Have you read any of the Superman Rebirth issues? We actually are getting a lot of Superman as a mentor, since he's training his son Jonathan as the new Superboy. It's rather good so far!
This was honestly my favorite issue in Rebirth in general. And I loved, absolutely loved, that they retained the Infinite Crisis implication that in every universe in the multiverse, Dick Grayson is pretty much consistently just a good guy everyone loves.
I always see in every alteration of the DCU, Dick Grayson has always been, "The Glue". He is always the most trusted and the most involved in all important matters regarding the overall world of DC, and to see him develop from a side character to his own mainstay Hero I can't help but tear up a little.
Great video! I couldn’t believe at the end that you weren’t a big Nightwing fan before. You captured so many details and motives of why I love the character. Thanks, dude!
Watching you do Dick Grayson stories makes me want a Dick Grayson film or tv series. Supergirl got one, Flash got one, Green Arrow got one, and a number of other characters over the years too. But Dick Grayson is like the most popular character in comics to never have his own standalone series outside the comics.
im a marvel fan mainly but dam dc is just bringing it, marvel is changing all the characters completely while dc brings back and merges your favs thats the best thing ever
I gave a very sad squeal when I saw Tim's manifestation in Nightwing's mind. I _so_ can't wait for that reunion. Also, it might just be sleep deprivation, but you made me bawl with that Nightwing-realises-that-he-matters speech. Man, Rebirth is great.
I love that Silver Age Supes is back. He's genuinely interesting as a character again. But more than that, S1 Supes is acting on behalf of the fans and somewhat steering the DC landscape back into what fans remembered. He's the glue binding the old with the new and it is great.
BossRedRanger No, no, and no. 1. That's post crisis Superman. 2. He's acting on behalf of the fans that were rage shitting their pants that there was a reboot, and that the New 52 heroes weren't happy go lucky, and corny as all get out. 3. He's more like pages from an old text book stapled into a new one to try to make it look more complete, while ruining something that was already fine on its own. New 52 was already getting gradually better and better as it went on. The young heroes were learning to handle a harsh and chaotic world, finding themselves, and growing as individuals.
The New 52 was my first jumping off point to DC comics, or at least how I got my start learning about the characters. Personally, I see it as the DC Ultimate Universe like what Marvel did for a while.
*THIS COMIC WAS EVERYTHING!!!!* Nightwing & Superman!! The nostalgia the greatness!!! Bludhaven + New 52 cameo. I wish it was "real". Plus it has the greatest cover ive seen in years.
Finished reading it earlier. (been overcrowded with other trades and issues) this was a great fun issue, and I'm really excited for what happens next to dick grayson.
I like these 2 teaming up cause it shows that nightwing is expanding as a character and is growing more and more out of batmans pupil and that he is more than ready to take up the cowl
Also we need this Superman in the Justice League movie. This Superman just brings so much hope and the sense that shit will get better. Not the often depressed Superman ( the actor is great just the writing of that Supes is off)
Henry Cavills Superman is him trying to find his place in the world, who is he, why is he here - In short; character development. Read Superman Earth Ond comic to get a better understanding of him. Anyways, Superman will become the man of hope in the new JL movie after his "rebirth" - MoS and BvS was setting Superman character up.
In Earth One he was still closer to this Superman than he was to Cavill's. Cavill's Superman is basically the New 52 version with a wannabe Nolan aproach.
Dream Chaser Again Henry is fine with me. Hes a good actor to me. I just feel that the writing makes him too dark and....depressed or helpless so to speak. I get it, Supermans journey has always been trying to fit in but it wasnt so sad at times.
RaginDXDemon Exactly! In the comics we get a sense of why Clark thinks of himself as human and decides to put on the cape. We get him going through the hardships of life and trying to fit in, sure, but also the good things because they're necesary to show us why he'd rather think of himself as human. His childhood, his friends, his parents. It takes a village to raise a child and Smallville was the perfect place for Clark.
seems like a good time to read comics. my dude, you are giving a lot of praise to most all the comics you are explaining. it is refreshing to hear how good stuff is getting.
I love your videos, Rob. I always read the comics before hand and then watch your videos in order to better understand what I just read. I hadn't picked up on half of the unlined meaning in this issue that you did. Don't know what I would do without you!
I would LOVE to see him fighting some superpowered villain all alone and make that call. That call where he needs someone, anyone to come to his aide, and a legion of heroes arrive. And the villain poos a little
Great video man ! Never had interest in Night wing on his own but I like how you emphasize that his name holds value now. As always great videos man , keep them coming !
Two things I have to say I hope they bring back Superboy-prime to redeem him and second most of these DC rebirth stories always make feel good when I read them
I love your vids. It really puts thing in perspective when you read so many different things you sometimes speed-read things without really soaking it all in. Cheers.
Rebirth made it worth spending countless days reading DC graphic novels back at B&N. These guys and gals have been knocking it out of the park, bringing back material from before New 52. I hope that this standard lasts for a long, long time.
It was great seeing Tim Drake show up in this. It feels like since New 52 happened characters are usually too busy doing "cool superhero stuff" to explore characters' connections and this book does a great job of shining a light on that. With both Superman and Tim. Tim's "death" should be a severe gut-punch to the superhero community because he's almost as solid and dependable as Dick. Along with being capable of ending the need for "superheroes" in general eventually. That character has crazy potential. But like any death it's all good as long as good story and development comes out of it. It's great to see Tim's death being a big part of helping Dick take his next step. One of his biggest steps, really. Great stuff.
There was a pretty great issue of Grayson focusing on his relationship with New 52's Superman during the DC You phase... I think it was superbly executed. They didn't have the time and development the Pre-Flashpoint versions had regarding their friendship. BUT It was an issue that actually touched some emotional plot point that I hadn't seen being done like that since the time Bruce had died and Dick became Batman. It was cheerful, we had Clark acting like Superman even without his whole plethora of powers, we had flashbacks fleshing out their shared history (and I think there was a mention of the origin of the Nighwing name in here), and we saw then working as partners in such different status quos, but still getting along naturally.
