From my work in a pharmacy (and preparation of a lot of antibiotic syrup) I can give a tip. Mix the powder with an eighth of the amount of liquid in the container. Even a tablespoon or 2 will do. After the powder is well absorbed and is no longer visible - only then add the rest of the liquid. It works, always.
Age 76 with knee pain and degeneration for 20+ of that. Started Orgain collagen from Costco 3 weeks ago. After a couple weeks I bent my knees to the sidewalk and when l got back up I noticed my knees were not screaming at me like they had any other time in the past 20 yrs. I think it was because of the collagen.

And once again, after decades, we were confused as sisters when we went out together. I’m 69. She’s 43. TJ’s collagen is grass fed bovine and MCT oil derived. It is sweetened with stevia leaf.

She was right. After 6 months my skin and joint pain including my hair has grown like nwvwr before. My skin has plumped and lines have soften. I guess certain products don't always work for everyone
Well timed. I’ve been looking at amping up my collagen with a power form but just got so overwhelmed with what was on the market . Thank you for doing a deep dive.
Hi! Really interesting video. My only question is - what would be the ideal dosage of collagen per day? Does it depend on weight/height/age or are there absolute values?
Thank you for demystifying all of this for us. And thank you for suggesting the brands that you did and the why's behind the choices. Now I am ready to shop.
I am curious of what you think about capsule form. I've been taking a capsule form for about five years, for joint joint health but notice how much healthier my hair and nails are. Am I getting any benefits for my joints or just for my hair, skin and nails. Also, what does type III, IV mean?
The capsules just have a much smaller amount of milligrams vs a full scoop or two. Some studies show that 10-40 milligrams are needed for joint benefits. So at least ten mg daily is good, that's the amount I take.
I notice you did not discuss the Types of collagen. The brand I am using now, ForestLeaf, has Types I, II, and III. Could you address that in your future Q&A?
The one I use is hydrolyzed, and has all types, too. I used Vital Proteins at first, until I started researching hydrolyzed had better absorption, so I switched.
I have been taking a scoop of Ancient Nutrition Multi-Collagen supplement everyday in my coffee/chocolate/milk. I’ve been taking this for the last 2yrs since I had meniscus tear where I was told that I needed surgery, but with prayers and I guess with the collagen supplement, my meniscus got restored (of course physical therapy helped a lot too). It was my first time to see your video today, the 1st one was the drug store skin products . Thank you for doing these helpful videos.
Hi! Great video! I never thought to use a milk frother to help blend the powder so thanks for that tip! I like to freeze my drinks, making them into a slushie like consistency; does freezing a collagen powder mixed drink negatively effect the efficacy of it?
Thanks much for this! I have been trying to understand for awhile whether or not to take collagen and if so which, and this answers both, saving me and no doubt others LOTS of time and money!
I have been using Native Path collagen since September 2021 and it has significantly eased my arthritic knee pain. I am really bad at recognizing changes in skin and wrinkles but I think there's been some improvement. Are the powders you reviewed effective for joints as well as skin? Which Vital Protein version would you recommend for skin and joints? What about the effectiveness of Sparkle on joint health?
Hi, I just subscribed to your channel. The information you are providing is useful and saves everyone money and time eliminating research on products. 🔷I have a question about bovine ingredients. You mentioned that bovine ingredients should be grass fed. My question is shouldn't bovine grass fed ingredients also be grass finished and are there any collagen products that are both grass fed and grass finished? My understanding is that grass fed is only the best product when it is also grass finished.
The collagen powder I use was recommended by my naturopath : Great Lakes. Been putting it in my daily smoothie or take it in any liquid. It has no smell and no taste and dissolves easily. I also take hyaluronic acid in a capsule daily. Been taking that supplement for 17 years. Amazing product with great results for my joints and skin.
For Part 3: could you describe the improvements on the skin when taking collagen supplements week by week? Thank you for mentioning Vital Proteins since it’s a brand we can also find in Europe
WOW-so informative! Thanks for the work you put into these videos. My question is- I was taking the blue Vital Protein but would switch to the Professional version. What did I wanted joint advantage + skin/hair/nails? Can you take both versions???
