    We have this car and got it in April. I use it every day and I still have not had to refill the gas tank since driving away from the dealership. You have to own one of these before you can really judge it. This is a great plug-in option if you need more space. The interior is beautiful BTW. We did not have any interest in buying Hyundai and this vehicle changed our minds and gets better every day.

      Not had mine that long either (10 weeks) but conscious that I must stop charging it so that I force it to use 'wet' fuel - otherwise the engine will never run in (you call it 'break in'?). We used to be advised to run in for about 1500 miles, but with regular charging, you may need to double this.....

      @@herrtomas6729also you two, use always lowest ethanol gas you can get. Higher ethanol content will make fuel go bad faster and cause expensive repair if gasoline engine is not used at all. 5% ethanol lasts for 6 months and 10% ethanol 3 months.

    I think considering the fact that Hyundai/Kia started making hybrid vehicles later than Toyota they aren’t doing terrible at all. The next Santa Fe with a new powertrain could very well reach that 40mpg+ range in both Hybrid and EV mode. I must say Hyundai/Kia/Genesis they are killing it, and keeping impressing more can’t wait to see the EV9 out there.
    Nice video, great review thanks for sharing and happy Memorial Day weekend to all.

    *Secret Tip:* If you drive the car in Sport Mode under 2400 RPMs on straightaways, when your battery is running low, you can recharge it much faster than braking and coasting.
    Bring up the "EV" section on the main screen, and make sure the engine is feeding the battery, rather than vice versa, and you'll see the battery percentage rise, fast.

    The level-1 charger CAN charge in 5hours if you set it right! (from 15%-100%)
    Default, it shows 6A charge rate, but you can hold the button for about 3 seconds, then step through the charge rates from 6-8-10A (some markets 12A as well) to charge faster.
    Had my new SantaFe PHEV for just a week, and found this.....

    Love this review! Thank you. Would you suggest this (phev limited) over a regular gas (SEL premium) option if I can lease it for only $30 more monthly than the regular SEL premium…? For context, I drive majority in town/some highway to work but abt 15 miles a day And on weekends I do longer drives abt 130 miles over some weekends round trip. My question is how much better is a phev- I’ve only had regular gas cars up until now. Is the plug in concept annoying and high maintenance? And would I be saving on gas with the plug in if the alternative right now is a regular gas premium trim? And is it a pain to get set up with a plug in? Do I need special equipment? Sorry sooo many questions.

    Yay buttons! I love buttons! Is it possible to get too much of a good thing though? I bought the Rav4 Prime because it has the best EV capabilities of all of the PHEV’s, but if you need 3 rows and AWD this seems like a nice option. I’d be looking at the Mazda CX 90 PHEV too.

    I agree, the SF PHEV is a little under-developed compared to the RAV4 PHEV (AMD/Car Care Nut came to the same conclusion); the sweet spot would be the regular hybrid. TBH, I'm curious what the all new 2024 SF will bring about.

    What are your thoughts on this car vs the Mitsubishi Outlander? Those 2 seem to be the leaders in this area, particularly given that Rav4 Primes are on a massive wait list and quite a bit smaller in terms of cargo space.

    I have a ‘22 plug-in Limited. I LOVE it. BUT. It has had a check engine light for its entire 25kish miles for an engine misfire that they are unable to diagnose. It causes the drivetrain to intermittently shutter and feel like the DS front tire is way out of balance or going flat. A month ago the fixed portion of the glass roof shattered for no reason on the highway and she is still sitting under a tarp waiting for the new glass to arrive here in Maine and I have been stuck in a rental American minivan. This has made me realize how spoiled I am by Hyundais amazing driver assistance technology. I love that vehicle.

    I leased this car on the last day of June and even with a few longer trips (60+ miles roundtrip), I didn't have to fill up my tank (it was actually 1/4 full still) until the end of August. My commute to work is less than 30 miles and it's basically all city driving (lots of stop lights). If that's all I do in a day, it's pretty much all electric and very little gas used. Because of this commute, I'm averaging over 150mpg according to my gauges. When I filled up the SUV, it said I would be getting over 600 miles with the gas based on my driving habits. I had the fully gas Santa Fe before this and was getting low 20s in mpg. Gas prices out here in CA are $4-$6 per gallon. The figures you see on Hyundai stickers about gas savings are based on about $2.50 per gallon gas prices. Anyway, this car for me has been outstanding. With solar panels on our house, the electric car is a no brainer and I only wish I would have gone this route sooner. I'm not sure a hybrid (non plug-in) would be better for my situation.

    • @Lili23304
      @Lili23304 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for my ignorance… but I have a similar situation were my daily commute is short so for main usage I would probably be using electric- and few times a month I drive to see my parents so that’s farther- about 65miles each way. But it’s not the majority of my driving.
      My ignorant question is if you have solar, does that make it free charging or just super low? Sorry I just don’t know much about solar or EVs…

    I'm in California and I've had my eye on this since it came out. I wish there was a Calligraphy version of the plug-in. Virtually all of my driving is less than 20 miles round trip, with the local grocery stores only about 10 miles round trip, so this would be *perfect*. Unfortunately our local dealers ask ridiculous ADM, plus as you said, no tax credit (not that I think my neighbors should be helping me to pay for my car, but if Uncle Sam wants to provide these credits, I'll find something that qualifies - hopefully).

    • @knowledgeapplied
      @knowledgeapplied ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Clean Vehicle Rebate Project (CVRP) in CA offers a tax credit for this vehicle.
      Also, there are plenty of dealers in CA who will sell this one at the MSRP with no markup.
      The 30 miles of range is well worth it to never have to fill up on gas, all year.

      @jsfbay1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@knowledgeapplied Thank you very much for this information. As you say, it is eligible. It doesn't appear obvious how much of a credit I would receive though, I just see a range of $1k-$6k.

    Bought a new Santa Fe Hybrid 5 weeks ago. Stalled on me Two weeks ago, and would not start. They can’t figure out what is wrong with it. Totally ruined my summer so far, because I need my roof rack and trailer hitch for all the outside stuff I do, and the loaner vehicle Santa Cruz they let me use, is no where the vehicle the Santa Fe is, of course that is when it was running. The plug in was available here in Central NY.
