kale- great instruction, thanks for these videos, Quick question- I surf goofy and skate regular. Is it worth it to force myself to re-learn skating goofy to get the most benefit on the surf skate?
Hi Kale. Great content thanks. I see you are using the Futureflex Cohort a fair bit. What fins are you using on it? See a few reviewers saying its a bit tight and sticky if you don’t get the fins right?
Great video! I just have one stupid problem: I surf goofy but on Skateboards I always am regular because I can't push with me left leg, just feels weird. So how do I transfer the skating part onto the surfboard? =/

Same. I feel a little regretful that I didn't surf skate years ago.
I am wondering what you feel like surfskate improved on you? Which brand you use?

It’s nice to see some good surf skating videos uploaded at last :)
Sorry but I can’t unsee the fly that landed perfectly onto your eye tail at @7:20 lol
Thanks for the awesome tutorial!

Another gold content. Its so instructive and very well done 👏 🔥
I have no words to thank you!
Pleasure :)

Love seeing the solar panels in the background. I'm a solar / alternative energy guy. Way to go Australia. We're(everyone)going solar in California.
thats the really helpful and good course! I recommend it to all my friends!
Epic content. Super useful. Thanks.
These are awesome videos. I'm goofy though, so it's hard to reverse the demo in my mind - it would be super helpful to see a goofy version 😊
In our online course we have mirrored technique visualisation videos for the goofy footers

fantastic explanation as usual : )

What wheels do you use?
Always interesting 👍👍

Yes. No choice!
Would a rip stick be better for this??

looove it!
Hi! I’m a longboard surfer. Do the techniques differ between the two styles? (Short boarding/vs longboarding?)
Why is your surfskate course not open for registration anymore?
Sorry all fixed now :)
Great video! I just have one stupid problem: I surf goofy but on Skateboards I always am regular because I can't push with me left leg, just feels weird. So how do I transfer the skating part onto the surfboard? =/
With a surfskate, you don’t need to push so it is perfect! You can use it goofy by just stepping on and pumping to get it moving.
What is ur surfskate brand?? Thanks in advance ⚡️🤙🏼
