I just want to thank you for this video. It was such a wonderful source of serotonin while I was feeling rough and down, and I'll probably dream of wandering your back yard and reading by your pond for a while. This is absolutely my ideal sort of property to live on. I also want to want to express that it brought me great joy when you named every species you showed and talked about them a little bit, and how you followed the experiences of the animals. I could really feel how much you loved wildlife and understand the balance of nature with a healthy respect. Bonus that all the contractors who helped you at the start of this were so wholesome and sweet and invested in your little joys as well: the buckets of moss gave me secondhand delight to see they had collected it all for you!
Next summer will be my third year, I live on old old marshland in Norway and my Garden is thriving so much. Surprisingly so! Also making a tiny pond myself. This was very cool, and also alot of inspiration! Thanks 😊 🎉 It's the most wonderful thing.

You ever have that moment when you see a story like Tanner's and you think? I am so lazy... this guy is amazing, not only for himself but for the entire eco system around his home. I now want to build a pond.... :)
Great job Tanner. No criticism from me. I appreciate how you've designed this ecosystem and how you've treated the wildlife that have chosen to live there.
This was fantastic. My son is currently in the process and sent me a video of the current state of things. He’s bought a used a tractor with digger attachment. He’s reached the point all lines, pumps and filters have been placed, backfilled in and all of the black liner is secured. It is now officially a waterfall into a meandering stream down to a pond. It is officially running. His focus is turtles but of course fish and all of what inhabits the nature in his surroundings. I’ve sent this to him as I’m sure he can learn a great deal from this. Pitfalls to avoid for sure, and ideas he’s not thought of. Thank you for sharing your beautiful tribute to nature.
Seeing the whole evolution so far is so cool! What a beautiful evolution. This also reminds me that good things take time. Saying the algae equilibrium can take 3 years was just one example of how you remind me to have patience to cultivate things and get to equilibrium.
Congrats! What an oasis! I absolutely love all the details that have taken shape so far, and I can’t help but offer a few gentle suggestions from my sheer excitement: adding flowers, lavender, colorful ferns, small bushes around and below the deck, and rose bushes to the sides would be a brilliant touch-it’ll bring more color, fragrance, and harmony to the space while enhancing privacy for all kinds of animals. The added greenery will also attract more wildlife, like birds and butterflies, making it feel even more like a nature retreat. Consider also adding back support for the benches (with ornate armrests) and end tables for extra comfort during inevitable s’mores nights, morning coffee, or afternoon teas-whether alone or with company! Maybe some ivy or wisteria for the swing set and/or a covering would add even more charm and texture, creating a cozy, dreamy atmosphere, even in the rain. Another idea is planting a Royal Jasmine tree near the door or at the end of the deck. Its strong aroma not only repels mosquitoes, flies, and wasps, but it’s also perfect for balconies or gardens, letting everyone enjoy sunny days outside without the hassle of pesky insects. You could also consider adding fruit trees, a bee hive, a chicken coop area, or a vegetable/herb garden to the side areas, all while keeping a green area and clear view to see the deer. The potential for this space is just incredible! I can already imagine how beautiful and peaceful it is as it is. Way to go on this-I’m completely inspired! Best of luck with your vision; it’s such an amazing spot!!
What a wonderful way to spend an hour and 18 minutes. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed see the amazing work that you’ve done and am awed by your ability to envision this. What you’ve created is something magical. The beauty is in the minute details. And I love moss too!!!

