Yea well nice to have memories kind of like mine of NY when I was growing up. But sadly it along with the old Daytona beach don't exist any longer except in our minds. You’re lucky Rick as you’re a local Florida boy who went a lot more than I did. But my first real trip to Daytona Beach back in 1988 right before I was discharged from the Army. I know 5 yrs ago in 2018, the open area by the pier was an amusement park until they had a terrible accident on the rollercoaster with tourists from Kentucky.😢
When you go to Clearwater, hubby and I recommend pelican pointe. The rooms are relatively inexpensive and they are right across the street from the beach. And sandys bar and grill has amazing food.
I've spent many a summer on Daytona Beach! The pier and boardwalk was a lot if fun. We would drive down from Boston. Been quite awhile since I've been there though, I miss that beach 😞
I've alway's thought that a Sky Wheel Ferris Wheel would be nice for Daytona Beach like what they have for Orlando,Myrtle Beach and Atlantic City.I was at Myrtle Beach in January last year and the hotels off season was super cheap there, the weather was obviously cooler but nice, usually sunny in the high 50s,low 60s.
Daytona is right next door to Jacksonville where I live but I haven't explored Daytona Beach yet, just drive through. After watching your video I have desire to explore it now 🙂👍
Pretty good. However, I am a dedicated Daytona Beach person as I love it here. I would have mentioned how clear the water is also how nice and blue the ocean is here. Also, how there are SO MANY Pelicans here!!! Also, how amazing the varying colors are in the clouds formations during the evening as the sun sets. I've never seen such amazing could formations here...and again...the amount of Pelicans as they glide prehistorically all along the coast line both having fun gliding and also looking for some delicious seafood! One last thing...and it's an amazing "thing".....the beach is like Rick said...a nice soft hard-pack, and here is the great thing...is that the beach is quite flat and this flatness goes out into the ocean for a really long ways...therefore it is shallow for a long way out, and the water is a clean clear blue color and very clear from the beach all the way out. The water is almost always very mellow and great for kids, even really young kids. I just love how clear and blue the Atlantic Ocean is here.
