I can't believe it has been over a year since I saw you gardening!! I know you started earlier, but this is the first video I've caught this spring!! Welcome back…we missed this!!
Happy spring! I’m in western Oregon (Willamette valley). I planted my peas last weekend and potatoes, lettuce, spinach, radishes and carrots are in. I’m sitting outside in the partial sun watching my goats run and play. They don’t get outside much this time of year cause they hate rain! Glad to see you back in the garden!
Willamette area is beautiful. We were in Eugene for a short time for work. Wanted to move there but didn't get to.
@@triciasklodowske5653Yes, it’s nice here. Luckily we get to enjoy dry summers but everything is still green.
I'm in Florida and last weekend I finished planting my full garden. 🌴
Love hearing all of the birds trying to drown you out...LOL! Blessings on your growing season and your day Kiddo!🌻🐛Carolyn in Ohio 🌿 (planting peas and greens)
Here in Manistee area, no planting yet, below freezing the next few days. My lettuce is coming up in my green stalk in my greenhouse. I had let lettuce go to seed at the end of the season, so on a warm day a month ago, I pulled up the old plants, and sprinkled the seeds over the soil, and watered them in. Starting to empty last years pots into a bin, to refresh the soil for this year. I have broccoli, brussel sprouts and cauliflower started, and a few peppers sprouting indoors. Going to start some flowers, herbs and tomatoes next week.
Yippie! We’re back in the garden!
Central Missouri here, our last frost is usually April 15. I planted out lettuces a little early this year, but just planting peas this weekend. This is my favorite channel for canning advice by far! Hoping for an abundant harvest for all of you!
It’s definitely spring in MI when you hear the killdeer!
I’m in southern Idaho zone 6 I just love your channel! Found it during Canuary! Something about your videos gives me peace at heart. The kids and I planted peas, some potatoes, and onion seedlings this week. So happy it’s about springtime here.
Glad you've found us friend ♥
I'm in Saginaw bay area of Michigan and you have inspired me to plant peas this week!
Best of luck in your 2024 garden, Rachel!!! Looking forward to seeing how everything goes! I’m sure it will be great! Here in Colorado I have planted some peas, and started indoors a bunch of greens, beets, peppers, tomatoes and eggplant! So exciting, this time of year! I love spring and growing food!!! I love your words about the joy inherent in the simple tasks around growing and processing food with your own two hands 💖👍💖
Loved all the sounds of nature in the background. Even the faraway sound of the train horn was very soothing, Thanks for sharing your beautiful day.
You inspire me to take advantage of the warm days we've been having (I'm in Ohio). I love learning from you! ~Kim
It feels great to see you in the garden
Love it! Thanks! I am trying Mr. Big Pea for the first time this year.
I bet you are really happy to be back out playing in the dirt! I did the same thing this year, planted peas first. They have gotten their first leaves yesterday! So happy!! Love your channel!
Happy Spring to you and your family!! I’m so glad you popped up in my page today!! I know you took a 7th year rest but I’m so excited to learn from you this year!!
Looking forward to coming along and watching your garden grow again!!
Central MN had a blizzard the last couple of days, and it's snowing again this evening. So no planting in the garden. BUT! I decided to try sewing seeds indoors for the first year ever, and my seeds are sprouting! All kinds of veggies. I'm hoping to plant enough for most of a full cycle year. Thank you for all your advice! So appreciated!
I can't wait for everything to come up 😊
Shouting for Good Friday to sow pea seeds, re-organizing garden. Abundant harvest to you, southeastern micigan zone 6b.
Happy Easter to all
Was thinking about getting peas and maybe some onions out soon here in Central Maine and then we just got a foot of snow this weekend! I've never been so happy to have been lazy a few weeks ago 😂 Living vicariously through this video. Soon enough it'll be our turn!!
