I'm loving what they are doing with Nightwing right now. As much as I was hoping that Rebirth was gonna be a complete restart of continuity so that they could retell some of the best stories of Batman with better continuity flow as far as timescale, it's refreshing to see them actually adding to the story of Dick Grayson, who I personally think is better than Batman overall...so the whole concept is really resonating with me. What do you think of the whole way that they break down Nightwing as a Brand Extension of Batman and sort of like a meta commentary on the series itself?
i like this new "walking the line" nightwing. honestly he's been presented as being too much of a good guy that it got old, seeing this and a growing rift between him and the bat family is very refreshing. you dont usually see nightwing on the other side of any conflict of batman

Have to kinda agree with Sal on Nightwing surpassing batman years ago.......Bruce allowed his grief to consume him while dick became batman fought against Gotham the joker, red hood rise his son and somehow kept his humanity throughout that entire experience and then went back to being Nightwing he's everything Bruce could never be.
oh be careful with saying that nightwing surpassed Batman, even though its true, or your going to have a bunch of fanboys going after you. They have a hard time respecting peoples opinions.
I think they are fairly different. I'm a huge fan of Nightwing but I feel like the difference is that Dick is essentially a good person and Bruce isn't, and that's what is most important here.
Honestly I read it myself and disagree with the idea that Dick Grayson is being corrupted. The point was that Dick isn't dark like Bruce and is able to make his own decisions without losing his judgment. The fact that Raptor was manipulating him doesn't change that. More over batman's code is fundamentally wrong in the world he lives in. Sparing criminal when you know they will escape and kill people again is messed up.
My only Argument in this whole video is the fact that Grayson/Nightwing is by far the Best "Fighter" among the Robins. none of the Other "Robins" can best him in Single combat. Also If Dick "Died" it would Destroy Batman, He was ready to kill Luthor for seemingly killing him during Forever Evil.

I mean, where do you begin with the Nightwing and Batgirl romance? It's been going on for some decades now. Short version? Pre new 52 they were in an actual relationship, and we're engaged at some point. They had known each other since they were kids. In the new 52, they were only ever just friends but they always made it very clear that there was more than that. In both of their solo series they have both appeared. And usually Dick makes a speech about how much he loves Barbara and how she's the only one he wants to be with. Again, this is the short version of their relationship. They're also married in several alternate earths. If it wasn't obvious, I ship them. :)

in regards to what was said at the beginning of the video, I would say Nightwing is the exception to Batman's lack of trust in people. Dick Grayson is the only person batman would trust to be batman and funds all of Nightwings actions because he sees him as an equal. I would even go as far as saying that batman cares for him more then any Robin. When Dick Grayson seemingly died in forever evil, batman was very close to killing Lex Luther (a line he seemingly wouldn't cross for anyone). It was only after Luther brought him back that batman had realized what he almost did.

Hey Rob I LOVE your video's. I've always been a marvel fan so hearing you go over the things I was so clear on really made me happy and recently with all the CW DC shows like Arrow and Flash etc. I've become really interested in DC comics. Of course Batman and the Bat-Family are things that even if you don't read the comics the cartoons and games kinda get you up to speed on. However what I really love are all these videos on the "Less" popular characters like Green arrow and flash and green lantern (Yeah I know those aren't realllly less popular but they have less content outside of comics. ) I realize this is going on long so i'll cut to what i want to say. Nope. I think Dick is better than Damian in combat. Sorry, not sorry hate that little shit. Dick is basically Batman's son but not forgetting his humanity and easy going. Batman has his and close relations to ppl like Supes ( in this case new 52 supes who died) he's still somewhat closed off
Miwa Sakata that was Earth 2 Dick Grayson. Funnily enough, he got paralyzed the same way that Barbara did in the main continuity. Haven't check the rest of Earth 2 Society. But he is currently the current Earth 2 Batman despite his injury after Thomas Wayne's death in Convergence.

pre new 52, Dick and Barbara knew each other since they were Batgirl and robin, they didn't start dating until they were oracle and nightwing, so they had a lot of history and knew each other for a long time, they had an on again off again relationship and they were even engaged to each other right before infinite crisis but then in one year later we found out that they broke up and it was never explained why (they wanted to kill off nightwing in infinite crisis and so they just let Dick and Barbara get engaged but since Dick didn't die they didn't actually want Dick and Barbara to get married so they didn't) and then after that they remained friends but still had feeling for each other but they never got back together after infinite crisis. in the new 52 they both had feelings for each other and they both did think about getting together but then decided against it and that's pretty much it, they never dated or anything in the new 52. I actually really liked them as a couple pre new 52, they were adorable, in the new 52, it just wasn't the same, they just didn't really work. They are one of my favorite couples though so if they really did get together in rebirth I'd be okay with that.

