    Who needs a ceramic coating with a $6 dollar product this tough? Turtle Wax has that special sauce and should be running these other folks out of business. Way more protection than Beadmaker, many sealants, and of course many waxes. This sealant is as strong as ceramic spray sealants or stronger. #RealInnovation

    None of these strip wash products are meant to be used on newly applied sealants or waxes, they're meant to be used to remove the remnants of a wax or sealant, before prepping to apply a new layer of protection. That being said, Adam's strip wash isn't a really effective product, so even if this was a non misleading video, the results wouldn't have been that great.

    One thing I notice about strip washing, if you use a clay mitt on a clean surface, it tends to be much more effective than a wash mitt. Of course there are draw backs by the possibility of marring the paint, in case you don’t plan on polishing. But, a clay towel does greatly speed up the stripping process.

    You really want a good sealant and wax remover, go look for a heavy duty industrial cleaner with both ingredients have with a maximum off 10%.
    The ingredients are:
    Sodium hydroxide and
    Potassium hydroxide.
    These ingredients will strip almost every wax and polymer based, but if you are not carefully it can be harmful for the clear coat. The real deal SiO2 coatings to strip these coating you need always to polish off.

    Glad you did this video and starting a series on this. The "Was I Wrong?" video I asked "How exactly should someone strip panels from wax or sealants?" You never answered and the one answer I got was someone telling me to polish the panels to get everything off. I think that's so overkill. Does no one actually know how to remove the stuff? Do people just rely on stripping washes advertised purposes and not verify its working? I'm still confused on why this is a question that no one knows how to with 100% effectiveness.

    If seal and shine is like their Shine Lock (they share a product page on Amazon) it's mostly silicone oils (62%) and very few APCs will remove silicone oils. Given how everything now sticks to my paint after using S&S I am inclined to believe it's mostly silicone oils. from www.pfonline.com/articles/silicone-oil-removal
    "Silicone oils generally have very low surface tension and even an aqueous cleaner with a very good surfactant mixture will likely not be very effective at removal....Polar solvents such as alcohols and acetone will not be effective at dissolving silicone oils. "
    When you go there ask them, or use one of the recommended products to use on silcone oils and see if they work and you'll have your answer. I will be polishing it off the next chance I get.

Use the "paint prep" from the same brand, that is the most safest route to get the bond to maximum.

    I find that Purple Power Heavy Duty Vehicle and Boat Wash (which you mentioned), is a pretty good strip product. I also like to follow-up the wash after drying with Duplicolor Grease & Wax Remover (the soy based one #CM-543). I'll spray it on the panel and let it dwell for about 10-20 seconds (as long as it doesn't flash depending on how hot it is out), and then wipe off. These two steps usually does the trick, although sometimes I might have to do two applications of the grease & wax remover.
    Something that I've seen work well but haven't tried myself is Meguiar's Wash PLUS. It actually contains abrasives within the wash, so it strips really well. It's great especially if you plan on polishing after washing.

    Hey Jimbo, go to the dollar store and pick up a bottle of LA's Totally Awesome, that shit will strip any wax or sealant, $1 for 24 oz spray bottle at dollar general. I think Walmart may sell it too.

    Jimbo, I agree with a few others. Try Purple Power Vehicle and Boat Wash. I'm really curious because its essentially a budget strip wash removing (possibly) a budget sealant. I believe its $8.98 at Walmart.
    Other thoughts. Strip wash comparisons on a known durable product such as Seal and Shine.

      I tried Purple Power vehicle and boat wash with super clean added to it and that darn sealant will not budge after me going over the car TWICE with the same concoction.😑

    For durability tests, do any of those products damage clear coats? Like purple power and degreasers at full strength. I have always been curious.

    I’ve used CG Citrus Red for awhile and that stuff worked great! Unfortunately they no longer make it. Matt at Obsessed Garage was able to find someone to make it for him to sell. He changed the color and renamed it Decontamination Soap. I literally just bought a gallon a few minutes ago from him cause I’m down to the last bottle of my CG Red!😥 nice video!

    Hi Jimbo, thanks for the video. I wish I had seen this before I bought this expensive Adams strip wash to strip wax and sealant from my truck. The truck was in an accident recently, and when it came out of the body shop, it had been waxed, on top of the 2-3 layers of seal n shine I had already applied. After I washed it the first time back, it appeared all the sealant and wax was gone, panels were flat. So I put a coat of seal n shine on it. Big mistake. Man, it looked like bacon grease. I hand polished it as much as I could, and it still looked bad. So I ordered the strip wash, hoping to get it off. Nope. 2 washes, and still on there. I guess it will have wear off, because I don't have a da polisher, and I can't afford to take it to a detailer. Any suggestions?

    • @autodetailingpodcast
      @autodetailingpodcast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could try washing it with Purple Power Boat Wash or an apc, but seal and shine is a tough one to get off.

      @@autodetailingpodcast Thanks for the reply. What is an apc? Also do you think Griots correcting cream, and a da polisher would work?
      Thanks.

    Jimbo, you may have to travel out of the detailers arsenal and borrow from a mechanic cleaner and use some parts cleaning solvent.

      Washing with an apc is a great way to strip usually.

    CG Clean Slate should do a better job. Certainly removes/kills Beadmaker after a few weeks. TW wizards must be doing backflips on such a good product, i finally got TW Sealant (same black bottle) in UK, absolutely cracking on my Machine Grey CX-5.

    • @roscopervis
      @roscopervis 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chemical Guys Clean Slate may well remove CG products, but these offer weak durability so up against something as potent as Seal n' Shine it would be just as feeble, if not moreso.