Great to see the soil looking so rich, and you enjoying the garden again. We are still 6 weeks out of putting anything in the ground. Freezes expected on the weekend again. I do have onion, long season peppers, and tree seeds started in the house.
Love the more regular content lately!! Also, your hair looks gorgeous in this video! 🤩
I am totally with you on how peas bring a sense of peacefulness to gardening. My Mormor (grandma) grew peas and always let us go out to her garden and devour what we wanted. She passed away when I was ten, now in my fifties. I get super excited when I find that first full pod, snap it open, and savory the sweetness inside and remember a time so long ago. I find shelling them so relaxing and satisfying to my soul. It's bizarre to some people, lol my family, but there isn't anything better! Well, maybe that first green bean!
I'm in Mesquite NV!!! We have tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, all of our herbs!!! Everything we are growing is in and growing high!!! God Bless Us All!!!
So glad to see you with dirty hands again! LOL you are lucky to be able to do that in March. We are in Canada, southern Quebec, and still have 6 inches of snow on our garden. But the weather is changing and we will be planting our peas before we know it.
Good to see you planting in the garden again. You have such beautiful soil! I’m in NE Mississippi so far I have cabbage, onion and potatoes growing. I’m late getting my seeds started this year due to having cataracts removed from both eyes and then I had a huge varicose vein to deal with. I’m about a month off but have my soil ready to plant seeds today. Praying they come up quickly and are strong.
Blessings 🙏🏻🩷
Your hair is so beautiful....thank you for your videos..I love them! I am in South Georgia and my peas are 3 ft tall at the moment! This is my first year growing them for my husband!
so happy to see you gardening again. i planted tomatoes and peppers from nursery starts and planted seeds of cucumbers and zucchini in sandiego, ca
The pea plant is such a beautiful plant the blossoms so lovely. I love peas!❤
Michigander here. I’m north of Detroit. Live in a condo so my garden is very small. Have a green stalk, a small raised bed and many containers. I’ll begin working in my garden in a few weeks. I’m planning on a lot of chard and spinach and wax beans. I’ll also do some leek, a tomato plant or two and a few herbs and annuals. Planting for one and have to be conscious of the space I have. I’ll probably get a four pack of cabbage from the garden shop near me. Love chard and spinach for a side dish so I pick them when they are tender and do a few plantings.
Condo dweller here too. I'm pushing the HOA boundaries as much as I can with a couple narrow raised beds and containers. Where there's a will....right?!?!
I love your gardening content… I missed it last summer. Glad to have it back! (Ps I love all your videos)
Just got in from planting peas today too! Such a joy to be back in the garden. I had saved some seeds from last year but to my horror about 20% had weevils (or something like that). Thankfully still had enough. Neat tool!
I am having a great start to my gardening year here in North Texas zone 8A- I have planted Wando Peas (heat and cold tolerant) and they are taking off and I am so far very pleased with them. I also planted Kelvedon Wonder peas as they did fabulous for me last year and produced huge peas. I have also planted carrots, onions and garlic and am doing a trial run with onions, beets, kohlrhabi and potatoes. All seem to be doing very well, but we will see how they do once the heat sets in. I also have tomatoes started inside as well as some marigolds and peppers. I am so excited about gardening season this year!
Hi Rachel, I’m in Southern California. I have planted peas, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes herbs in the green stalk and flowers. I start earlier due to high heat in the desert during summer. Having fun in my small apartment garden.
In Northcentral WV, the rhubarb, thyme, oregano, mint, and echinacea (perennials) are growing well. Planted peas and lettuce a couple of weeks ago. Dixondale onions arrived yesterday, so I hope to get those in the ground this week. Potatoes and cabbage, followed by broccoli and cauliflower, will be next. Using your garden planner/journal. Love Spring!
