For pieces that I want to fussy cut, I make a template out of the clear cutting mats from Dollar Tree (found in the kitchen section). They last forever, you can see right through them, and you can trace them accurately. If you want to account for the seam allowances, you can draw them on the piece with a sharpie.
    Very nice video!

I do the same thing only with a heavy duty clear vinyl I buy by the roll. The only problem I've had is it can be a little slippery.

This is a fantastic method on the Harlequin and I plan on using this with the same Alexander Henry fabric...my favorite and I get a lot of requests for it. Technically however, this is just overlay and a topstitch, not a y-seam. Video title should be faux Y-seam, but that' just my grammar/wordsmithing lol. Thank you for the video, love the information it contained.

I have used your method so many times and it works every time. So easy to do.

OMG...!!! Love this technique for a Y seam. Thank you so much for sharing this method....!!!!
PS.... Understand completely how you never seem to have all the hardware needed for a bag. Or in my case I have odds 'n ends that are not the same tones to use in one bag. I have to find a better method for ordering hardware. THANK YOU again..!

I use decovil light for some of my vinyl. So far works for me and it doesn’t distort the vinyl (disclaimer) that’s works for me.

Instead of cutting out a window in the pattern there is an easier way, trace the pattern on a transparent place mat and cut out the pattern, that way you can see exactly where you want to center the design since you have created a transparent template from a place mat.

I laminate all my pattern pieces to make them stronger and for fussy cutting I put an empty laminating sheet through heat machine then trace and cut my pattern piece from that. I can now see exactly where to place the pattern template.

I don’t have a video on that but I just made a strap and topstitched it to the bag back… the D ring is at the top and the bottom of the strap is included in the bottom seam of the bag… hope this helps..❤️
