    Looping the mic wire around the mic mount (at 3:40) is one of the best tips I took away from this when I was installing a new Kenwood in my car.

    • @AnthonyJ350

      Yup, you'll never have the wire droop from the headliner over time.

      @@AnthonyJ350 So true. It's been four years since I installed the Kenwood and the wire has never drooped down. Came back to re-watch your video since I'll be putting another HU in a second car.

      The hole is just precise so it pressure fits. Don't really recommend this style of install because it kills the performance unfortunately..

    @AnthonyJ350, it is better to put a windscreen foam for the Microphone ? even as put it in the middle of headliner thah is far from noise air windows

    I just finished my install today and did the mic just like you showed.Its running behind the dash cluster.People on the other end say they hear me fine but there is a lot of background noise.But it is only when the car is moving.If sitting still,everything is just fine.Any suggestions Anthony?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's sometimes and echo reduction setting in the head unit, or you might have to try moving it up in the center by the rear view mirror. It might also be a ground loop in the system.

    • @Grayback1973
      @Grayback1973 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I installed an amplifier and am getting zero engine noise.Mic is placed right over rear view mirror.Checked resistance for grounds and voltage for both head unit and amp thoroughly before installation.Like I said,it is only when the vehicle is moving at higher speeds that they're getting the noise.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What kind of car is it? Does a lot of ambient noise come into the cab?

    • @Grayback1973
      @Grayback1973 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      2009 Nissan Sentra.Not a lot of ambient noise at all.The car is actually pretty quiet as it has very thick foam beneath the carpet that deadens the sound quite well.I don't think it is an electrical issue because everything is fine if the car is running at a standstill.I've tested it in most ways and it boils down to when the car is moving at higher speeds.The head unit is a Kenwood DDX374BT and on calls there are 3 adjustable settings.Mic volume,Echo control and noise reduction.Owners manual doesn't go into detail about it.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      What happens when you max out the echo control. Also check the volume settings of your phone. I'd also try pairing a different phone and listen if it's the same.

    Any reason you didnt go through the right hand side of the vehicle? Would that have been easier? I ask because drivers side is right hand side in Australia and I want to run my mic cable through the glove box side, even though I have no idea what im doing hahaha. Just got a new Kenwood Double DIN, and have never done anything like this before.

    I have my microphone in the upper middle, right next to the rear view mirror. Everyone I talk to complains of loud road/background noise. Should I get an upgraded microphone or move my mic? I have a 2008 Honda civic.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Eli S Is it an echo? Their voices might be coming in too loud through the speakers and the mic is picking it up. I would check the setting in your phone and the bluetooth settings of the deck to start.

    • @nigelio3
      @nigelio3 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      AnthonyJ350 No, I don't believe it's an echo. When I'm talking to people they say that they can't hear me. Like there is too much background noise. It's not when they talk, it's when I talk.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe make sure the mic is plugged all the way in. Could be a defective microphone. They are kind of cheap.

    Hey i have the alpine cde 137bt and was wondering how do you set the gains or settings. I cant seem to firgure it out. The other end says they can hear themselves talk and alot of background noise. I set the mic above the mirror and its no help.

      @AnthonyJ350  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      heftyjoe Hmmm, when you're talking to someone is their voice really loud coming through the speakers? Is the mic plugged in all the way? (sorry but have to check the basics first)
      As for volume on the mic you'll have to check your owner's manual.

    • @AnthonyJ350

      Off Course Travels You would just need to purchase a head unit with Bluetooth hands free capabilities from your local install bay shop.

    So where is the best optimal placement? Assuming the car allows both areas. I just want a concealed stealth look.

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm thinking in the the gauge cluster cause it's closer. Your phone sounds better when you hold it to your head and talk as opposed to a distance.

    I don't see the bluetooth part of the mic. You still have to wire 3.5mm jack into the reciever unit. The only bluetooth part is communication between the receiver and your phone. The mic and wiring has no bluetooth. Is that correct?

    • @AnthonyJ350
      @AnthonyJ350  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Berri Jam Correct. The Mic just picks up your voice for the Bluetooth function of the head unit.
