Blow away watching the Sopranos just an amazing actor and he is such a likeable dude..So calm and professional one of the finest actors a real game changer like Brandon and a few other actors he just exudes an aura of boss.
It's a great scene, for sure, and Gandolfini is incredible in it, no doubt, but Tony Sirico plays it perfectly as well. He's pissed, he's scared, he's on the knife's edge and most of all -- he's STILL. His character was always a little hyper but in this scene, he's perfectly still and focused. He did a great job making Gandolfini look great and did a terrific job himself.
First time I can remember seeing was in Get Shorty in which he plays a big strong “goof”. When Travolta puts him down & asks why he does it G gets kind of sheepish. Goes from tough guy to a mensch Great acting
Such an amazing actor, I can't put into words how perfect he is in this role, it almost overtakes him being James Gandolfini, meaning when I see him I view him as Tony Soprano

Agree! I thought GoT would pass Sopranos all-time. Then the the books ended and the writers started making their own stories. Every episode of Sopranos is a 9 or a 10/10. That is rare.
Gandolfini was so amazing in this show. Like the way he went from being terrified he might have killed Pussy by mistake and seemed heart broken, and then to the switch when Paulie says he refused to take his clothes off. You can almost see him go from being concerned for his friend to that realization that most likely Jimmy and Pussy are both rats
Blow away watching the Sopranos just an amazing actor and he is such a likeable dude..So calm and professional one of the finest actors a real game changer like Brandon and a few other actors he just exudes an aura of boss.
Between the small details, the acting, the symbolism, the characters.. nothing short of a masterpiece. Best show to ever exist! RIP James, forever immortalized by your legendary performance
Every scene in the sopranos is his best scene. I could watch season 1-6 back to back to back to back to back. I’m actually annoyed because I just finished watching it and I KNOW logically for my sanity I need to take a break before I watch it again. Greatest show in the history of television far as I’m concerned. And I can’t keep having this conversation about it.
Let me tell you a story, when the first episode of this great show was aired in my country ireland, first of all, the theme song got 2 me at the start of the show and then tony soprano aka the great james gondolfini came into our lifes, every week, every month and every year, skip a year there, we never missed a show, episode like, we rang our mates in between the ad breaks and after, and all we would talk about was the sopranos, god bless everyone that was involved in, that show, from Mr chase to the the tea boy, take a bow, and i finish with this, god bless James, a true gentleman, only for him, i and my friends wouldn't off watched it, rip pure love to his family xx
I couldn’t possibly choose a Best of James’s work in this brilliant series. He was never less than fantastic every moment on screen. A gifted actor, imho.
James Gandolfini was meant to play Tony Soprano. Loved him and the show. Best show ever made. Only time I shed a tear when a celebrity died was for James. No show has ever or will ever light a candle to this legendary show.
What's crazy is it was so unusual at the time for a character to go through so many emotions in one scene. You just didn't see it in television until The Sopranos, and only Gandolfini could've pulled it off
yeah tony has the charisma and brain of a leader, but his multi-faceted personality and his humanness is what really makes his character so memorable. The constant contrast and internal battle he has between good and evil.
Gandolgini’s greatest acting scene imho is when he comes home to Carmella throwing his stuff out the window. While Carmella’s acting is incredible as well, the transition from total, unmovable denial to…. “………what.” Is absolutely unbelievable. When she shows him the finger nail, he begins to lie then stops... she gives him a look like "oh let me hear you try." And he knows he is beaten. He resigns. He literally confesses to everything uses nothing but body language. Masterful
He didn’t begin to lie…he began to say that the fingernail was someone else’s, and not the Russians. THAT’S why he stopped himself he was about to get himself in more trouble. The fingernail belonged to Valentina, remember?
Love the small break he takes after Paulie mentions that Pus refused to take his clothes off. You can see how he contemplates the possiblitiy of him being a rat still before he dismisses the thought and focuses on Jimmy again.
James Gandolfini came to our attention late in life , as Tony in Sopranos. But never will anyone have an impact on us, as he did. The man was a genius. R.I.P James, Safe in the arms of Jesus 🙏
CrazySicily Lol he had some ice cream but seriously, those were his last words man, they were at the hospital joking around and then he had a heart attack. And thanks bud, I miss him.