I'm glad you have the patience for peas! No peas grow here. We had one nice harvest of peas one year and after that they just don't grow. So I gave up on growing peas! I just go to the freezer section and buy a 4 lb bag of peas and just can those. It's a lot less work! 😂😅😂😅
I’m so happy to see you use that seed spacer. I ordered the same thing last week!! 🎉
Southern MN. Zone 4B and snowing! I’m so jealous and happy to see you in the dirt!
Same here! Middle MN and shoveling!! ❄️❄️ ... Also snuggled up to my happy seedlings in the house anticipating when they can finally get outside!
@@tanyamosher9056 we’ve only planted 🌶️ seeds so far.
Here in NW GA we have some potatoes, garlic, carrots and beets in the ground so far! Lots of seeds started in the greenhouse. I love having dirt under my nails this time of year!
I'm in eastern Wa state and just planted peas, carrots, spinach and bare root strawberries from stark bros in my greenstalk. 🎉 😊
I'm in Zone 7b in the southeast US, and my peas, beets, turnips, kale, collards, onions, leeks and garlic are already growing. The peas were planted back in mid/late February, and are showing their first tendrils now. Where I am, peas only get about a 2 week window for harvest, so I plant Green Arrow peas which are a dwarf variety that has about 10 peas per pod. I sowed about 750 this year, and it probably still won't be enough!
I would love to see some weekly meals during the summer of you how you consume your garden vegetables without any preserving. Just how do you eat from the garden recipes.
I am in NC and I have broccoli in the ground, as well as trying TPS (True Potato Seed). Tomatoes and hardening off. I am about two weeks from my last frost date.
TY. Beautiful and wish for more planting area here. Have planted peas potatoes spinach lettuce raddishes dill kohlrabi beets carrots. Love this time of year.
Traverse City/Kalkaska area so we're not planting anything outside yet. Had snow on the ground yesterday, rained during the late-night early morning so snow is gone. Mid 50's today but only mid 30' for the next 2 days then 40's. Started peppers 5 weeks ago, tomatoes 2 weeks ago. Second round of peppers this week along with flowers, than in a few weeks more tomatoes. By spreading out the starting helps to spread out the harvesting. Will be starting brassicas this coming week. Wish the weather was better but it's northern MI. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.
I am in Minnesota with 8 inches of snow on the ground. Can't wait for it to be gone so i can start my gardening season
I'm so happy it's finally planting season down here in North Carolina! I've got potatoes growing, tomato and pepper seeds in the ground, leeks and of course garlic. Collards and one little head of cabbage. Some herbs are already in and some are waiting. Definitely have some flower seeds to get in the ground but cucumbers will be in a few weeks. My husband is from the Ann Arbor area and I still have family in Gaylord and Chelsea. Thanks to you both for all the help. I always learn something or get a new perspective from you both.
Hi fellow NC gardener 🎉
Fun to see you in the garden again! Just the joy I needed as I watch from the Northwestern UP... it will be awhile yet for me ❤
The birds are amazing at your place! The one you said hello to is a Killdeer if I'm not mistaken. I just planted my peas and you are correct about planting many, last year I did not have enough so I doubled it this time. Thanks for sharing:)
No planting here but the farmers did start turning Fields with warmer dry temps a couple weeks ago.
You motivate and provide good ideas. 🫛
Happy planting!
I'm not planting anything in the actual garden yet. It's going to get very cold tonight in Iowa. I do have broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage started inside. I need to repot them to bigger containers and I'll get that done next week. I can tell they're struggling in the small containers and they need a bigger home with a little better soil. We have Creeping Charlie too. It's is a big pain in the butt!
SE Michigan about 15 minutes from the Ohio border. Between today and tomorrow we will be doing potatoes, planting out a granny smith apple tree, pink blueberry bush and transplanting a dogwood tree and elderberry bush that I thought the ants had killed last year. April 1st will be onion transplants, radishes and beets, April 5th will be peas. I'm doing the gardening by the moon method. Worked very well for us last year so I'm continuing it.
I'm from Oklahoma. Planted peas, perpetual chard, rapini and collards. Will be planting beets, carrots and turnips later today.
