I wholeheartedly agree, the luxury, plush ride was a big factor in my decision to purchase a 2023 Santa Fe Highlander Hybrid. I test drove a few other vehicles and the Santa Fe felt so much more smooth and luxurious than comparable Mazda and Toyota SUV's. Twice as good to drive from my perspective, plus nicer tech, cockpit and luxurious appointments. A great car.
I can confirm that with mixed driving the consumption on my Elite Hybrid is 6.9 over 4500kms. Best economy is city and some highway. Long highway trips bump up the consumption. Diesel best for long distance highway cruising and the hybrid best for urban and some highway. Also on highway at 80km/h it will cruise easily on electric only. Anything above and the 1.6 will kick in and help. Great car.
Just had my first month in my new SantaFe here in the UK. It's pretty much like yours (the right hand drive market), and I've found pretty good economy so far. I'm still in the 'running inn' phase so haven't done much power work - I have cruised at 70mph.
Mine is the PHEV - which I only bought because it was available; delivery dates in RHD are very long. I bought this from a dealer who had ordered it a year before as a demonstrator, and I bought it 2 days after he took delivery of it!!
Servicing here is 199GBP for the first three services as part of the new purchase deal - can't fault it.
I've just got out of my Mercedes E220 BlueTec diesel - I am so glad to get away from DPF regen failures, NOX sensor failures which failed every year (so;d it at 8). I am just so happy, and as many will find, the 6-speed 'proper' automatic 'box is just so nice to drive. People report the DCT version as very jerky.
Bear in mind that this is the last year of this car! The new 2024 model is totally different - bigger and more box shaped (looks nice).
You can't factory order these any more - you can only now buy what is in build in RHD. I think the LHD market will also start its run-out manufacturing.
Definitely a good purchase. Here we get 5-year warranty as well from new, plus some additional future benefits if you maintain main dealer servicing.

Thanks for sharing video, we have 2019 model diesel elite, not that economical on fuel, nothing like 6.1, but will keep after your review, as is a good car, and easily pulls our 1200kg caravan.
What are the assumptions you use to calculate fuel costs per year?
I seriously don’t know how Toyota do it. I have a 2023 RAV4 hybrid cruiser and it averages 4.71L. This is not on the dash but worked out at the bowser. Admittedly I only have 926klm on it but that is combined use.

Same! I have a 2020 RAV4 hybrid AWD and average just under 5 litres/100km (best I've achieved is 3.9 over a 35km trip). Toyota are the leaders in hybrid technology and other manufacturers can only dream of achieving the same results - at least at the moment. Only downside for me with the RAV4 is the interior is a little on the bland side, BUT the new RAV4 model has improved this over previous models - just a shame the wait times of up to 2 years exist!
Toyota had a head start on most manufactures.
The 1.6kwa battery costs 11.4k AUD to replace as opposed to the toyota which is 3k AUD - so the battery is very expensive to replace.
Service is 2K plus a year? that seems abit excessive?
No I think that's the fuel costs. Servicing is around $500 per year (or 15,000km).
Service numbers shown was over 5 years as per the manufacturers website.
Interesting they dont make that hybrid eng available in the lower grades like Toyota it seems like its by design so you are forced to spend on useless features eg sunroof bigger tech screen and the list goes on
They are likely taking a hit on the cost of the battery so they need to have you spend extra on other features to make up for it
I owned a santa fe diesel and there was no way it was doing 6/100 combined more like 10.5 city and 7.5 for interstate, and on top of that the worry of regen / dpf always loomed.
I totally agree with fuel consumption , I have the 2019 model, previously owned 2010 model, it was 6 speed auto, 2.2 diesel the same, but much more economical. Don't know what you mean with your final abbreviations?

@@rexhowells7015 regen = particulate filter burn off. dpf = diesel particular filter. I'll never own a diesel - as much as I like them for other reason - and use it as a local city car. They may work ok through warranty but after that sooner or later you're up for issues to do with soot.

My first santa fe, 2010 model I had 9 years, only kne problem low pressure fuel pump on the tank failed, when it was 8 years old.
Traded it in on a new 2019 model, it's been good , but the 2010 model was more economical , and liked the 6 speed auto better than the 8 speed auto in the new one.

Yep avoid this - a year later and the best offer I can get is $41,000 for the Elite Hybrid. One year later this depreciated by $27,000. Stay away!!!!!!