Hey, I'm with you, Rob!!! When the beings in the Source Wall were awakened by Black Hand and Hal Jordan, my first thought was; "Oh shit, we get to see Superboy-Prime." Needless to say, I was disappointed, but to see Superboy-Prime in the Nightwing one-shot makes me wanna see him in DC Comics again. Having finished this video...I'ma go read "Infinite Crisis", my favorite comic ever.
Am I the only one who wants Martian Manhunter to show back up in Rebirth? I can picture him having some incredibly profound dialogue with Doctor Manhattan, and he would be a logical choice to be the character to reveal Doctor Manhattan as this mysterious threat due to their common denominator, planet Mars.
it was also awesome to see superboy prime I live him as a villian he is so angry and crazy he is a great character one of my all time favorites. I hope to see him again soon in the comics!!
For anyone that is interested in Doctor Destiny, check out the Sandman volume 1 trade paperback: Preludes and Nocturnes. Arguably one of the most twisted, scary stories in comic history. Back in the days when DC was not afraid to have more mature books and something besides dudes in tights punching each other. I love DC Rebirth, but I would love to see a Vertigo Rebirth where the horror/magic characters get their own corner of the DC universe again rather than just being rehashed in token environmental stories.
With the doctor Manhattan part in this new reality my guess would be if superboy-prime came back he would relate to Dr. Manhattan, as he related to Alexander Luthor Junior, in being the only super being of his world from which he was later exiled, then there is also the new 52 Alexander Luthor Jr, that is still a baby, which Prime will probably try to protect, since Luthor Jr was Prime only friend, killing super-woman and mostly so the Luthor Jr does not fall like he thinks about all the other heroes so eventually Luthor Jr Inherits the power of Mazahs entering in direct conflict with Prime, killing Prime and then becoming the Mazahs with the powers of Prime.
You should do a segment on combative skill and tactical abilities. What forms of self defense characters use and when and how they studied it and the training that the comics show them training...You could call it "The Art of War"
Yes please I don't know much about him....also I loved the old intro from "The Heavy" I hope you bring it back and I hope it wasn't what gave you legal trouble.......cause your vids is what brought me to "The Heavy"
Why wasn't Cassandra Cain on the group of people Dick thought of when he thought about heroes who would help him when Harley Quinn and John Constantine were?
I've been watching a bunch of these now, and I really like your style. I was wondering if you can start adding the Title and Number of the issues covered in each of your reviews so I can go pick up some backs? That would be very helpful. Keep up the good work, love seeing some of these on my favorite heroes like Nightwing.
Jonathan Usvathongkul yah? i was wondering about that too... im betting once these two meet they'll trigger a massive "total recall" much like when barry met wally in this new world.... so essentially the only people who are from the original timeline "pre new 52" would be wally, barry and clark... all of them arrived to this momment through different points in time.... barry arrived in the the new 52 universe due to flash point with partial memory of the old univeese, wally through the speed force... superman basically arrived here post convergence story line and was just basically an observer until then.
oh yeh! ...lois and jonathan, they came with supes post convergence? I haven't bought or a single comic book in a long time. I'll admit it. I'm 12. I kept losing it every time superman said something like "Dick! I can't pull you out! You have to come back!" Especially with Dick's associated grunts and pleas. "HNGH!"
Hey since your giving such high praise to the trinity stories can u do some videos on them I would love to watch the videos of them from you. you do a great job of covering the stories and telling them. keep up the good work bro!
He was defeated by another version of superman before he got his amp/boost.After he became an adult,he was called Superman Prime and he wore a black suit.+TheGreat Chinook
nightwing alongside the other robins all seem to be creating their own teams and i would like to see how their responsibilities to the bat family as a whole and their individual teams such as the outlaws teen titans titan could possibly come to clash in a bat war of sorts.
Superman as a mentor is something we don't often get to see. Seeing his wisdom and intelligence is a breath of fresh air
Have you read any of the Superman Rebirth issues? We actually are getting a lot of Superman as a mentor, since he's training his son Jonathan as the new Superboy. It's rather good so far!
I was referring to the Rebirth series
SolarTwinLunarKing Ah, gotcha. It's great isn't it?!
Joshua Hartman REBIRTH IS GREATNESS
Yep. Sho' is.
This was honestly my favorite issue in Rebirth in general. And I loved, absolutely loved, that they retained the Infinite Crisis implication that in every universe in the multiverse, Dick Grayson is pretty much consistently just a good guy everyone loves.
"...that if Nightwing asked for help, the world would come to his side.." Not many superheros can claim that.
Spiderman in Marvel mabye, he's teamed with half of the superhero community. Oh and Captain America.
I always see in every alteration of the DCU, Dick Grayson has always been, "The Glue". He is always the most trusted and the most involved in all important matters regarding the overall world of DC, and to see him develop from a side character to his own mainstay Hero I can't help but tear up a little.
its either always Dick or Tim that keeps everyone level headed and together IMO
DC is killing it right now with the comics
Rabid Mouser keep killing it , keep killing it
Rabid Mouser exactly they are killing marvel comics out of the sales
Which is More Than I Can Say For Their Live-Action Movies.
Every character has their fans and their haters/naysayers, but I don't think I've ever come across *ANYONE* who hates Dick Grayson.
sakazakijin Really? I'd always thought that Dick was always a bit of a...well..you get the point. ( ͡° ͜ʖ͡° )
Newton'sFlamingLaserSword First time for everything :p
He's one of the FEW side-kick characters to ever come into his own.
sakazakijin well I hate him I despise him
sakazakijin I figured out what Dick is. He's the heart of the Bat Family.
Nightwing is one of the greatest
Dude, everytime I listen to one of your Nightwing videos, I end up either buying or queueing one of these :) Great job, mate!
Great video! I couldn’t believe at the end that you weren’t a big Nightwing fan before. You captured so many details and motives of why I love the character. Thanks, dude!

