Hi dearest Ruth anne! I know you said you weren’t as comfortable doing a different format youtube, but I found it absolutely delightful. It was like having an afternoon visit with you. Your “life change” happened around the same time as my life change happened. I too had been happily raising my family of 3 kids when my husband’s job in the computer industry evaporated. The following day, our middle child was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He languished in a coma for a couple months and we were advised to put him in a nursing home and get on with our lives and continue raising our other children. I refused that advice and insisted that my son would come home with me. The group of doctors were shocked that a young mother would so insistently defy them, the stood slack jawed staring at my audacious refusal when obviously I hadn’t given his future any thought. One of the docs said, “you have to consider his long term care.” I told him I AM HIS LONG TERM CARE.” Dr’s just automatically assumed because my Jonathan had suddenly gone from a typical 9 year old to a comatose 100lb new born on a feeding tube that I would say , “I give up, it’s too hard.” But they didn’t know me.
I explained I was Jon’s long term care, and that He would be returning home with me.
We did bring him home, and with constant brain stimulation and familiar surroundings within a couple months we had him laughing, then talking, then walking, then dressing and feeding himself again.
Today he is married, working and raising his own family with on one little here, and one on the way. Jesus has most certainly been faithful to all of us and will always be. Thanks for sharing your story with us. You are loved and appreciated!!!

Loved your family story. I was raised Roman Catholic and in the last three years I have questioned all the man made rules vs what is in the Bible. My husband still attends but I choose to not participate. Your story reaffirms my personal decision to live according to the Bible vs man made rules. Change is very difficult for my husband so I understand his decision. Love watching your family and homestead as we raised our daughters on a dairy farm. Now we are retired and friends do not understand my canning/freezing of our large garden when there is only two of us. But I can freely share our bounty with others. We enjoy our laying hens and raise our meat chickens which we process ourselves. (SE Wisconsin). God is Good!

I understand your story. Only I was a Mormon. I always had questions but they were never answered. Finally my eyes were opened one Sunday at church. And then I read a book on the two men who founded the church! What a shock and I was repulsed! I left and found God in another church where I found peace. I miss all the things I learned about being a good wife, mom, homemaker and the things we did to make our lives better. But it has been worth it! Your story was wonderful about finding the spirit of God! God bless you and your family!

As soon as I saw the title of this video, I couldn’t click on it fast enough. I’m so glad to get to know you better & hear your story of salvation. I memorized lots of scripture growing up. I remember how the simplicity of Ephesians 2:8-9 spoke to me as a child & it continues to this day. I typically don’t think of myself as or often describe myself as an “adoptive” Mom but I too adopted a little boy. We took him home straight from the hospital. His was an open adoption & we saw his birth mom several times for the first 5 years of his life. After we moved we kept in touch over the phone & I sent pictures. Sadly, she passed away when he was in 4th grade but my son knows where he began & has photos & lots of stories. We waited 10 years to become parents & I often say he was an answered prayer & a dream come true. He’s 33 now, has taken a bride & he’s still both those things to me. It’s so nice to get to know you like this, Ruthann.

I'm old now and still do not have a clue about my birth parents and still do not care about that except I'm grateful they gave birth to me so I had a chance to be chosen. My cousin was Also adopted in an open adoption and when she was introduced to her birth mom, it changed her life and now they are drug addicts together. I'm only sharing my story because I'm grateful to be here and I'm grateful for those who choose to adopt. I truly believe our Lord and Savior blesses us with adoptive parents and places us right where we need to be. Grateful and blessed 💜

@arletteross My dad was adopted. I know NOTHING about why. He has only ever said that he has no intention of finding his birth parents (who are more than likely long gone now, as he is in his 70s).
My BFF was adopted as well. Her birth mother simply didn't want her. She has a bunch of children, including a few born after her. There is nothing "wrong" with my BFF. No medical issues present at birth to warrant the excuse of not wanting a child. Out of all of her children, for some bizarre/unknown reason, SHE ALONE just wasn't wanted. She has MAJOR attachment/abandonment issues, largely due to this fact.
I'm glad they were adopted, as without them, I would not exist, and therefore neither would my children. I'd also be without my bestie. Adoption is the loving option.