I think it was Joker who said it best, when he called The Boy Wonder, "The Boy Hostage". When Dick Grayson ditched the Robin persona & evolved into Nightwing, he started kicking ass. I'm not the biggest DC fan, but they really got it right that time.
About the whole Barbara and Dick thing, if I remember correctly, they have been together on many occasions. In convergence they were married and they have always had this on and off thing where they want to be together but something keeps them appart. It's cute tho

Why don't they ever go into Tim Drake donning the cowl? They always praise his detective & fighting prowess but it seems like fandom pushes who is what. Nightwing is the fan favorite so of course he's next in line. Red Hood has become what he's become because of the initial dislike of him as a Robin so lets make him what would be the polar opposite by having him use guns so make him gun crazy Charles Bronson Batman. Then Damien who at the time had an array of mixed reviews just make him the worst Batman of the bunch even though he's been groomed since inception. But never an example of Tim in cowl.
well it's sorta complicated. the reason why they don't often show tim (they have btw. Just I agree not much) is because he's still young. dick is the most capable to be Batman with both fighting skill and detective skill and is the oldest on top of that he's the most experienced and was the original robin. tim was shown in a possible future as Batman but he was exactly like bruce, cold and lost everything so he didn't want to be like that
Dick Grayson before the events of Zero Hour (I think) was supposed to marry Barbara Gordon. However, it was decided that they were going to kill him off during the event so that was stopped. Then during the event the editor changed their decision and decided he wasn't going to die which left them having to retcon the whole fiance thing for some reason. Dick and Barabara dated on and off after that point until another retcom which left Dick as leaving being Nightwing and infiltrating organized crime and into some sensitive topic areas... Since then Dick and Barabara were "close" but estranged, flirting and seeing each other from time to time or expressing passion for each other but both always pulled away... So if they're getting together again without resolving that it kinda sucks, but finally they got them together as they should be.
+Durakken Actually it was during the Infinite Crisis event when Dick propose her, but DC didn't really planed to go with that, he was going to die in the event and the engament was mean to make his death look a lot more tragic. At the end they didn't killed him, so they retconed the proposition away or something.
I love the fact that DC is taking the best of both worlds....Great creations from New 52 like the Parliament of Owls....And bringing back obscure villains like Kobra. I can see a bright future for DC Comics. They're fun and easy to get into. Whereas Marvel....They truly need some kind of real reboot or make a real effort to get their continuity in line. I know Marvel Cinematic Universe is their main baby right now....But sooner or later, all things come to an end. And if you don't dance with the one that got you to the ball.....There's no one to take you home.

Dick Grayson before the events of Zero Hour (I think) was supposed to marry Barbara Gordon. However, it was decided that they were going to kill him off during the event so that was stopped. Then during the event the editor changed their decision and decided he wasn't going to die which left them having to retcon the whole fiance thing for some reason. Dick and Barabara dated on and off after that point until another retcom which left Dick as leaving being Nightwing and infiltrating organized crime and into some sensitive topic areas... Since then Dick and Barabara were "close" but estranged, flirting and seeing each other from time to time or expressing passion for each other but both always pulled away... So if they're getting together again without resolving that it kinda sucks, but finally they got them together as they should be.
+Durakken Actually it was during the Infinite Crisis event when Dick propose her, but DC didn't really planed to go with that, he was going to die in the event and the engament was mean to make his death look a lot more tragic. At the end they didn't killed him, so they retconed the proposition away or something.

I love the fact that DC is taking the best of both worlds....Great creations from New 52 like the Parliament of Owls....And bringing back obscure villains like Kobra. I can see a bright future for DC Comics. They're fun and easy to get into. Whereas Marvel....They truly need some kind of real reboot or make a real effort to get their continuity in line. I know Marvel Cinematic Universe is their main baby right now....But sooner or later, all things come to an end. And if you don't dance with the one that got you to the ball.....There's no one to take you home.
