This storyline really shows how different Tony is to the rest of his crew, and how he can rationalize it to them to still remain in charge. Tony goes to therapy, something no one in that room or any other mob would ever think of doing. He light heartedly makes fun of the other’s religious beliefs at times, and even states the obvious, that Vito is not the first, when told that some others think it’s a sin and he should die. You can see through subtext that Tony doesn’t approve, but also doesn’t really care about another mans sexuality.
He's not different, he's worse. He wants to risk the crew's reputation and keep Vito around because Vito is a high earner. Tony is smarter than average but what sticks out here is his willingness to break with norms tradition for personal gain.

This storyline really shows how different Tony is to the rest of his crew, and how he can rationalize it to them to still remain in charge. Tony goes to therapy, something no one in that room or any other mob would ever think of doing. He light heartedly makes fun of the other’s religious beliefs at times, and even states the obvious, that Vito is not the first, when told that some others think it’s a sin and he should die. You can see through subtext that Tony doesn’t approve, but also doesn’t really care about another mans sexuality.
He's not different, he's worse. He wants to risk the crew's reputation and keep Vito around because Vito is a high earner. Tony is smarter than average but what sticks out here is his willingness to break with norms tradition for personal gain.

I like how Tony is initially amused when first hears it and Patsy isn’t bothered. It’s interesting that Tony showed restraint, I can’t help wondering if he would have had Paulie’s reaction in the earlier seasons.
