These are great cars. I work at a Lexus dealer and the only real consistent issues I see with them are control arm bushings once you pass 100K (expensive to replace) and oil consumption. I actually worked on an 09 LS460 today lol Also, at 14:15 - That's not an LED! It's actually a light diffuser/crystal type thingy, it just focuses the light from the top into the button. Kinda neat.
The 90 lexus ls has the motorized seatbelt adjustable. Didn't even mention the most obvious way to distinguish the 600 from 460. Headlights and grill are unique.
Yup. I'm always checking headlights and haven't seen anyone else with one. I even told my wife to stop driving, got out and went to someone drive way to see if they had a 600 too, nope lol
This car is the biggest sleeper ever. I bought an 08 LS600hL last year and can’t believe the value. It’s all the greatest things people love about the Lexus LS, but on a whole other level. Epic👍
I'll mention that the plastic engine cover is on the base model too. Probably for a few reasons: the engine is not much to look at, it probably helps dampen engine noise to the cabin, and Lexus has a very professional white glove concierge vehicle service dept and the probably want to encourage ppl to use it by discouraging ppl from servicing their own cars. That said, if you have the skills and prefer to DIY, the plastic covers come off rather easily by removing those little circular tabs. OH and the trunk is much more spacious in the base model.
@@servant_of_merciful ive got the chrome 18s on it. not a bad idea to lower it tho I already like the stance. But already a top notch daily as if you ask me haha.
Quirk about the silver engine cover: The LS460 has 8 humps on it for its V8, the LS600h has.... 14, because its better than a V12! Also the DVD remote takes 3 double A batteries, the two in the trunk are for the emergency light that is at the end of the spare wheel compartment.
One of the ways to distinguish the 600h to 460 is the headlights. These were the first full-LED in the world. Regular LS460 had different looking ones.
The 2008 Lexus LS 600hL was the first production car with full LED headlights (and you thought it was Audi), one of the first to have automated parking and so many other features. This car was ahead of its time in 2007. The W221 Mercedes-Benz S-Class was nice, but Toyota/Lexus had innovation that nobody saw coming back in 2006.
I have the Predecessor to this car the LS430 (2005). I have owned mine since new and I love it. It's comfortable, quiet, reliable, and torquie. I love this car and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. The LS460 and LS600 were amazing as well.
But they are...I think so because this is an 10years old lexus, yes it would be the top model but ultimately not often like newer cars.(I am agreeing you both)
The Double A batteries are for the flashlight, part of the spare tire kit. Didn’t mention this vehicle has double Paine glass for quietness. Debuted for 2007. The 460 engine of the year award, mated to first ever 8 speed Automatic, and same 0-60 time (5.4sec) as 5.7L Hemi charger. Also this LS600hL also have intelligent cruise control, originally from 2003 or 04 in the US. The LS400 motor is also FAA certified. These vehicles also had the “Hold” button. Holds the peddle during red light stop.
Deez Nuts no they don’t. The Japanese make Lexus models just like Toyota’s. German cars are garbage and will always have problems but Lexus will never will
Bought a 2007 hL in mint condition, fully equipped after this review. After six months with it, I must say that everything is as good as Doug says. OK, it doesn't look as fancy as a S-Klass or a 7-series, but the quality...oh My god!! Everything inside the cabin is superior. Incredible soft leather and the alignment of every panel is magnificent. I have never driven a car this quiet either.
My dad has a Lexus 2005 ls430, everything works, buttery smooth powerful reliable engine, drives like new, no noises. Worth more now than any european luxury car of that year.
I actually like the styling of this car. It's not so trendy or gaudy like some luxury cars, while also not too boring. It's just seems down-to-business getting from A to B in comfortable and efficient manner.
and i see one for sale right now for 9600 with 166k miles. i really think lexus of the late 2000s and early 2010s are amazing and the depreciation makes it worth buying them now.
Doug, you forgot to mention one of the worthiest mentionning quirks of this car: this was the first production car which could be equipped with LED headlights. Although in this configuration, the high beams use HID bulbs, that are only used for the high beams. As opposed to all other cars on which HID bulbs are used either by low beams only or low and high beams. This may also be the only car to have that.
You can get the 600 in a short wheelbase. I have one! I drove both and settled on the short wheelbase (swb) version because I'm the driver and never likely to be a passenger so would get no benefit from the extra length nor the executive package in the rear. As an added bonus the swb version is considerably lighter. It accelerates with noticeably more verve and even handles better. Presumably more economical as well. Not that your buy this car for the handling but it handles ok. Better than I expected. I also managed to get one without leather. It has what appears to be some incredibly soft suede instead. Soooo much better. Not hot in summer, not cold in winter and not slippery! The seats are way more comfortable in this material because it has more give than leather. You sink into the seats instead of sitting on top. I'm stunned at how quiet, refined and luxurious this car is. (And fast in this swb version) More so given it cost $13,000 USD In New Zealand and the car has only traveled 43,000 miles. Madness!
The US spec only offered the 600h in the long wheelbase version. It also came loaded with every feature Lexus offered which was why it easily broke $100+K USD.
@David Topchiev Have you ever owned a flagship luxury vehicle before? They are not cheap cars to own no matter the brand. There's a reason they cost well over $100,000 USD when they were new. ALSO its a lexus, they are about comfort not speed.

