And oh forget multiple pairs, I don't need any more clutter whether I wear every day or not. I desire to keep life simple. Also why understated was important.. I did not think rimless was aging but I suppose you mean wrinkles are a tad more visible but also perhaps due to exposure as an optician to more older people buying rimless? so associate it with them. If one wants to be really bold, loud coloured/patterned spectacles are so passe. Get the granny/grandad look! 😄
I've never followed trends, I actually liked one of the rimless on you. I couldn't see me picking any that you suggested. I appreciate your videos and details, they've helped me quite a bit.
Tip for business development: the reason why I prefer to shop for frame online is that I cannot find the frames I need in store. I need small glass with a relatively large bridge pretty much the only thing I can find are small frame with a bridge under 16 and and a lot of medium and large frames (what fits me perfectly are D-shape frame with a total width of 130 cm and a high bridge of 17-18 mm and they just don't have it in store). If after trying glasses in 30 stores I am lucky enough to finally find a frame that fits me and is fashionable, the optician is usually reluctant to order a color that will be flattering for my blue eyes (black and very colored frames are not an option). Then the second argument is that decently fashionable frames with a 1.67 progressive lenses (which is something not ideal at all for someone working in front of a computer all day) cost me last time $1000. This time, I bough instead 3 single distance pair of glasses online and it costs me less than $150. Sorry but walk-in opticiens need to have a more competitive offer.
For years I've worn small oval glasses with a brown metal frame but now I want to update my look to something more modern so I'm getting a pair of clear/transparent frames. They look great on everyone and are definitely more youthful looking. Plus give a subtle look that I'm looking for - I want people to see my face not my glasses!
I agree with you on the rimless frame. I have tried it twice and no matter what shape it was, I look so old. But I disagree with cat eyes being the absolute goes to for everyone. Not everyone call pull it off without looking like grandma 😂 I for once will looks like I have seen better days with it. It makes my feature looks rough.
I need to update the video now, we have so many new shapes that I'm loving. Cat eyes were relaly big but now we're seeing more interesting takes on round shapes. Thanks for watching!
@@EyeSchoolwithDrD my problem is plastic frames fall off my face especially in the summer. I live in the South. I also have a longer lean face. My first pair of glasses was from the kids section because adult frames were too big for me. I am an adult. There are more choices now but I am limited to metal frames because plastic frames are bigger.
Wow I guess I’m a natural at choosing glasses. 🙂 Cat eye are my favorite, really flattering for diamond face (toughest face shape to find glasses for!).
I have an oval face, but it is petite so it is hard to find glasses that don't look huge on me. I actually bought a pair of oval wire frames for the first time and they just go better with my delicate features. She has a nice big face and a lot of hair so those bold frames are balanced on her.
You can always buy children's frames. I did for years until more designers started making smaller frames available. I still look at them as options whenever I need frames.
Many opticians now carry petite frames. It is a really problem for me as well because the glasses I would like to wear swallow my face. This video has given me some much needed guidance and confidence that I can get out of my rimless and into something more youthful on me!
Thank you so much for this video. Your attitude to what frames can do for appearance and ego is very helpful. Making us think about colour as well as style for focal point, face shape, skin tone, and age will encourage us to make better decisions. I spend ages choosing a new frame and would love to be able to afford more than one set of glasses per perscription. However, I will just have to dream on.
The vintage look is very hip, and never goes out of style. So I would disagree with you putting that rimless saddle bridge frame in with the frames that make one look old.
I've got a round/heart face shape with a pale complexion... I've been wearing soft rectangular frames in a black and dark tortoise fade... I'm a really loud, fun, athletic, extroverted 19-year-old, and I LOVE them!! Your video has given me some interesting ideas, though... Thanks! ;)
I really liked the oval second demo you showed. They looked really nice on your face, and I prefer glasses that lift and pop in color. Wish my opthomologist took the time, Thanks for the tutorial! 🤓
I got rounder face shape and have these cute cat eye medium glasses, which are ombré. 🙂 half black and half blushy pink... am in love. Never thought cat eye glasses would be for me.
Maria Perez I have vintage cat eye glasses that are silver also have a modern pair of cat eye glasses that are grape colored....... I hope you will respond to this
That was unintentional, lol. A full day of patient care & taking my BIO on and off to examine eyes coupled with postpartum regrowth = frizz central. But thank you!
Would you do a video on picking glasses when you have severe myopia? My glasses are around -12 and I’ve had a terrible time trying to find frames that I feel good in. I also have a narrow face, so that doesn’t help.
I was not sure what to do since I previously got a large pair 3 yrs ago and I have a high prescription. So this time I let my eye care give choose a frame to fit me.
You are great! This has been so helpful. I'm in the SF Bay Area and everybody is just like "Yeah those look great on you" Nice to have some science to apply to the frame hunting. Thanks!
Please talk about people with virtually no nose bridge and/or the Asian fit glasses - I can't find them anymore and SO need them... dang long eye-lashes keep getting stuck in my glasses frames - who wants to trim their eyelashes?!
I just got glasses. During the try on, the sample fit fine but when I got the glasses, the nose piece didn’t sit on my nose properly and the frame grip my sight temple. It didn’t feel good at all. I told the glass lady this. She said with wear, it will mold to my head. I did not believe it but I went ahead took it home. I tried it on for a few days. Nope. The glass wasn’t working. The lady said she’ll try to heat up the nostril area and adjust it. Comparing the glass to my computer glass, my computer glass has a longer nose pincher and the frame doesn’t grip my temple. For being so expensive, I didn’t like my glass and has spoken to the lady to exchange the frame but she doesn’t know if it’s possible and need to go find out.
I have to get my first pair of glasses at 46, while career changing from 16 years as a fashion designer. I have also been growing out my grey hair from dark. I could not handle the system shock of this plus glasses and had to leave the store! This really helped me to understand fit and style in unknown territory, thank you !
uncanny how accurately this mirrors my current experience! it's a major identity shift adjustment. i literally couldn't get out of the local optician eye chain Specsavers here quick enough and won't be going back. i think an opticians that are sensitive to your needs and take the time to help you choose the right glasses for you is so important as hardselling two for one deals and rushing you through the process doesn't feel like a great idea. relieved to hear an eye specialist advise to really take your time to choose what's right for you

Hi! What is the brand of the two pairs of translucent frames around 14:10 in the video? (there's a "signature" or something in the bottom right) I loved both of those!
What do you recommend for fair skinned, blue eyed blondes? The heavy dark rims that are in style now are too much contrast for very fair people. I was considering rimless until watching your video. Last thing I want to do is look old.
Just had a miserable time buying new frames at the Optician’s - rushed through came away with something I don’t really like. Should have seen this film first - this’ll be good for the next time, thanks.
Just found your channel. Thank you for your videos. I am curious to know your knowledge about toxic eyeglass frames. Just learned about BPA Omg even in Eyeglasses and your advice about polycarbonate. Not too many websites provide warnings about frame material. Ready to discard all of my frames, though silly of me, still need to wear glasses. You want to absolutely limit BPA ingestion but I don’t think it in glasses or zyl is a concern at all. They’re not super flexible like a water bottle, which is a primary source of BPA ingestion. Think how flexible a water bottle is and how easy they are to crush with one hand. Eyeglass frames don’t quite have that quality.
What glasses style are you wanting to try?
What's your favorite pair of glasses look like?
Full-on round frames, that's no brainer

The second frame is really stylish when worn as sunglasses. Not as clear, normal glasses, I agree with you there.

Are browline (clubmaster style for example) considered lifting??
They can be! Depends on the brow line thickness, shape of lenses and how they curve (up vs down) at the temple