Thank you for this and all your videos. My question is how much of the supplement should be taken? Is once a day enough or should we have it more? Thank you in advance for your answer to this.
Love your channel! Thank you for this in-depth look at collagen supplements! Are there any pills that are recommended as well? Will have to give this a try. Thanks!!
I can say that the non favour one tastes a bit fishy. I had this kind of power form which made in Japan Meiji. It is not easy to get in Uk so I will give a try to your recommendations
Hi 👋 you recommended the brand Sparkle which has hyaluronic acid in it. I recently started taking hyaluronic acid oral supplements and applying it topically. Would using these 3 items (powder, serum, and supplements) be to much hyaluronic acid? Thanks in advance!
I’ve been using Vital proteins, but just ordered SR brand so we’ll see. Helps with my joint pain. Do you think the bioavailability of any of the components is affected by the heat in coffee? Is it helpful to eat anything with collagen and HA, like a healthy fat or anything to increase absorption?
Do you have a video on pill form? I am using a Weber collagen and have noticed my nails are so much stronger and skin is looking good over 55. Thx enjoy your videos

I heard caffeine halts collagen production but I don't know by how much. i should probably stop drinking these energy drinks even though they have zero sugar and only 10 cals I am probably wasting my money on the collagen supplements if the caffeine cancels it out 🤣
Hi Doc, thanks for your channel. Having chosen a good quality collagen, what are the best ways to take the powdered collagen plz? Is it useful to add it while cooking or will that destroy it? Shall I just dissolve it in water and drink it?
I ordered the Vital Proteins professional bioactive collagen complex and cannot wait to begin using the project. I have used the Vital Proteins in the blue container and really saw improvement with the growth of stronger nails and joint pain relief. I appreciate your analysis and love your channel. I wish you continued success!!
Yes! I came here to ask the same thing. I just can't stomach the powders - every brand I've tried tastes nasty to me. I've been using the pills but definitely wondering if they are as effective.
I would think the capsules are the same because they just put the collagen powder in the capsule. Hopefully she answers, because I’d like to know. I bought collagen capsules a few weeks ago. But I also want a collagen for my skin! Oh and is there anything in the product that increases estrogen or progesterone? Looking forward to hearing back from you! Thanks!
Collagen supplements don't work. At best they are just like any other good protein source. A balanced diet with all the essential amino acids (from proteins) is all you need. Eg, an egg is much cheaper but is equal or better than these collagen products as a protein source.
Dr. I used collagen supplement vital protein ( marine ) it was good for pains but after few weeks my face developed allergy n red pimples started appearing especially on the chin sides , experienced constipation too
My question is regarding the different types of collagen. (Type I, II, III...) - and the uses. And is there 1 comprehensive good brand to take? In addition, do we need higher supplementation as we age? and finally - I 2nd the question about Ancient Nutrition brand (listed below)
I was eagerly awaiting this video, finally it's here! I'll definitely give these a try, I've been interested in trying collagen supplements ever since your original video. What do you think about collagen capsules? Is it equivalent to powder?

I know it takes guts to get in front of a camera and put yourself out there for any and all to see… but please keep it up-just wanted you to be aware of how the delivery is landing for some people…. ☺️
Can we appreciate her beautiful energy and motivation to do all those reserche ❤️

I'm currently in menopause I'm 57, with that being said my skin, hair overall has taken a beating any suggestions for me would be appreciated, I will give some of your recommendations a try, thanks
Thanks so much for all your research and testing, much appreciated ❣️🤩👏👏👏
And to think I have 100 units of botox left. Guess I'll use them for monthly headaches. Sparkle is fabulous!
I take Vital protein for 2 years and didn't see any change in anything. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. My dermatologist told me marine collagen is better for the skin rather then bovine. She was right. After 6 months my skin and joint pain including my hair has grown like nwvwr before. My skin has plumped and lines have soften. I guess certain products don't always work for everyone
What brand of marine collagen are you using?
@@janschreck5304 vital protein makes one make sure it says marine collagen. Also Dr Axe's brand
@@mom4life513
Great. Which of these two has worked for you ?
May I ask which one you use? 🌹
NO collagen supplement can get past stomach digestive acids and reach
the skin. So all the collagen supplements are nothing but expensive urine.