This was a wild ride, man! I just put this video on for my short lunchbreak as a background, not realising how long it is and that I will end up watching a David Attenborough style documentary about frogs, birds, bees, snakes and whatnot 😂 It was absolutely brilliant, heart warming and kinda chicken soup for the soul. I love ponds and waterfalls and I love watching terrain transformations that not only bring tranquility but create incredible ecosystems on their own and draw back so much wildlife. I’m hoping to in future see more of it ❤

To have a pond and frogs in my yard would be a dream. I’ve had a pond in my backyard for 9 yrs but nobody to dig it in my ground. Hopefully one day I might get to have a small piece of the heaven he has created.❤
As a native gardener and diver from Australia, I love what you've done, and I adored every minute of seeing your journey. Thank you for the happiness, lessons learnt and vicarious sense of achievement. I have heard that putting a pond in your garden, even if it's just a bucket, is the most positive thing you can do for helping your native ecosystem - watching your vid helps me appreciate me how that actually works. I can't wait to see year 2. Yeah, there are a few things that I would've done differently: like: 1. I would've used the cheap man made materials for all the under the water stuff and reserved those huge, gorgeous natural rocks for only shallow water and above ground use, so I could look at them every day. 2. I would've seeded the rhs with natives for an initial pollinator/wildlife garden, that was heavy on sedges for nutrient filtration and soil stability. That's coming from the perspective of someone who hates physically mowing, especially on a slope, and despises the concept of lawns for ecological, moral, and aesthetic reasons. But my quibbles mean literally nothing when compared to you actually doing something that looks great, you love, fulfils your purpose, and, also provides a habitat for native frogs and other wildlife. "Don't let perfect become the enemy of good." My Mum, a frustrated artist, now adores plants, yeah sure, but has started zeroing in on natural rocks, mosses, and lichens as the most perfect level of art and beauty. After years of bushwalking with her, I've picked up some heavy appreciation, too. For example, when playing "would you rather," Mum always chooses a big lichened, mossened, ferned, orchid laden rock over owning "A Girl with a Pearl Earring", one of the top 5 artworks that actually makes her hesitate for some seconds. But even when I take away the orchids and ferns from the mix, she still makes the same decision. Natural rock, moss, and lichens wins as the most beautiful thing in the world, in her eyes. Honestly, she's not wrong. As an Australian, you add flowing water, and I'm euphorically captivated.
My favorite video on TH-cam this year. Thanks for the journey.

I loved this. I was in pain and slowly drifted to a light sleep enjoying your journey every once in a while opening my eyes to see the different froggies and your transformation. Stunning. What a beautiful project. Thanks for sharing
This is one of the very best TH-cam videos I've seen in a long time. Thank you so much for making this.
Tanner said "other channel" I said "OTHER CHANNEL????"
Instant abo😂
Me too.
SAME!
SAME!
RIGHT?!
I could not click fast enough
Been WAITING for long form content on this channel. When i found it empty i had a feelig thats what his plan was for it in the future. Im so happy ☺️
I took a hiatus on it because I didn't want it to end up being the same as the SD. Have some awesome stuff in the works for it!
@@TannerSerpa can't wait man! I've been a solid fan since I started watching ya 4 years ago during covid. Never been disappointed with the content u put out!!
I wouldn't care what others think either to be honest. It's your home, your life and you're the one who has to deal with everything. We should be grateful that you even shared this journey with us. I for one love what you have done, and the process was really awesome. Goldfish are beautiful fish and why not enjoy them on a larger scale? Here's to watching future builds. Tyfp.
Absolutely delightful! Your documentary about your yard was simply captivating. Thank you for sharing.
Thank for this epic video!! Your story telling is flawless and it is such a pleasure to see it all together after watching each part of the series over the last year and a half.
I could have watched this the entire day. The incredible life cycle of the pond and your soothing voice makes this one of my favourite videos to watch of 2024 🙌🏻
Like a National Geographic documentary. Thank you for so much thoughtfulness and detail in your videos. Fantastic work, and pond!
Not me crying over a pond video 😂❤❤❤ that frog segment got me. I hope your frog buddy is resting peacefully under his tree 😢
Thanks 😊
🎉
It's the most wonderful thing.
So incredible! As a contractor, I can't believe the work and money you had to put into this. The results are so incredible! I absolutely love it❤❤
I think the world of story tellers, and want to thank you for taking the time to tell us about this magnificent project and putting in the effort to show us the interconnections of this magical world you have envisioned and brought forth into reality.
this video is very comforting to listen to. not to mention informative.
You ever have that moment when you see a story like Tanner's and you think? I am so lazy... this guy is amazing, not only for himself but for the entire eco system around his home. I now want to build a pond.... :)
true and one look at his no fat body I know I'm lazy. we better stick to watching the videos hahaha
It's amazing, I remember when you built your first pond for the fish, your parents pond, your frog passing, and the beginning of this beautiful set up. Nature is amazing, it is always growing changing, and teaching us something new. As someone who has been a follower on both of your channels for a while you should be proud. Look at how you have grown, surpassing what even you thought you could do. People forget that life is like a pond, it's about the journey not the end result. I digress, but am ever thankful for you taking me along on your journey.