Colorado here. Still with snow and freezing most every night. Im feeling the planting itch too.
Detroiter here 👋🏾
I winter sowed my cauliflower, gourmet lettuce mix, spinach, and planted out my onions. I may plant peas because of this video. Thanks for the inspiration!
I'm so glad to see you planting again. I think I will put in some carrots and beets first in my garden
Hi! We are in north west Georgia! First year having a garden of my own. We had to hire a crew to level out a spot for my raised beds but we have had an extremely wet month. It’s not quite ready for planting yet. I’m bummed but I will plant peas, cabbage and greens this fall! Ive learned so much from you guys! ❤️
I’m in East Tennessee on the plateau. Half my peas are about 2 inches tall. I planted the other half on st Paddy’s day so they haven’t come up yet. I grow Lillian’s caseload from Bakers Creek. They’re like little bites of sugar. Lots never make it into the house. I also have broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts planted. Also garlic and onions. My tomato seedlings are just breaking ground in their trays on heat mats in the house. It’s still in the upper 30s to upper 40s here at night. So far all the plants look good. Fingers crossed.
Love the garden is starting for you.. I wish I lived closer I would say I will take some of those strawberry seedlings.. Last year I was going to buy some strawberry plants they wanted 19 bucks for a basket full. Umm that was a no go for me. LOL Fun video. I can't wait to get my planting on soon for me I live by Grand Rapids Michigan. Have a great week.
I'm excited this is the first year I have planted bush beans. They are really shooting up can't wait to see how much I get from them.
sounds awesome that your planting peas I love peas I planted peas just recently In my garden well I wish you luck on your garden this year I hope It does well for you
Thank you for sharing ❤
We planted our potatoes last week and peas will be planted tomorrow.
You are so nice to watch love your gardening chat and demeanor and demonstration! I’m in Idaho, haven’t planted anything yet, seedlings going on inside tho. And a new greenhouse to use this year! Woohoo.
Light snow in Iowa today.. spring keeps teasing us. I do have a few flowers starting to come up!
Looking good, Rachel! So wonderful to see you digging in the soil again!!
I am planting in only my raised beds and my greenstalks this year as I am having a knee replacement in mid June. My neighbor has agreed to water it while I am in the hospital. So excited for spring to arrive.
Central Illinois, I'm going to be planting peas this weekend with potatoes and cabbage in the near future. Creeping Charlie and crabgrass are my menace.
Hi Rachel. Birds chirping and an adorable Woolly Bear Caterpillar. Fatso ate plenty with our unexpected mild winter here zone 6b. Ct. 800 hundred pea plants. Great tip on what to look for. Thanks. Beet greens coming up from last year. Don't know how that happened. Your garden soil, worms and birds are happy. Looking forward.
I agree, creeping charlie is the the worst. It grows over the top of mulch, any root will regrow a plant, as well as self seeds. Uggh. That soil looks amazing. Good luck with your peas.
I'm excited to grow along with you again. Got some peas in last week and put some asstd seeds into my greenstalk 2 weeks ago.
Just planted carrots today outside. Have lettuce, peas, spinach & beets in the hightunnel. Hudson Valley NY
I'm in Southern Illinois and I'm about to put my carrots in and getting ready to pot up my tomatoes and peppers for my sale at the end of April.
Hi Rachel. Keep up the good work in planting this year. While your getting thing ready for Spring. I will be here watching you have a great time. God Bless you Rachel. Keep on planting. HUGS 🤗. Mari'a. 🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍🌺🌼🐥🐰
I have that exact same gardening tool. It is very helpful. The holes are about two inches apart. You don’t have to plant seeds in every hole either.
Northern Nevada. Put my peas and potatoes in the garden on St. Patrick's Day. Nothing else will go in for a few weeks as our last hard freeze date isn't until the middle of April and last frost the middle of May.
