As a Canadian golfer and fan, I couldn't be happier for Nick. At the same time, I'm sad for Tommy because he is such a classy person and had a couple of chances to end it. I think he might have lost because he looked a bit tight and was hitting irons and generally playing not to lose vs. playing to win. But if he keeps playing like this, he'll win one soon!
Yep, there's a reason why such talented guys like Tommy don't win as much as they should. It is very hard to stay loose with that much pressure. We play in front of 3 other players and maybe for a skin or a $5 nassau, and it's not easy to close it out. Imagine with millions of people watching and a couple million on the line. It's the trophy though that clenches up these guys butts. Two chances to close it out -- you cannot give the other guy a chance to win. It's like they forget how to play on Sunday sometimes.
As a mexican rooting for the canadians all the tournament and in the end Nick having the chance to win in a dramatic play off had me on the edge of my seat. What a WIN!!
Nick Taylor has definitely got the fight and game to go all the way to the top! Canada have more than a few pros coming through into the major title picture, but Nick looks ready to step up. I reckon he deserved the win as he was 15 under par over the weekend! What a spectacular way to win a playoff, (even though there was an element of luck involved) he was positive enough to get the ball TO THE HOLE!
Canadian golf is on a real high. They've got some very good players who have actually featured at the top of the leaderboard in majors recently like Corey connors, Mackenzie Hughes and Adam Svensson. I know mike weir won a major in the early 2000's but this is a strong era. Corey conners is probably going to get much stronger yet.

That was one of the greatest clutch putts in the last 50 years. Seemed like neither wanted to win it for a minute with those first three playoff holes.

It's tempting to say that it was a lucky putt, but he was in a zone for two days. It was a little bit of luck and a whole lot of talent and determination.
Fleetwood's caddie being too risk adverse on the 18th in regulation cost him his first PGA Tour win. All the golf reporters and former pros said Fleetwood could easily have hit a 5 wood out of the rough because the lie was good, but his caddie talked Tommy into laying up and he laid up into the rough with a terrible lie when he could have hit 5 wood and got much closer to the green. Terrible advice.
Well done Nick! RBC certainly dropped the ball in not preparing their security. I mean, getting doused with champagne is kinda normal, and Hadrin and the others obviously were cleared to be inside the ropes already. Kinda sucked seeing that.

Isn't it a penalty when you hit the flag stick when putting a ball that lies on the green? The first thing I thought when I saw that is he hit the flag stick. At the very least, there would have been another playoff hole, but if Tommy made his putt he would be the champion in that case.

Assuming you’ve never played the course because it is private and reserved for elite amateur or professional tournaments only outside of the member play , I would see why you would make this statement. I played in the Ontario amateur better ball championships here and it is an extremely difficult course,to make birdies or eagle on 18 or 9 . It wasn’t sloppy it was an epic battle on an extremely difficult golf course. The eagle putt to win it was epic. Hope you enjoy your day. Cheers 🍻

Tommy Fleetwood is one of the most gracious and classy people on the tour. He lost to a 72 foot put and actually looked happy for Nick.
