If it's heavy clay, it could be a problem, I always recommend that the soil gets improved by adding organic material and grit , you need to do this over time, the other way is to remove the clay to form a planting hole and back fill with some good stuff, is it heavy clay?
@upatgrassybottom9859 not heavy heavy but more like in this order clay loam sandy . So I could dig big holes and plant my perennials with compost, gravel and mix a little with a small amount of my natural soil?
@@upatgrassybottom9859 yes it has plants in already, some red phormiums and some nerium oleander. I'm just skeptical about prennials like lavender, sage etc in that type of soil