Paulie: "Get your fucking hands of me!" Paulie is probably one of the very few who would dare stand up to Tony and also one of the very few who Tony would allow to talk back to him like that. This scene is extremely brilliantly acted.
I love the subtlety of this scene. You can tell how Tony already knows that Pussy is the rat, but he keeps denying it through his nervous interactions with his crew. He doesn't want to believe and keeps reiterating that Jimmy's the rat. Great acting by Gandolfini overall!
Madeline Monahan obviously you don't remember Jimmy's reaction in the hotel room when Silvio came out of the closet to whack him and asked if he had his lil radio to call for help. That gave it away that he really was a rat.
After watching the series over and over I realized there's many incidents where Tony denies something or acts totally childish and scared about something, the first time watching the series I felt more on Tony's side but after a bunch of times how scary and twisted of a soul Tony has and why he's like this
@@coreydean6540 you dont remember when Jimmy gets out and he goes to Tony's house in the basement he starts acting all weird and starts asking Tony questions about incriminating things and just keeps asking and asking like he's recording him or trying to catch something, Jimmy was definitely also a rat.
Paulie thinks he’s dropping the bomb, but Tony misses it although it smacks right in the face Jimmy was so good. So many emotions and facets in the span of a few minutes
Tony doesn't miss it, he does everything he can to ignore it but his facial expression shows that he can't ignore the fact that Pussy very well may also be a rat. James' facial expressions were unparalleled when it came to conveying what he's feeling and thinking. IMO there have been better actors when it comes to delivering lines (not many mind you, but maybe a handful) but only Justin Theroux as Kevin Garvey (the leftovers) has ever come close to being able to convey SO much emotion with just a look.
Some seasons were stronger than others, but James Gandolfini remained a constant source of quality and serious artistry within the show. I will truly miss seeing him in new films, but his legacy will live on within those six seasons forever. What an inspiration.

Livias wake back at Tony’s house is mine
Paulie putting the lawnmower in his boot !
st domingo blues I love Chrissy’s monologue while he’s baked. Hits too close to home.
Chino Flores ye funny as fuck they all in r that scene. Tony telling Janice to rap it up
Nah - "KGB! open up!" rather :D So many levels that was good.
2:12 me too Tony,me too
Me too🙂
James G. was one of the best, if not the best, gangster on television.
I would put Johnny Sac in that position (best gangster)
James G was really the best Actor though
*cough cough* Omar *cough cough*
+algerierz
Johnny Sac, who failed to pull off a Gotti style takeover, nearly got whacked on the orders of his own boss (over a joke about his wife's fat arse), wasn't wanted as boss by a large chunk of his own family, and got convicted, sent away, his assets seized, and died in a prison hospital?
algerierz I enjoyed Johnny sac's swagger as a gangster, the way he answered his phone with "speak", but gandolfini brought a very distinct performance with tony soprano.
Na Stephen Graham
Left us way too young , still was a blessing he got to finish the Sopranos, This was massive back in the day!!
Thanks for that mate , great reminder of an undervalued legend.
His son plays a good young Tony in 'The Many Saints of Newark' but it is obvious he was not an experienced actor, either, unlike his father. Plus, the fact that the TV show went on for 7 years helped all the actors hone their characters.
I love how Paulie handles the situation here. He broke a wild stallion right there.
yeah he respected Tony but wasnt gonna take abuse
And Tony apologized to him. That's respect.
The horse pussy whisperer
Paulie was a made man, and he did work for Tony’s dad, hell no he won’t take no abuse. Paulie would never be on my bad side if this were real life lol.
he broke a wild stallion sounds like something paulie would say too 😂 i like that
That show was a masterpiece! R.I.P. Gandolfini
Nobody could have played "Tony" better than Jimmy G.
+redwhitentrue Not sure - but certainly the entire series would have been completely different without him. Looking at some of his other acting, he was a long shot for this role. I'm glad it was him.
Heather Spoonheim Oh, it wasn't a question dear.
roy shut the FUCK up cry baby
Apparently Silvio was suppose to be the boss originally. Plays a good part, but he’s no James Gandolfini!
Fuckin' Jimmy!
2:08 “I’m sorry Paulie” is his best delivery of his accent in the entire series. The way he pronounces the O in sorry and the Paulie as deep is 👌.
