I never thought about installing the microphone right next to the gauge cluster, but that was so easy and effective, I abandoned any plans for anything more complicated than that. Thanks for the great idea! It's working just wonderfully.
Seriously why do SO many of these install vids avoid the under the dash routing?!?! SURELY that's the trickiest and most important part?!?!? SO frustrating!!
Are there any options to make one look more OEM? Like with a grill or cover in the headliner? Seeing the mic doesn’t look aesthetically pleasing to me.
It really depends on the installation and preferences. However you need to remember that it is the microphone, so make sure you don't block it. The ultimate goal is to make sure the microphone is picking up your voice well.
You do not want any obstructions to the microphone; although we supply omnidirectional microphones, we still see if it is not facing the driver or if it is installed behind a panel that there have been issues in regards to sound quality. We usually place them by the review mirror to hide it as well as possible and have never had anyone mind the location. In most instances, if we do not point it out after the installation, the customer would not notice that we had added it.
I have a car that doesn't have Bluetooth as an option on the stereo, would your kits add Bluetooth to the stereo for music streaming as well as calling?
This microphone comes as a part of aftermarket Bluetooth and CarPlay / Android Auto integration systems for car stereos. Check our website gromaudio.com for more information about aftermarket car stereo upgrades.
for that you will need the Bluetooth transmitter for hands free phone calls. What we show is the GROM Bluetooth solution. You can check gromaudio.com to learn more.
I have to have the mic within inches of my mouth for anyone to hear me on my Lexus IS300. @GROM, is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity of the microphone? Thanks!

If I installed a head unit display and it has a mic on the side panel of the car next to my head do I use external or internet mic in settings? Thanks
It depends on the specific display you installed.
Couldn't you attach the microphone BEHIND the interior light on the headliner so that it couldn't be seen? what would the quality be like then?