I left the Mormon church too. I was not LDS my mom was a 3rd generation RLDS and my dad had a similar church he was a minster of and I was a member of his church. I agree with the deep loneliness that you talk about. I have no relationship with my Mormon family now, whenever I talked to them after leaving the cult I would go through spiritual warfare. God told me to choose Him or my dad which God said was my idol. I chose God. It's an extremely painful thing to give up your ungodly family who is toxic in so many ways and is not willing to change no matter what you say. But following Jesus is worth it.
Mathew chapter 10 says Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

      @@GerilynCardon
Hi, I was a born and raised Mormon for 30 years and I was deeply devoted because I thought it was true. I felt God's presence many times at the church services and thought those feelings and my family's spiritual experiences were happening because we were part of the one true church. The leaders and members taught that every good experience or feeling etc is because of being a member of the one true church. I didn't understand at the time that God could have just visited me since I was truly seeking Him.
I didn't know that I was supposed to test the spirits to see if it was from God or not. In other words I didn't know to check the bible to see if what I was experiencing or feeling etc is in God's character to say or do something or not, because what I was experiencing could be the enemy or my own thoughts or the warm feeling of being part of a group that I loved deeply etc.
I would hear the bible being read in Mormon church throughout my life growing up. Unfortunately I didn't read my bible all the way through when I was a Mormon since I was taught by the Mormon church it had errors. The books that were written by Joseph Smith were read and taught the most in the Mormon church.
I was blown away when I read mounting evidence that Joseph Smith did divination and was a liar etc.
There are many proofs that Joseph Smith is not what the Mormon church claims him to be. I studied diligently for myself with sincerity and for the love of the truth. I wanted to see if the claims against Joseph Smith were true or not. I didn't want to believe in anything or anyone if it wasn't true! No matter how painful the truth might be! These proofs that I found and read for myself about Joseph Smith were not easy to read since I loved and respected Joseph Smith greatly while I was a Mormon. But at the end of the day facts are facts.
After carefully studying the evidence out there for the bible, I found it was true. The bible fulfills hundreds of prophesies and there is geological evidence of the places and people found in the bible. The dead sea scrolls show that the bible is the same as it was 2,000 years ago.
The book of Mormon has none of these prophesies fulfilled and geological evidence. Plus reformed Egyptian is a made up language, scholarly reference works on languages do not acknowledge the existence of either a "reformed Egyptian" language or "reformed Egyptian" script as it was described by Joseph Smith. There is no archaeological, linguistic, or other evidence of the use of Egyptian writing in the ancient Americas. Joseph Smith didn't think anyone would figure this out because that is before people know how to use the Rosetta stone that allowed people to understand Egyptian hieroglyphs-a script made up of small pictures that were used originally in ancient Egypt for religious texts.
The anti Mormon statements and accusations have been answered by the Mormons, but not answered truthfully and biblically! They are answered with many fallacies, one of the biggest fallacies Mormons make is Wishful Thinking, (which is to believe in something because you want it to be true and believing something is true without evidence, or assuming something is false because you don't want it to be) man made beliefs, and intentional or unintentional lies from devoted Mormon believers who were trusting in their feelings, their spiritual experiences, what their leaders say, what the other members and family say.
Unfortunately most Mormons are not critically thinking about their beliefs. Most Mormons are told what to think, not how to think! This kind of deception has little to do with intelligence. There are a lot of smart people who believe in all kinds of fallacies.
I truly hope that you will research for yourself about the real things that Joseph Smith did and believed that the LDS does not teach!
I left the Mormon religion because It was not true after all, It was the hardest thing I ever went through, I ended up losing all my family and friends. My love for the biblical Jesus is greater than my family. God is faithful and he gave me a new family and so much more. He is the one I put all my faith and trust in. I read and study the bible daily to understand it and reject anything belief I had that is different from the bible.
I sincerely hope you pray and consider the things I said. If you have any questions or concerns you can always ask. Take care.
      Edit: For clarification

Religion is a very personal decision. I was raised as a Roman Catholic as was my mother and her mother before her and even further back. It used to be that you just blindly accepted everything you were taught. I on the other hand chose to examine my faith, like you did. I still chose to remain Catholic. You chose to follow your own conscience and I respect that greatly, You have made a difficult but wise decision. Much respect to you.