Shut up
pooli
"The Wire, it's fucking Jimmy!" - Tony Soprano, talking about McNulty. Epic.
toreswe lmao nice spot
lmao! what the fuck you just blew my mind right now :D
Imagine if McNulty came in and said.."what the fuck did I do" lol
Jared Dowty does it really matter?
McNulty: F@*ked did I do.?
how can you pick a best performance from this incredible actor? all of James Gandolfini’s scenes in what may be the best show ever produced are great
The acting is something we’ve never seen before which is why we love the sopranos so much. It’s so so realistic it’s scary.
You never seen acting like this until the Sopranos?
@@84Victorious not to this extent. It was like 7-8 seasons of full on years of development. Nothing comes close. They can try their best to recreate it or something, but no. Nothing has ever came close. Movies will never ever reach this level Bc there isn’t enough time in them.
I wouldn't go that far. There had been pretty of great acting before this and after it. Yes Gandolfini's acting was amazing but he is hardly the first one to give an amazing performance.
@@EventhorizonShadows just because they had plenty of time for character development doesn't mean it's the greatest acted show ever. That would be breaking bad by the way! Lol
@@seanriopel3132 it’s a pretty subjective thing dude lol there is no #1 actor that everyone in the world knows is the best.
To me, he is the best. Btw breaking bad wouldn’t exist without the sopranos. They paved the way for people like Walter white. His performance was amazing though!
I def have them right at the top of my list
This IS an incredible performance. The sad thing is that even after Tony tells Paulie that it's Jimmy, the look exchanged between them shows that they *both* still know Pussy was a rat. Agonizing.
No...the sad thing is that it wasn't Jimmy at all...they killed an innocent guy...what makes it even sadder is they did not even acknowledge his innocence or show any guilt for doing it
@@russellking9762 I don't think there was anything about Jimmy that screams the word "innocent". If he was a made guy, he had certainly murdered in the past.

*One of Jame Gandolfini's Best Scenes from The Sopranos*
Gandolfini was untouchable in this role--in most of his roles. I truly cannot get enough of this show. I miss the man as if he were a beloved uncle.
Blow away watching the Sopranos just an amazing actor and he is such a likeable dude..So calm and professional one of the finest actors a real game changer like Brandon and a few other actors he just exudes an aura of boss.
That heavy nostril-breathing could've won an Emmy by itself.
It's all due to that gabagool.
1:30 to 1:40
pointing hand changes..
Good catch, dude.
Nice catch. No cancer of the eyes for you.
There are many continuity errors hidden in The Sopranos. Maybe a homage to Scorcese?
woah
@@CHICOZTACOS 😂
Some ppl don’t understand the talent of this man. RIP legend.
Such an amazing actor, I can't put into words how perfect he is in this role, it almost overtakes him being James Gandolfini, meaning when I see him I view him as Tony Soprano
It was the greatest series ever. I just watched the whole series again right from the beginning. I didn’t want it to end.
same i just skip made in america and go back to the pilot. the talking sopranos pod is a great side by side listen / watch along with each episode. literally my favorite thing ever 😂 but for real.
I'll always remember him as an amazing actor. Thank you so much for all your work.
André Vila Franca, indeed
Quality show til the end. Didn't choke at the end like Game of Thrones.
Agree! I thought GoT would pass Sopranos all-time. Then the the books ended and the writers started making their own stories. Every episode of Sopranos is a 9 or a 10/10. That is rare.
@@TraumaER Except for Christopher
I’d put Breaking Bad up there in terms of acting but nothing beats James’s Tony Soprano, it’s simply world class acting at its finest
@Fo Reel lol you clearly haven't read the books. The show was fine until season 6. It's unwatchable now because of those final seasons
Until the very last scene.
He was made for this role.
In my opinion it's still the best television show ever.
Once in a lifetime performer.
Agree, show will never be topped!
HBO Network TV never they would have cut it to bits... Best Drama for sure.
@@germanshepherd13 Lost is better
“The wire! It’s fuckin’ Jimmy!”
Jimmy McNulty from The Wire barges in asking, “The fuck did I do?”
Gandolfini is so convincing in this role that I'd be afraid to meet him.
Apparently a lot of people who came into contact with him in real life were.
