Normally when I watch these I'm laying back on lying down on my sofa. But when Sydney had to roll I was sitting up, leaning over with my hands clasped like as if I was praying like as I was watching a playoff game and my team had to make the next point to stay in the game. Then came the emotion when she rolled a 1. Totally heartbreaking...
Props to Joe for altering his initial character plan based on actual gameplay. Just seems a lot more in character to build based on experience than based on what the player initially planned. While i usually have a general idea as to what I want to do, I do often deviate based on what makes sense for the party and based on what we've experienced.
Please make the fox a reoccurring villain.

During 25+ years of gaming its become evident to me that sometimes its just fated for some characters to die. You can feel it coming as a player when all the rolls just turn icce-cold and -nothing- works... Looking forward to see what Syd comes up with next
Whenever a PC falls my buddies and I always say reverently: "It was meant to be." Each instance like that changes the story dramatically. This is why I love these games.

I think they're more confused about the fact that a fox had sneak attack, so I looked it up.. It's a Fading Fox, which is a CR 2 creature with a base 25 HP and 21 AC.. (I don't know if these changes for an animal companion) How the hell is that balanced against a badly wounded character at level 1? With sneak attack, it has a 2d6+1 piercing damage

Was listening to this and man, so brutal. Had to pull up the video to see Troy’s reaction..and just..man. I was perfectly trapped between “aww man that really sucks..”…and unstoppable laughter.
That was some of the most compelling television I have watched in a long time. I've had many characters suffer a similar fate, but never felt it like this. Great show.
I primarily listen to the podcast because I cant find time to tune in thursdays, but I had to watch the vod of this episode just to see everyone's actual reactions to what happened
True class from a tremendous player, Syd handled this so well. Someone had to be the first to go. Such a tragedy with the characters just starting to develop together, but that just makes the story so much better. Oh, Lucky, how little we knew ye.

Real pity about Lucky. She needn't have died if the group was using the actual Hero Points system instead of "bottlecaps" -- Hero Points are a core part of how PF2E is balanced, which I hope comes home to Troy eventually -- but so it goes in the meantime.
I feel like they jinx the system by calling for bottlecaps, but yeah Troy is definitely a bit stingy with them 😅

So sad! But, these two episodes show why in PF2 you don't mess around once you start accumulating wounds. It's not 5e where characters bounce up and down and back up. With wounds, get out and get well to come back and fight another day.

Pathfinder and its difficulty is balanced partly around hero points... not having those rerolls makes the game harder since part of the balance is removed
Yeah, the bottle cap system replacing Hero Points is definitely going to make the game a lot more lethal (case in point). Though Troy likes that I’m sure. Lol

I spent hours hanging out with the actor who played Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs back in 07-08 at a convention I was working at. I had no idea who he was. He's a truly beautiful person and very gracious. He stopped by my booth afterwards and that's when I found out who he was.