Fayetteville GA potatoes, collards, cilantro and brassicas. Love your content ❤
You're lucky to plant so early! We're getting dumped on here in MN. Over a foot of snow
Minnesota here👋 No snow all winter… we just got dumped on! Forecast looks like back up in the 50’s next week, so hopefully I can get onions and carrots out! I can’t plant in snow!
Looking good!
My garden is still covered in snow.
Going to plant onion and brussels sprouts seeds, in the grow room, this weekend.
We're in the middle of a snow storm right now but it was a greatly mild winter. Garlic is the only thing in the garden right now.
I'm in SW Minnesota. Nothing planted yet, just got 3-4" of snow topped with sleet. 🙃 my first real garden year. I'm excited to get started.
Near the Gaylord area of Michigan. I only have garlic planted outside right now; it's going to be too cold for the next few weeks to plant too much else. I will start the peas & beans in a few weeks, along with other cold crops. I do have a lot started inside and hoping they all transplant outside well. The seedlings took off this year and I will have a lot to transplant. I'm thinking about making some cold frames for my raised beds. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. It really helps a lot to know timing for planting, etc.
I’m in western WA and have peas coming up, potatoes are planted, strawberry plants are in, hardening off the cabbage, broccoli and celery plants and will plant them soon.
We have pole beans, cukes, onions, celery, tomatoes, green pepper ... we already had growing tomatoes (cherry), kale, onions, garlic, carrots, green peppers from the fall... we will be planting more carrots also. We have sweet potato slips starting but we don't have them planted yet. Also have genovese basil, purple basic, thyme, parsley, lavender, coneflower, cilantro, sage, borage and chamomile. Some are seeds and some are starts.
❤ we planted potatoes so far, Arizona ❤
Tiffin Ohio here....I've planted peas, onion starts, radishes, lettuce, spinach, carrots, beets. I'm hardening off my brassica and they will be next.😊
Sounds great! Good luck this season ♥
🎉I live in Gaylord Michigan. We still have snow. I don't get to plant until late April or early May.
I live in the UP, creeping Charlie, slugs, snails, cucumber beetles and 2 years ago we started being invaded by Japanese beetles. The garden did well in spite of it all.
Ugh! Where in the UP? I've been so thankful we haven't seen Japanese Beetles in the Keweenaw and I'm sad to hear they are coming 😩
@@CopperIslandHomestead eastern UP
@@auntiepam5649 So sorry! They are such a pain to deal with 😭
Hi, I am in central CO at about 8900’ elevation with a 90 day mostly frost free garden season. Our bad weed here is bindweed which is a wild morning glory type weed that is impossible to get rid of. It wraps around the stems of other plants and chokes them out. The roots break very easily and can grow with very little root in the ground. Just a horrible plant!! Glad to see you with your hands in the soil. Happy gardening!
I'm in SE Ohio and I've planted my peas, potatoes, radishes and rapini so far. This weekend I'll plant my carrots and maybe lettuces/greens.
We are in central Oklahoma. I should have planted out our brassica starts in the high tunnel, but have been trying to be more gentle with myself and my expectations. Tons of pepper plants and tomatoes and roselle hibiscus to plant out once this cold spell passes the next couple of days. Until then, I’m just cleaning up the high tunnel & prepping while watching others garden on YT. 🤪
It was good to see you getting dirted up!
Zone 2 here. No dirt to plant in yet...started some seeds though, and giving "winter sowing" a try.
I already have peas, lettuce, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, arugula, kale, shallots, onions, and garlic IN the ground. My Bok Choy is already going to seed. East TN
I was out cleaning up and getting ready to plant my Cascadia peas, spinach, beets, lettuce and turnips. Although I planted my fall beets and turnips too late last year they continued growing throughout the winter 😳. NE Pennsylvania.
I planted a little over 500 pieces that two weeks ago. I’m hoping for a good harvest this year.