Oh why did this great man have to go too soon?!?! James is and always will be one of my favorite actors ever!
Anytime Gandolfini was on the screen was his best.
The quality of the acting is of the highest quality, the whole show was a masterclass.
This is an excellent scene. So many story lines here, so many different dynamics all working together.
How each and every character made this series a masterpiece it still makes me sad that it ended
This show should out season law and order. Wouldn't bother me if it went 25-30 seasons
1:53 Sil looking like a toddler trying to stand still for the first time
He looks so nervous hahah
Never noticed that lmaoo. Sils facial expressions and body language were so good, especially in the first season.
HAH! That's some funny shit right there.
LEAVE THE COCKSUCKING CHEESE WHERE IT IS
Paulie is so good in this scene. Funny how is blank face is the most telling thing about the character.
Its scenes like this which proves why The Sopranos is a fantastic show and James Gandolfini is a legend of an actor.
James Gandolfini was a legend!! He played his roll on the Sopranos to the max. May he rest in peace ✌🙏
I re. him in Get Shorty He played kind of an oafish type strongman. But a lovable character. He nailed that one too RIP
played his role
Al Bundy....
david chase and the various writers are MF brilliant
@@signoresantinoburnett1169 love him too but no
@@signoresantinoburnett1169 Ed O'Neill is the GOAT. HE LITERALLY had the makings of a varsity athlete
Masterful
same scene I was thinking of, pure acting on both their parts.
He didn’t begin to lie…he began to say that the fingernail was someone else’s, and not the Russians. THAT’S why he stopped himself he was about to get himself in more trouble. The fingernail belonged to Valentina, remember?
Yes that scene between JG and EF when they're splitting up is fantastic acting at its best
Gina - yes, true
Love the small break he takes after Paulie mentions that Pus refused to take his clothes off. You can see how he contemplates the possiblitiy of him being a rat still before he dismisses the thought and focuses on Jimmy again.
James Gandolfini came to our attention late in life , as Tony in Sopranos. But never will anyone have an impact on us, as he did. The man was a genius.
R.I.P James, Safe in the arms of Jesus 🙏
2:12 Something you might hear at a sausage fest...

Great acting by all involved.
James was so ridiculously talented, it’s a tragedy that he was taken from us so soon
That final look between Tony and Paulie is the best. Talking without speaking.
Paulie is the kind of guy you don't fuck with..... and he looked like he was going to faint when Tony threatened him. Such good acting all round
I just watched Soprano's after all these years! It was amazing. I cannot explain James Gandolfini, except amazing! The whole cast... flawless!
Paulie: "Get your fucking hands of me!"
Paulie is probably one of the very few who would dare stand up to Tony and also one of the very few who Tony would allow to talk back to him like that.
This scene is extremely brilliantly acted.
He's still a made guy.
Tony was wrong putting his hands on Paulie . did not change the fact that Puss is the rat.
+FuckYouAllToPieces
Whatya crying for was just a few alterations, he was too attached to his suit.
he respected Pauline too much. because he was from his father's generation of monsters
@@ginrummy2553 I assume you mean "Mobsters" but it still works, possibly more accurate.
I love the subtlety of this scene. You can tell how Tony already knows that Pussy is the rat, but he keeps denying it through his nervous interactions with his crew. He doesn't want to believe and keeps reiterating that Jimmy's the rat. Great acting by Gandolfini overall!
TheDrmcvey Yeah. Repeating, "You understand?" didn't seem genuine to me.
Jimmy was not a rat .just dum who got wacked by mistake.
One of the best tv characters ever!
Never tire of the Sopranos absolute genius from everyone of the cast.
Paulie was a G! “ I said NO, now get your fuckin hands off me!”
Rest in Peace Gandolfini
Pauley showed balls telling a pissed off Tony to get his f... Hands off.
This show...the acting...the writing...one of a kind!
Paulie thinks he’s dropping the bomb, but Tony misses it although it smacks right in the face
Jimmy was so good.
"He refused to take his clothes off" 🐭
0:08 how I'd react if Slippin' Jimmy makes a cameo in "The Wire"
Some seasons were stronger than others, but James Gandolfini remained a constant source of quality and serious artistry within the show. I will truly miss seeing him in new films, but his legacy will live on within those six seasons forever. What an inspiration.