Well timed. I’ve been looking at amping up my collagen with a power form but just got so overwhelmed with what was on the market . Thank you for doing a deep dive.
So good my lips are up before he is😅🤩🤪
Hi! Really interesting video. My only question is - what would be the ideal dosage of collagen per day? Does it depend on weight/height/age or are there absolute values?
What are the side effects from taking collagen supplements?
Thank you for demystifying all of this for us. And thank you for suggesting the brands that you did and the why's behind the choices. Now I am ready to shop.
Whole food is always the best source of nutrition... the ego mind always want a short cut... =)
I am curious of what you think about capsule form. I've been taking a capsule form for about five years, for joint joint health but notice how much healthier my hair and nails are. Am I getting any benefits for my joints or just for my hair, skin and nails. Also, what does type III, IV mean?
My question also. Have not tried these but would prefer a capsule.
The capsules just have a much smaller amount of milligrams vs a full scoop or two.
Some studies show that 10-40 milligrams are needed for joint benefits. So at least ten mg daily is good, that's the amount I take.
You could probably put the powder into your own capsules. Just fill up capsules that are a scoops worth.
What are the pills you would recommend for collagen
I use Whole Body Collagen from Designs for Health. It’s expensive, but it contains Verisol, Fortigel and Fortibone for skin, joints and bone.
Also just look for Halal bovine collagen. All halal meat is grass fed
I notice you did not discuss the Types of collagen. The brand I am using now, ForestLeaf, has Types I, II, and III. Could you address that in your future Q&A?
Verisol collagen is type I and III only.
The one I use is hydrolyzed, and has all types, too. I used Vital Proteins at first, until I started researching hydrolyzed had better absorption, so I switched.
@@yellowrose13 True, but I would love for her to discuss the various types.
And I had seen another dermatologist recommend types I, II, III, IV AND X
@@daynad8104hello! Which one did you happen to switch to?
Can you use both Vital Proteins? The one in the pink lettering and the second one for bone and joint health
There’s still a big clump in your lemonade:)
Hi! Great video! I never thought to use a milk frother to help blend the powder so thanks for that tip! I like to freeze my drinks, making them into a slushie like consistency; does freezing a collagen powder mixed drink negatively effect the efficacy of it?
finally, a super-sensible presentation on the topic - thanks
Love this video! Do you know if we are able to prepare a few bottles ahead of time? Or would it diminish the efficacy of the product?
Good question
Thanks much for this! I have been trying to understand for awhile whether or not to take collagen and if so which, and this answers both, saving me and no doubt others LOTS of time and money!
I have been using Native Path collagen since September 2021 and it has significantly eased my arthritic knee pain. I am really bad at recognizing changes in skin and wrinkles but I think there's been some improvement. Are the powders you reviewed effective for joints as well as skin? Which Vital Protein version would you recommend for skin and joints? What about the effectiveness of Sparkle on joint health?
Would like to know this as well.
ME TOO!
Yes, pill version for skin and joints would be helpful! Also for retirement budget!
Native path collagen
People be asking stupid questions. Do your own research.
What about the Sparkle collagen capsules? Are they just as effective as the powder? Thanks.
Powder is usually better.
This video made me subscribe. Not having this be sponsored is huge, thank you so much...going to buy one of these now! ❤️
I take Dr.Livingood Collagen plus Multi...it's delicious and made right!!
I noticed you didn't review skinny fit. Can you tell us if you would recommend this? Thank you.
I would love to see some before and after pictures after consistent use. 🙏🏼
Its my understanding that hot liquids will interfere with effectiveness of bioactives
What are your thoughts on liquid collagen as opposed to the hydrolized powders?
Hey, is Swisse collagen good?. It's per serving hydrolysed collagen content is just 833mg.
833mg is too low. The classic Vital Proteins has 20,000mg per serving.
Hi there. Which hyaluronic supplant do you use? Thank you in advance
@@sararichardson737 hi
I’ve been happy with Doctor’s Best hyaluronic acid with chondroitin sulphate
@@MadameX_ much appreciated.
@@sararichardson737 you’re welcome
@@MadameX_ where can I buy this?
