  • As I stand here amidst the lush greenery of our homestead, I can't help but feel a whirlwind of emotions swirling within me. You see, after years of dedication and hard work in the corporate world, I've reached a pivotal moment: retirement.
It's a decision that's been brewing for some time, yet as the reality sets in, I find myself oscillating between excitement and apprehension. Leaving behind the familiar routine and security of my career is daunting, to say the least. But deep down, I know it's the right step for me, for us. And as I look ahead, I'm filled with a sense of gratitude for the opportunity to pursue these dreams alongside Todd, my steadfast partner in this journey. Together, we'll cultivate not just crops but a life rich in meaning and connection.
So yes, there are butterflies fluttering in my stomach, uncertainties lingering in the air. But beneath it all, there's a profound sense of excitement, of anticipation for the adventures that lie ahead. And with each potato planted and each plan hatched, I'm reminded that this retirement isn't just an end-it's a beginning, a chance to write the next beautiful chapter in the story of our lives ♥

I remember a year to 2 years ago you were having a tough time. We don't know what was causing it but we (viewers) were so concerned because you're emotions are easy to read. Fast forward to today & you look so darn happy! And deservedly so. Retirement is so great. You said you don't know what you're going to do with yourself but trust me. You're going to be so busy. You don't look 55 so you must be retiring early. How nice. Hopefully, Todd isn't far behind. We are so happy for you!

  • @RobinL4715

So happy for you to retire! I could see how exhausted you were with work! Congratulations and welcome to the best stage of life!

  • @sharonselner8871

So happy for you. I worked 45 years in healthcare and I have to say I felt the same way, I really wanted to just stay at home with my children. Sometimes life just dictates our directions. I am now retired and am raising 2 grandsons which I love, I garden, can, cook and I like all that. Your days will fill up without you realizing it, you will love it. Congratulations.

Watching you describe the wife you want to be for Todd was one of the most precious beautiful moments I think I've ever seen on TH-cam! The love you have for him almost spilled from your eyes ;) Congratulations on your retirement! I'm looking forward to following along with all of your new dreams! ❤

Congrats Rachel. I just retired and the corporate world is off my shoulders and I'm at least 50lbs lighter!😂😂😂❤❤❤

  • @beccaa3505

Congratulations Rachel. Everyone’s dreams are different and equally valid. I’m happy you are getting to experience yours.

It never occurred to me that other woman would think like I do. For years I was a stay at home mom and then I went back into the workforce. My husband is older than I am and he is gearing up for retirement. My heart so desires to actually be a house WIFE. I never really truly understood what that was about until recently when it has been put into my heart. In a sense I want to make sure he has the best retirement possible. I want to be by his side and enjoy life together. Thank you Rachel for showing me I'm not alone in this way of traditional thinking.

Congratulations Rachel!! I was forced into early retirement with the onset of covid. It was the best thing that's ever happened to me! Today, I can't even fathom how I managed to work 60 hrs a week and still managed home to. Anyway lady... take the time to smell the flowers and ENJOY!!

**Where do I begin...Let's start with congratulations on your retirement! God blessed me with a similar "Early Retirement package" also. It was so amazing that I knew His hands had crafted it just for me!!! Don't worry about being "relevant" in this new phase of your life. He will continue to open doors for you. You are good at listening for His leading in your life. You will always give it your all and we are blessed to share in your journey. Finally...you cracked me up when you told us not to share with others your new website ideas. I laughed out loud!😅 Seriously? 23 thousand people have viewed this post😂...but don't worry, your secret is safe with me!!!!***

I here you. I raised my son by myself with no support. I finally retired in 2019 at 65. I don’t regret anything. My son is now 39 and the best guy who helps me.

  • @sherreehartwig4600

Congratulations! You'll be so busy you won't miss a working job. Enjoy! I called it quits at age 62.

  • @michellelyon3149

Racheal, when COVID hit & I was furloughed from a position which I’d held for 40 years. Over those few months of being home, I loved just being here to take care of the house, cook meals, etc. it really gave me insight to what retirement would be for me & I could not wait for that time to arrive. After being called back to work, it was perfect timing to pull the trigger! Within a few short months, I turned 65, had then completed 41 years & made the joyful decision to retire. Yes, it is scary but not for long! I do not miss waking up @ 530am for that job! So, congratulations & enjoy your well deserved retirement!

  • @patz2917

Such wonderful news! Retirement is such a gift and I’m sure both of you will thrive. As to having lots of free time, be careful what you wish for…that free time is filled VERY quickly! My story is somewhat like yours, in that my professional life walked side by side with my family life. Raising kids while teaching full time was a stretch, especially since my passion for teaching and desire to always be there with and for our children weren’t always compatible. But the story of your children’s’ successes shows you found the balance. Now you and Todd can explore this new chapter in your lives with joy and eager anticipation. I am so happy for you!

  • @2BitRanch

You going to wonder how you ever worked! You will easily fill your time. Congrats!

  • @wandakelly2173

Oh I have happy tears for you! I retired at 56 after 31 years in the court system. I totally understand how you feel. Congratulations ya’ll!