But Dick Grayson is like the most popular character in comics to never have his own standalone series outside the comics.
Same but I’m so scared they’ll screw it up and I think no one is brave enough to do it it’s a big pressure
2:50 Worst case scenario for Dick Grayson is that his team is "overwhelmed." lol
"Why can't anyone just be whelmed" - Dick Grayson (young justice)
im a marvel fan mainly but dam dc is just bringing it, marvel is changing all the characters completely while dc brings back and merges your favs thats the best thing ever
It was a very nice moment.
Damn, DC Rebirth is KILLING it now! Great stories! Sadly I look at Marvel and I just get sad.
市丸乱菊 the only decent thing with Marvel is Black Panther and Thanos, all the rest that is tied to Civil war 2 is nonsense
+biorobot2 Miss Marvel is pretty great. Gwenpool was also a lot of fun.
biorobot2 also Ultimates, Spider-Man Renew your Vows and Moon Knight
I agree, Marvel has been such a dissapointment.
I love that Silver Age Supes is back. He's genuinely interesting as a character again. But more than that, S1 Supes is acting on behalf of the fans and somewhat steering the DC landscape back into what fans remembered. He's the glue binding the old with the new and it is great.
BossRedRanger i wouldnt consider him silver age. More, post crisis
BossRedRanger No, no, and no.

