Hiya, I think it's by a company called sew easy but it's just a generic quilting ruler
Why not use chalk to mark? More visible on black and easy to erase.

you can use and type of foam or even fusible fleece. my preferred choice is style-vil

I've used mora faux leather with quilting cotton. Most things I buy from Sew Hot, they'll have everything you need