Does it matter what form of collagen you take? Gummies? Powder/liquid?
For Part 3: could you describe the improvements on the skin when taking collagen supplements week by week? Thank you for mentioning Vital Proteins since it’s a brand we can also find in Europe
holland & Barrett have a very good brand!
I just bought some bone broth - I sure hope it helps!
@@lillyanaaaz okay
Personally, I have fewer wrinkles around the eyes, smoother and softer skin, and fewer to no eczema patches.
@@gettingphinenow What brand did you buy??
Can you review organika and their proteins?
WOW-so informative! Thanks for the work you put into these videos.
My question is- I was taking the blue Vital Protein but would switch to the Professional version.
What did I wanted joint advantage + skin/hair/nails? Can you take both versions???
Available from Amazon, in my mind kind-of discredits a brand
Thank you for this and all your videos. My question is how much of the supplement should be taken? Is once a day enough or should we have it more? Thank you in advance for your answer to this.
Any info on the 5 types of collagen (types 1, 2, 3, 5, and 10) and their source like beef, pork, chicken, egg , fish, and shellfish?
I take collagen Hyaluron tabletts Is it ok too?
I’ve been using Vital proteins, but just ordered SR brand so we’ll see. Helps with my joint pain. Do you think the bioavailability of any of the components is affected by the heat in coffee? Is it helpful to eat anything with collagen and HA, like a healthy fat or anything to increase absorption?
Do you have a video on pill form? I am using a Weber collagen and have noticed my nails are so much stronger and skin is looking good over 55. Thx enjoy your videos
I have quite bad eczema and I was wondering whether it's ok to use a l-histidine supplement that you mentioned in your part 1 video on collagen with one of the collagen supplements that you recommended? If so, is there an l-histidine supplement that you could please recommend? Thanks!
I was also wondering if it can be damaged by heat (like coffee).
will it cause acne?
Looking forward to adding a collagen suppliment back into my diet! Probably will look into the Sparkle Skin Boost. Thank you for the recommendations.
This is super helpful, thank you ! 😊
I am using the blue container and i do not understand take one spoon or two, can you give me advice please 🙏
@@irma3110 I use Vital Proteins© Collagen Peptides in the blue container with blue top, it comes with a scoop already inside and the directions say use two scoops daily. Hope this helps!
imagine making a video about anti aging and looking old with botox on the face.. thanks lady lol 🤪
What about collagen pills? Are they as good as the collagen powders?
I have to take 4 capsules at a time. I would think they were the same tho as they have the powder inside of them.
Dear Dr., Please check out Andrew Lessman your vitamins collagen. I think that you will find it is one of the best sources of collagen. I would like to hear your opinion of this product as well as the other supplements that he has that is processed Without chemicals, binders and fillers. The products you receive are pure. @Dr. Locke: I've been taking BioSil capsules and I can see a difference in my nails.....hopefully, it's making a difference in my skin and hair. I have osteoporosis and hoping it will help too. I would really appreciate your opinion on this product. Thank you!
I hope there's a dermatologist review ch-OSA too. As a vegetarian, I wish I can find a different choice for collagen.
I would love to have this question answered as well.
@@嘉-m1c me too, I see some improvement but not nearly as much as I saw with Neocel, but that was before when I wasn't vegan.
A pack of gelatin in your orange juice is easy to get it done..
In regards to the new Vital proteins . Would you recommend taking both the blue and the pink?
I am taking a medication that messes with your bones. So I’m interested in the pink container.
Dr. I used collagen supplement vital protein ( marine ) it was good for pains but after few weeks my face developed allergy n red pimples started appearing especially on the chin sides , experienced constipation too
Great video 👍👍👍Very instructive 👏👏👏
My question is regarding the different types of collagen. (Type I, II, III...) - and the uses. And is there 1 comprehensive good brand to take? In addition, do we need higher supplementation as we age? and finally - I 2nd the question about Ancient Nutrition brand (listed below)
I wish the flavored Sparkle didn’t contain stevia
I was eagerly awaiting this video, finally it's here! I'll definitely give these a try, I've been interested in trying collagen supplements ever since your original video.
What do you think about collagen capsules? Is it equivalent to powder?
Oh I hope she answers you
No