@@loritawilson1076 Catholics and other false religions do not resemble true born-again Christians in any sense. True born-again Christians do not worship idols or Mary dollies or sing to her. She too had to receive Christ as her Savior to be saved, not superior to any other sinner. However, Christians recognize she revealed exceptional faith and obedience before God. Her cousin, Elizabeth, also exhibited exceptional faith and godliness. Joseph did too, he being a just man and one who obeyed all God commanded of him in the protection of Jesus Christ, God the Son, as his adoptive son.
The Bible declares idolaters (those who bow before idols, pray before them, touching beads, etc.) go to the lake of fire. Idolatry has no place in true Christianity. Revelation 21:8-“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
God eventually will judge-“The LORD has issued a command concerning you: "Your name will no longer be perpetuated. I will cut off idol and image from the house of your gods. I will prepare your grave, for you are contemptible."
      (Nahum 1: 14)
Mary, the true Mary of the Bible was not a fertility goddess and called God her Savior. You have to be a sinner to need a Savior. Christ condemned Catholicism when people attempted to uplift Mary when He was on the earth. He would not allow it when people tried to bless her, he said, on the contrary, blessed are those who abide in Christ’s commandments.
Luke 11:27 And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, “Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!” 28 But He said, “On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!”
Pointing to his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother." (Matthew chapter 12, verses 49 and 50)
"Who are my mother and my brothers?" he asked. Then he looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, "Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God's will is my brother and sister and mother." (Mark chapter 3, verses 33-35)
Now Jesus' mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd. Someone told him, "Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you." He replied, "My mother and brothers are those who hear God's word and put it into practice." (Luke chapter 8, verses 19-21)
True Christians believe in receiving Christ Jesus, the Christ of the Bible from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, with no additions or subtractions, as their personal Savior. They do not believe in salvation by works. The Holy Spirit indwells true believers, equipping them to live godly in Christ Jesus. Jesus Christ died for every person so anyone can be saved from their sins who call upon Him.
Christians are also to come and be separate from the unsaved and they are to have no fellowship with the children of satan. Catholics are the children of satan as those who worship idols, teach salvation by works, and mock the Bible and its holy truths. Christians are not to fellowship with anyone who teaches false doctrines and this is viewed throughout the Bible, including 2 Peter, Galatians, Deuteronomy 13, etc.
A friend of mine was once Catholic and in her church they had a yearly ritual where they had an idol of Jesus that they laid down and made everyone would kiss this idol’s feet. She performed this also before becoming a born-again Christian.
A so-called church full of satanic idolatry, akin to Babylon. "Therefore behold, the days are coming that I will bring judgment on the carved images of Babylon; Her whole land shall be ashamed, And all her slain shall fall in her midst.” (From Jeremiah chapter 51, and we read in Revelation God's judgment will fall on idolatry and that of Mystery Babylon’s idolatry.)
Judgment Day is coming Revelation 9:20-“The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, so as not to worship demons, and the idols of gold and of silver and of brass and of stone and of wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk . . .”
Romans 10:9 in the Bible: "That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the LORD Jesus, and believe in thine heart that God raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

@@loritawilson1076 As long as you are born again of the Spirit, you can still practice in your Catholic faith and have salvation; same with those of other religions; if you're not born again, accept Jesus as your savior, believe he died for your sins, commit yourself to the Lord's will; that goes for each of us. Having a personal relationship with Jesus is not religion, it is a personal relationship with Jesus. God bless you.