freddieawsome1 I agree, I jus hate the flash confusion n flash armor suits even if it's more realistic. but I love DC more than Marvel

Near the end when he was saying how nightwing was needed was super motivational lmao
Seeing the page where nightwing says "i have lots of friends" maybe say out loud. "holy shit, this needs to be a poster or a wallpaper
I love nightwing like if you agree
I agree that you love him, but I will not like it.
+Joseph Cross same.
Come on dudes cut me some slack either you love him or you don't leave me alone you jerks
I am joshing around mate. it was the "like if you agree" thing we thought was funny. We can still be friends and I like you.
Jonathan Alexander oh then sorry dude for acting bitchy bro.

I LOVE Nightwing. word up!👊
... why did I almost cry and feel encouraged when Nightwing realized he mattered?
Out of all the storytelling about brotherhood amongst heroes, this has the best commentary and is my favorite.
Love waking up and playing your new videos blasting through my apartment in the morning. Joining the Rob Corp best decision ever!
seems like a good time to read comics. my dude, you are giving a lot of praise to most all the comics you are explaining. it is refreshing to hear how good stuff is getting.
AWESOME, ROB!! You bring genuine emotions to the story arcs. Rob "CE" 4 LIFE!!!!!!!!
Nightwing has been my favorite DC character for the last decade or so,and i plan on getting his symbol as a tattoo in the near future.
who remembers doctor destiny from the justice league tv show? martian manhunter and batman vs doctor destiny
Lightning Comet That epic batman scene when hes falling to sleep driving, and he punches the window, then batman buys coffee " give me a triple, NOW!"
I do remember that. That was after not sleeping for 3 days straight!!!!
I love your videos, Rob. I always read the comics before hand and then watch your videos in order to better understand what I just read. I hadn't picked up on half of the unlined meaning in this issue that you did.
Don't know what I would do without you!
I love hearing your excitement. it makes the narrative and information more appealing and awesome

Jaden Holmes I thought that as well!

Rebirth titles have been pretty dope so far. I'm happy I can finally pick up Nightwing.
This is amazing o-o
And is that the most amazing bromance or what?
you deserve to be wayy bigger than this....
nightwing is a new favorite, i love the real issues he faces with facing his fears and overcoming them
There was a pretty great issue of Grayson focusing on his relationship with New 52's Superman during the DC You phase...
I think it was superbly executed.
They didn't have the time and development the Pre-Flashpoint versions had regarding their friendship.
BUT
It was an issue that actually touched some emotional plot point that I hadn't seen being done like that since the time Bruce had died and Dick became Batman.
When the beings in the Source Wall were awakened by Black Hand and Hal Jordan, my first thought was; "Oh shit, we get to see Superboy-Prime."
Needless to say, I was disappointed, but to see Superboy-Prime in the Nightwing one-shot makes me wanna see him in DC Comics again.
Having finished this video...I'ma go read "Infinite Crisis", my favorite comic ever.
Great video rob on this amazing nightwing story
Superboy Prime is awesome, I totally agree.
I highly doubt Jason would deal with Prime's bitching for too long though. He might just kill Prime kill him to death hahahaha
Jason kick Superboy's arse is this the same Jason who had his arse handed to him TWICE by Damian Wayne.
Prime Restoration
Man, I loved Superboy-Prime, he's my favourite.
Me too.He kills people to death.
Uto Resa 519 Yup!
So happy to see another Superboy Prime fan Rob. Maybe Oz will grab Prime like he did Doomsday for a future purpose
vmorales225 let's just hope superbly prime doesn't say "I'll kill you , I'll kill you to death " to mr.oz
I do not want Superboy Prime to come back! Linkara's attitude toward him was enough to convince me that his character is not compelling.
Dr. Destiny also showed up in Sandman #2 written by Neil Gaiman, it was a great story!
Oh man, I love these types of character development SO MUCH!!!! And Dick Grayson makes this a million times better!
You've got to cover TRINITY!
Awsome as always Rob keep it up brother :)
Well done once again sir
I love any issue where Supes acknowledges the pre-New 52 world. This had to be my favorite one so far.
it was also awesome to see superboy prime I live him as a villian he is so angry and crazy he is a great character one of my all time favorites. I hope to see him again soon in the comics!!
Great timing because I just randomly watched the Justice League episode with Dr Destiny in it
love your channel you have the best discussions
For anyone that is interested in Doctor Destiny, check out the Sandman volume 1 trade paperback: Preludes and Nocturnes. Arguably one of the most twisted, scary stories in comic history. Back in the days when DC was not afraid to have more mature books and something besides dudes in tights punching each other. I love DC Rebirth, but I would love to see a Vertigo Rebirth where the horror/magic characters get their own corner of the DC universe again rather than just being rehashed in token environmental stories.
This was such a great issue man I cant be asked. So much nostalgia
First dragon ball super with gohan training again and now nightwing making a return. Finally characters we have wanted to see are coming back.
GUADALUPE MOSQUEDA Gohan trained briefly and then stopped again, seems like for good this time
I really hate Gohan, he let all of his potential go to waste. He always expects daddy to make the monsters go away.
you stay making videos. you're awesome
Can you do an origin of Namor video?
Keep fighting the good fight, +Majesty
SolarTwinLunarKing lmao thanks!
+1
Yes please I don't know much about him....also I loved the old intro from "The Heavy" I hope you bring it back and I hope it wasn't what gave you legal trouble.......cause your vids is what brought me to "The Heavy"
he's a borderline evil aquaman with wings on his feet.
Why wasn't Cassandra Cain on the group of people Dick thought of when he thought about heroes who would help him when Harley Quinn and John Constantine were?
I have been reading Nightwing for a long time, these stories are pure awesome
I've never clicked on a video faster! XD