It's beautiful! You've got me daydreaming of having my own pond, someday!
Between you and Ants Canada, you have ignited a new hobby and passion. Whilst I don't have the money to own any sort of space of my own, these videos and others gives me something to aim for. And for now, I will just enjoy my new Paludarium/Terrarium/ Vivarium hobby. I am currently torn between starting with Poison Darts or Gecko's.
I love both your channels and they are not only an inspiration to me, but a great way to relax and remove stress. Thanks for all the effort you and others put in and thanks for bringing a new joy into my life at the ripe old age of 40, and thanks for being such a positive influence on nature.
All the best Serpa
You did an incredible job catching all the important moments with the wildlife. Thank you, I found myself with a huge smile & warmth in my heart as I watched.❤😊
This is one of the most relaxing and enjoyable videos I have seen in years, thank you for this.
i am deeply grateful for this video. thank you so much for putting in the hard work it takes to film, edit & produce a video like this; it's incredibly soothing, engaging, and inspiring
The world is going crazy but this video brought me so much peace.
Mesmerised from beginning to end. A dream garden l have always loved frogs.
This is by far the most mezmerizing and in the moment video I have had the pleasure to watch. Thank you for the relaxing and educational video.
This is so great! I'm thankful I happened upon it by accident. Fantastic camera work, narration and evident care and appreciation for all our fellow creatures. Knowing how much life you've enabled in your backyard must feel amazing. Thanks for making this!
you have no idea how much I am enjoying watching this, its an absolute smorgasbord. Thank you so much for sharing all your hard work, watching the progress is so satisfying as well as comforting. i think its because it reminds me of my childhood watching my father at work with some project or another. There is nothing I love more than progress and then watching your creativity and love of wildlife. Brilliant!
Great video! Nature is beautiful. A blissful hour and 13 minutes. Thank you!
Oh man, I was exhausted after a shift, I'm a careworker. Usually I pick something to play in the background while I relax before getting ready for bed. However I was pleasantly surprised and truly loved this episode. Thank you for this ❤
The fact that you built this in a place where it snows makes it so much more beautiful. Seeing the pond frozen over is like having a whole second pond
What an absolutely delightful presentation a lot of work, but you've done an amazing job and bought so much pleasure and joy to us watching your love for nature and your little frogs is apparent and contagious carry on you're doing an amazing job. Thank you again continue to share with us.❤😂
I watched this whole video - absolutely incredible. It’s my dream garden! 😊
I’m getting Ants Canada vibes and I love it! ❤❤❤
I've always heard that raccoons and heron can decimate a fish pond, so I was glad to hear that you purposely planned hiding places for your fish! Also love how you created a little vernal pool to shelter your frog eggs. I also appreciate how thoughtful you are about your choices and how you explained about the cowbird egg, as I would probably have removed it.
Thank you so much, what a beautiful documentary. Your attention to detail, commitment to nature, observation and camera and editing skills are amazing. Beautifully done, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
I can't believe I just got sucked into this for over an hour. That was amazing to watch. Very inspiring and you're very talented. Keep it up!
I’m hoping to in future see more of it ❤
This is absolutely amazing. The actual creation as well as the documentary. ❤
This is one of the most beautiful documentaries. I've ever seen. This deserves an award for sure. Thank you so much for sharing.
Super documentaire, très hâte de voir la suite !
I loved seeing and hearing your considerations along the way. I'm SUPER jealous of the beautiful space you've created! #goals
what a hidden gem, this puts David Attenborough and national geographic to shame. What an amazing storyteller and videographer you are.
Not to shame, I’d say it’s right up there with theirs!
What a fascinating video Tanner...I didn't think I'd be sitting through the entire 1h18m, but here I am at the end with a big smile on my face having enjoyed every minute of it. You are a wonderful story teller, and what you've done is absolutely amazing and beautiful, not only for all of the inhabitants of your oasis, but for humans alike. :)
What a marvelous project an documentary. Mesmerizing. Thank you for it, all.
Yeah, there are a few things that I would've done differently: like:
"Don't let perfect become the enemy of good."
My Mum, a frustrated artist, now adores plants, yeah sure, but has started zeroing in on natural rocks, mosses, and lichens as the most perfect level of art and beauty.
Just a fabulous video and your yard transformation is outstanding 👍👍👍