2010 feels like one of those great weekend nights where you never want it to end. Bonfires and friends. Then Monday comes around. And you gotta get back on that grind. But in the inside you know you'll never have a day like that again.
The LS460 had the 8-speed automatic. The 600 had a dual-stage planetary gear CVT, which I believe was also a first. While Nissan developed a dual stage belt CVT in 2002 that's a totally different type of CVT. It was also a miserable failure, which goes without saying.
Not really ahead of any German cars. They might be the first one to put 8speed auto which a year later lots of manufacturer did. That doesn't mean crap. How many people spend $120,000 in 2006 on Lexus?
Here I was living my life thinking the 96 Buick Park Avenue Ultra was the pinnacle of automotive luxury. Then I remembered that was just American cars. 😁

These are great cars. I work at a Lexus dealer and the only real consistent issues I see with them are control arm bushings once you pass 100K (expensive to replace) and oil consumption. I actually worked on an 09 LS460 today lol
Also, at 14:15 - That's not an LED! It's actually a light diffuser/crystal type thingy, it just focuses the light from the top into the button. Kinda neat.
Brilliant!
Missed out on the 40-140 run, the car is so fast and always in the right power band, no lag on downshifting , love it!
My family had pretty much this exact car (2012 model) back in the day. Honestly a super underrated car that doesn't get enough love.
I love my LS460L I recommend purchasing one used

I love those cars and am considering buying one, would you say the fuel economy bothers you?
How reliable and expensive to repair
How is the 460, Probably pretty nice, also?

Doug! You forgot something... LS600h is the first serial car (not Audi) with full LED front lights!!!!
First V8 hybrid to I believe. He didnt talk about the height adjustment you can press a button and watch the car lift up, too cool.

The 90 lexus ls has the motorized seatbelt adjustable.
Didn't even mention the most obvious way to distinguish the 600 from 460. Headlights and grill are unique.
One thing I love about high end Japanese cars is their subtlety. Attention gets taxing after a while.
You can distinguish the LS600 from the 460 by looking at the headlights.
And the grill! And blue tinge for the badge
Yup. I'm always checking headlights and haven't seen anyone else with one. I even told my wife to stop driving, got out and went to someone drive way to see if they had a 600 too, nope lol

You just made me so proud of my 09 LS460. 😭 Never thought I'd see my car on your channel. Surreal.
Love my 460 😍
Bro nice 👊 just lower the car with 18 inches or bigger wheels with a slight modification it will be a bad ass daily 😆
@@Bpaaron nice 👊
Quirk about the silver engine cover: The LS460 has 8 humps on it for its V8, the LS600h has.... 14, because its better than a V12! Also the DVD remote takes 3 double A batteries, the two in the trunk are for the emergency light that is at the end of the spare wheel compartment.
You just raised the value of this car by 3%
Agreed!
Doug, my 10 year old son loves your channel and wanted me to wish you a happy belated birthday.
@Elliot Rodger happy 5th anniversary Elliot.

I've had my 2011 LS600hL Executive for about a month now, and there's SO many quirks and features Doug missed with this car.
the self parking is extremely good and can also reverse in for you aswell
You can also distinguish it from the headlights. The 600hL has these 3 LED projectors on each element whereas the 460 has halogen reflectors.
I have the Predecessor to this car the LS430 (2005). I have owned mine since new and I love it. It's comfortable, quiet, reliable, and torquie. I love this car and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. The LS460 and LS600 were amazing as well.

Such gorgeous cars. If only they weren't so rare
And not old enough like it should be in 3 years range.
So rare? Doug showed off how you can find them for like 20K
But they are...I think so because this is an 10years old lexus, yes it would be the top model but ultimately not often like newer cars.(I am agreeing you both)
The 600H is definitely rare. I've only ever seen one.
In road, I would say yes
I never imagined the existence or a car with such detailed amenities. This is amazing.
If you want luxury and tech that's reliable - Buy a Lexus.
Don't let Trump know you said that
@Deez Nuts uffffff
Deez Nuts no they don’t. The Japanese make Lexus models just like Toyota’s. German cars are garbage and will always have problems but Lexus will never will
@@rushintofishin81 Amen to that. I love my old Honda Jazz (Fit) far more than my Skoda Octavia.

I have never driven a car this quiet either.

and i see one for sale right now for 9600 with 166k miles. i really think lexus of the late 2000s and early 2010s are amazing and the depreciation makes it worth buying them now.

Madness!
Wow 😮 you lucky devil 😈
The US spec only offered the 600h in the long wheelbase version. It also came loaded with every feature Lexus offered which was why it easily broke $100+K USD.

@David Topchiev Have you ever owned a flagship luxury vehicle before? They are not cheap cars to own no matter the brand. There's a reason they cost well over $100,000 USD when they were new. ALSO its a lexus, they are about comfort not speed.

I believe this was also the worlds first 8-speed automatic. This car was car ahead of its time in 2006
The LS460 had the 8-speed automatic.
Also the first to have LED Headlights, assuming it's not mentioned in the video.
