The M178 LS2 only revs 200 rpm higher than the M178. The flat plane firing order and manifold does allow the turbo to spool faster , but those marginal gains are definitely not worth it for the massive loss in sound quality.

Before I watched I just knew the AMG Black would die the by the noise, when the initial media tests started pouring through I don’t recall finishing one video, the noise of a performance car is such a factor and without it i’m one to switch off, for a road going car the emotional experience wins as all these cars are already bloody fast. No doubts the Black is an absolute beast on track but what a turnoff! Often the most joy on road is the part throttle 6-7/10ths driving digging in into the mid-range for noise where you simply can’t go on the full attack, looks like the black needs full commitment to enjoy the power train somewhat. I’m glad you included the AMG GTR within the vid, it’s the most aggressive tune of that epic thundering V8 available and anyone who owns one I’m sure is having a blast. As for the GT2 RS, what a machine! I rate we’re due for a GT2 RS and MC20 comparo, both boosty 6’s with guttural noise and perceived usable friendly/fiend nature yet with hugely different composition! This Black series was a missed opportunity and AMG’s going steep downhill towards the greener future for petrol heads. I very nearly bought a W212 C63 AMG Coupe recently, the older N/A turbo and s/c V8’s will provide so much joy for any future keepers willing the keep them in shape. I've driven a GT2RS (with the MR kit, no less) briefly on some similar roads, approachable but intense is the same summation i came to. It's incredible and i'm so grateful to the owner for that experience. I've been along the same roads as a passenger in the Black Series too, i loved the look of the car, its insane in person but i didnt get the same feeling as the feeling i got in the GT2rs inside. I found it really compliant though, i was surprised!
I owned GT2RS and what special about it is the amount of character and drama it have from inside, every single mechanical movement is heard and felt, it's just amazing! Only 675LT beats it in my opinion in experience, GT4RS which currently I own comes close to those also

Great video, beautiful machinery and good conclusion. I love GT Black series, but I agree - it is too harsh for public road, in all honesty I would love to have AMG GT for a daily driver more than a Black Series, although as you rightfully said - it is undeniably a track monster.
That was a very average head to head presentation. You spent way too long droning on about the avaerage sound and instrument layout of the AMG. Where was the timed shoot-out? The drag race? The prices? The driving modes? You made a Ford Focus review out of track weapons! These are probably the best versions of racecars with number plates ever, and you just faffed around in them, warbling on. Drink a Red Bull or two before taking on cars of this calibre again.Sorry guys. Did not have the desired affect on this viewer.
I guess, obody has heard about new regulations about emissions and noises. Then, it is not the traction control on the left of steering wheel it is stability control and you need to hit twice to a specific way to turn it down or off with a warning on the dash

It seems that Porsche’s engineers did their magic once again. No matter how good the competition is, Porsche’s cars always stand out in terms of drivability, durability etc. Well done Merc but kudos to Porsche again. Cheers!
Peaky NA engines are just so much more thrilling on the road. All the torque in the world can't make up for wringing out a high revving engine - where all the drama, thrill and danger is at the screamy end. I think we (largely the manufacturers' fault) are too obsessed with lap times and track cars these days. If we're being honest, most of us love cars that we can drive A to A on a weekend, over anything that performs well on a track (sadly in the UK, we don't have a local Nurburgring ☹️). Oh, and masses of torque + Cup tyres = usable only in the dry. The amount of people that use track tyres on the road baffles me!
Both Supersportscars are amazing. But for me the 911 is a little bit more. Thanks to the former Master Rallye World Champion Walter Rohrl who is a official Consultant for Porsche. On the other Side the Badass AMG GT R Benz wich is amazing too.and very close to the mighty 911. Both are in a Class in their Own
I have driven the Black Series on the road and track, and disagree that it is not road friendly. It is really no different than the GT-R for every day driving. I do however, agree that the sound is dissapointing, and if you only drove on the road, and never hit the track, the GT-R with it's sound is just so much better.

black series doesn't stand for getting the max out of the components... it stands for track based road legal car...more sophisticated handling (ok just ignore the SL65 black series). both the C63 and SLS black series could have had more power but that wasn't as much the goal as having it handle better and set great lap times
Oh god no. The Porsche and Merc don't fall to pieces or have bad build quality. The McLarens are beautiful cars but my friends that have owned them have had nothing but problems with the quality and company.

Nice camera work, but reviewing these cars only on the road doesn’t provide useful info. I can already overdrive most any road in my AMG E63s… these cars can’t really go any faster without reckless disregard for other drivers. The road looked wet for almost all of the review so ESC is working full time.

I don't know man but for me it seems the Blacks of yesteryears tell a better story than this GT Black. I'm a die-hard Merc fan and I'd choose an AMG GT (whether GT, S, C or R) over any 911 but when it comes to GT Black vs Porsche then the latter is my preferred one.
It’s a compromised review. Rushed even, you have two of the most hardcore track cars the tip of the spear in terms of performance, and you’ve decided to take them on wet, horrible bump roads? Honestly why. What does it even prove? You even said yourself you’d rather have a GT3 RS for these roads. These cars belong on tracks. Review them where they belong because this doesn’t really tell us anything, they’re both hindered by where they are.
AMG BS for me. Porsches are everywhere, even the so-called special ones. Maybe not the GT2 RS but GT3s and sometimes GT3 RS, which look nearly identical to the GT2. People buy Porsche without thinking; it's the go-to car brand. You buy the AMG GT BS, you put some obvious thought into that purchase.

As a AMG GTR owner... It's a honest review, the AMG BS is a very extreme car its truly a track day weapon wherein the GT2RS is more steerable.

The AMG has huge presence on the road it's amazing in real life. But it sounds like a GolfR. Exactly like a Golf!!!
I think the regular AMG GTR would be good enough for me. Still had some of that AMG growl and performance at a much lower price