A a homesteader family living on the outskirts of a very small country town in Australia, where none of the neighbours farm their blocks of land at all, we are considered a bit balmy by most. We were not born in the town either but we have lived in it for over 20 years... but we will never be regarded as locals. So I really do understand how you feel the disconnection from community. I lost both parents over 10 years ago and my one sister who is 15 yrs my senior lives in Queensland 1,500 km away. We do stay in touch and we love one another very much, but the sense of extended family is disconnected and hard to maintain. I find your channel so refreshing as you and your family are kind, moral, and sincere. I really enjoy your instruction and I love the way your children pitch in and help out. Catholics and other false religions do not resemble true born-again Christians in any sense. True born-again Christians do not worship idols or Mary dollies or sing to her. Their pagan prayers are prayed to “Our Lady,” their false Mary. They believe her to be “The spouse of the Holy Spirit,” whereby, their false Jesus was created. Nor do true Christians adhere to other so-called saints, pray on beads, etc. They do not believe in Catholic mystics and praying to the bones of mystics.

    Made baby food as well.
I met my husband at a Baptist Church in Niles, Ohio. Unfortunately after our second son died in 1996. Divorce came. He married our babysitter that was 17yrs his junior.
I'm single. July is when Jesse died.

Fascinating testimony...I was raised Baptist and was in church everyday...it was a lovely experience. I am very sad at what has happened to the churches. They seem to have gotten away from God. I do believe the Sabbath is Saturday...not Sunday and that is a commandment that, for some reason, Christians believe it it okay to break that commandment. I don't belong to any Church but I love Christ Jesus, with ALL my heart. God bless you for raising these wonderful children

After Jesus Christ was resurrected and ascended to the Father, He returned and spent forty days teaching his apostles. He never told them to change the Sabbath back to Saturday. If, in our church, it is impossible for someone to keep a Sunday sabbath (such as doctors and police officers), we are instructed to keep another day of the week holy and consecrated to the Lord. Best wishes.

It’s a beautiful thing when parents biological and not can get along. When I met my husband he had a beautiful 6 year old daughter that he adopted from a previous marriage when she was 2 years old. She started calling me mom before we got married. She nor her mother ever treats me like “step” mom. Biological father isn’t in the picture. My daughter is now 20 and in the Air Force. She is and always has been a great big sister to her little brother and sister. I was blessed to have a great relationship with her as I hear so many sad stories about step families not getting along.❤

Thank you so much for everything you shared in this video! I grew up as a city girl in PA with a country heart. Because much of the Amish/Mennonite culture is closed to outsiders, I often idealized that lifestyle in my mind...for what I imagined must be the most wonderful world of self-sustaining and worshipful family-oriented communities.
While it must be true that much of that lifestyle is preferable to the widespread debauchery of most secular cultures, it's surprising to me that a personal relationship with Jesus was not emphasized.
It's encouraging to hear that you left that community for the best reason. 👑
Now, with your experience and wisdom, it seems that your decisions have led you to the best of both worlds! Thank you again for sharing all that you do! 💞

Thank you for giving yourself to those of us who are looking for a community of people who want a more simple, more natural lifestyle. I am from the Appalachian Mountains and spent my childhood in the garden and canning, freezing and drying food with my Grandmother and Mother. I want to return to that lifestyle and just don't know how to begin. Your show has reminded me how to can and has me anxious for the spring garden, which I haven't grown in years. Yes there are many types of Mennonite churches. My Mennonite church, which comes from the Amish, is Holy Spirt filled and has over 400 people in church every Sunday and growing. During a revival we had 1,000 in the service several of whom were old order Amish who brought messages. We are Biblically conservative but we do not have a dress code for women. Men and women may be ordained to the full ministry. The old order Mennonite churches actually split off of the main Mennonite body. We respect them and don’t bash their belief system. We have a lot of “converts” from the old order Amish including ministers.