Keep it coming guys.
has this superman made anyone else just smile? idk corny as hell but he just makes me feel good
anything nightwing..
Hey Rob what happened to Thanos quest for the stones? I see you removed it from your channel.
The New52 Nightwing costume is the coolest he's ever looked!
Watching those panels .....mumraa is in DC now
This is one of my favourite rebirth books along with flash and green lanterns
I've been watching a bunch of these now, and I really like your style. I was wondering if you can start adding the Title and Number of the issues covered in each of your reviews so I can go pick up some backs? That would be very helpful. Keep up the good work, love seeing some of these on my favorite heroes like Nightwing.
I ate a bar
Of Kit-Kat that night
Drank some tea to improve my sight
Flock to Rob's channel

Hey. I was curious had the pre-52 super man meet/had a conversation with Wally West yet? I'm kinda excited to see that.
Third World Gamer don't forget Lois & Jonathan
oh yeh! ...lois and jonathan, they came with supes post convergence? I haven't bought or a single comic book in a long time. I mainly try to get updated through channels like this.
but I'm wondering wondering what happened to the Lex Luthor from PRE 52 universe... I haven't read the convergence series or other DCU events in the past.... I'm just guessing here ..but I wouldn't be surprised if he pops at some point in this new 52 universe.... and do a switcheroo with the NEW 52 luthor by killing him in secret.
They are going to meet each other in Titans#7 in january.
Third World Gamer
when will Shazam get his own Rebirth or new Story arc?
For real new 52 shazam was amazing!! As much as people loved it they should do another one
love comics and love this channel
this was such a good issue, my favorite by far
Superman Prime vs Dr.M would be so fucking enjoyable
Bludhaven. Sounds like a place a coven of witches meet once there mensies start syncing up... ~_~
Sounds more like a Vampire City to me!.
I'll admit it. I'm 12. I kept losing it every time superman said something like "Dick! I can't pull you out! You have to come back!"
Especially with Dick's associated grunts and pleas. "HNGH!"
your gonna get a million subs soon
Hey since your giving such high praise to the trinity stories can u do some videos on them I would love to watch the videos of them from you. you do a great job of covering the stories and telling them. keep up the good work bro!

...Does that robot have a mustache???
toatahu2003 Yes, yes it does:)
toatahu2003 Hahaha! Thanks for pointing that out. That made my day!😂👍🏽
Hmmm, you're right, that skull villain is familiar...that's it! SKELETOR!!!
Amazing Video
great break down!
Only reason I dont want Superboy Primes OP ass coming back is because he was stronger than Superman (Pre New 52). I hated that shit. Im good >_>.
Yep.He was at the Top 5 strongest versions of Superman, along with Prime 1 million,Superman pre crisis and Thought Robot.
Why is it bad that a villian is stronger lol?
Wasn't he defeated by a version of Superman?
He was defeated by another version of superman before he got his amp/boost.After he became an adult,he was called Superman Prime and he wore a black suit.+TheGreat Chinook
